Bosses of Spyro: Elements of Kaos

As promised, I`m covering all the bosses of Spyro: Elements of Kaos that currently exist. Naturally, this topic will be updated as I create more bosses. I`ll do my best to cover them in order, so enjoy.

Gnasty Gnorc & Ripto

Location: Foreboding Fort, Artisans

Attacks: Fireball, Shockwave, Lightning

Not exactly a boss fight, but you are dodging their attacks, so I`ll count it here. It`s mainly just avoiding their attacks while navigating some minor traps and platforms. Ripto shoots fireballs while Gnasty creates shockwaves that need to be jumped. If you stand still too long, you`ll also get hit by lightning. Just keep moving and jump when needed to survive.

Kaos

Location: Magic Crafters, Artisans

Attacks: Charging, Flaming, Headbashing

In an attempt to stop Nestor from scattering the Elements of Kaos, the fallen Dragon Elder along with Gnasty and Ripto have stormed the now-opened Temple of Elements. While Ripto and Gnasty tangle with a couple of the other Elders along with Hunter, Spyro takes on Kaos alone. He has mostly the same attacks Spyro does (Charging and Flaming), but you must be more careful attacking him, as he is apt at dodging and counterattacking.

He also has the advantage of being able to shield with his wings, which can trip you up if you were trying to nail him with a charge. Fire is your most effective weapon, particularly when you`ve just avoided his own flame, but watch out for that Wing Shield.

Forbidden Warrior

Location: Autumn Castle (Interior)

Attacks: Smashing, Fireballs

Ripto has transformed a Forbidden Grunt into a much larger, more powerful brute with his magic, and rides on top. The Forbidden Warrior wields a club like his smaller brethren, but with more ground-shaking results! He is also more aggressive, actively chasing after you and trying to smash you when he gets close (also causing a small shockwave that you should jump, just to be safe). To make matters worse, the Warrior is seemingly impervious to all attacks.

Fortunately, Sheila`s along for the ride, and she can utilize the Metalbacks that Ripto summons to open the Warrior up for punishment. While Spyro wards off other Metalbacks with his charge (set him on "Attack"), Sheila should use her foot grab and throw a Metalback at the Forbidden Warrior, knocking him out and down (also comically squashing Ripto beneath him). During this time, Syro or Sheila can lay down the hurt with a Headbash/Ground Stomp or two before Ripto "persuades" the Warrior to get back up on his feet, indicating when you should switch back to Sheila (if you aren`t already using her) and command Spyro back into "Attack" mode.

After taking some damage, Ripto eventually aids the Warrior by firing at you from afar; he attacks the closest target, so make sure to keep Spyro between the two of you, as his charging should keep him from getting hit. Repeat the Metalback-Headbash combo, and the Forbidden Warrior will fall.

Forbidden Commander

Location: Battlefront Trenches, Autumn Castle

Attacks: Rolling Attack, Arm Shots(x16), Power Beam, Bomb Pods, Shockwave Jump

This giant Metalback was placed in command of the Forbidden One`s fort by Kaos himself. Sporting four muscular, clawed arms that serve as cannons, tough metal armor that renders him nearly invincible, and the temperament of a gnorc with a bad case of butt sores, he deserves his position.

He`s certainly quite well armed (no pun intended), having five main attacks, all of which he will use by the end of the fight: He rolls into a ball and attempts to steamroller you, fires a volley of sixteen consecutive shots from his arms, charges up a Power Beam in his mouth that he subsequently fires (and heavily damages you with if you get hit), fires a single, explosive bomb pod from his tail, and leaps into the air, landing with a powerful shockwave. To make matters worse, Spyro has to fight this monster on his own. Sheesh!

Fortunately, he has one subtle yet simple weakness: Those bomb pods he fires with his tail can be knocked around (more specifically, at him) with a good, solid smack to the side. Charge the pods from the right angle to knock them at the Commander; just don`t flame them! Survive his attacks (he begins with just the claw shots and bomb pods, and adds three more as the fight progresses) until he fires a bomb pod, then quickly nail him with it, and repeat. Watch out for the Metalbacks and Spitters he will eventually summon into battle.

Kaos, Round II

Location: Autumn Castle (Tower)

Attacks: Same as last time

Kaos has returned for a second battle, this time for the Earth Horns at the top of the Tower where they landed when Nestor scattered the Elements. It`s not much different from last time, only this time either Hunter or Sheila accompanies you, which is a relief, because Kaos now has his own buddies, the Forbidden Ones. Metalbacks, Stingers, and even Screechers will serve to distract you as you try to lay the smackdown on the fallen Elder. If you`ve brought Hunter, however, this battle will be considerably easier, as his arrows will work quite well against both the Screechers and Kaos, except when he uses his Wing Shield (of course, an attack from behind always works).

Despite your efforts, however, Kaos always has other means by which to acquire the Earth Horns...

That`s it for now. I`ll cover more bosses in further posts.
