Re: Count me out
I'll explain it even if I'm not a part of this arguement >_>. If it wasn't based on a certain book, there would be more people liking it. It's mainly because it stuffed up the book's storyline so completely that the series as a whole suffered. Those who saw the movie without reading the book first and were disappointed would assume that the book is much the same, therefore not taking the time to read it.
And a potential fan is lost.
I like the movie because I don't try and find the flaws in it. I enjoy a movie when I can, and I did enjoy it when I saw it.

But saying someone's opinion doesn't matter is also an opinion. Sure it's kind of a mean opinion, but so is professional critique. Live with it, just like I do.
So to retaliate, why don't you guys explain why you like the Eragon movie? Look deep inside yourselves and think about why you like it. Surely it can't be because you like dragons, is it?
Everyone is entitled to their opinions...I just don't want to hear them. (kidding).

Re: Count me out
I'd have to disagree with you about there probably being more fans had less people read the book. I went to see it because I thought it looked neat, and I knew nothing about the book other than seeing the cover from time to time. I found the movie boring, predictable, and poorly acted; critics and other audiences that dislike it seem to dislike it for these same reasons, some not even knowing about the book. I read the book after I saw it and actually found it quite interesting. Some things are just better in books.

Re: Count me out
This is the reason why I liked the movie:
I have watched the movie before I read the book, so I didn't know there was a big difference. When I read the book, I didn't see it relate to the movie at all, so my mind automatically seperated the movie and the book as 2 different stories. I liked the book better after I read it, but I still liked the movie too since I thought of the movie as a seperate story.
So basically what I am saying is that the movie would have been better if their was no book... But the book would still be good without a movie.

Re: Count me out
And trust me, he only likes it cause he has no idea how much it butchered the book. People have to right to their own opinion, but should at least research the subject before forming one. In no way did I itend to insult/flame/bash him, or anyone else that liked the movie. I just meant to ask people who like the same things as me opinions on the movie, before deciding wether to rent it (Whenever it comes out) or not. Cause most likely, people who like the same things as me could help me come to a decision.
Hipocrit...
Do YOUR research before you tell someone something like that. I HAVE known how much it butchered the book, but I still like it nontheless.

Yes, it is an opinion, but the way he said was trying to state it as a fact. Which I take offensively. If he just said that my opinion didn't agree with his, then that would be a nice way to say it. I am not sure what he was trying to say, but these are all the things I could make out of it were rude and mean.

Now, I know this may be alot of posts in a row, but I haven't looked at these for a while...
To sum this flame war up, this is what I have to say:
Your a noob for saying I can't have that as my opinion, I take great offense to people who say other opinions don't can't be true. I could tell the mods about what you said, and you could get in alot of trouble. But I am not like that, here in America we can have our own opinions, and I get very angry when people say I can't have that as my opinion (I kicked a guy in the park when he said I can't have something as my opinion). But I can understand if you live in own of those communist countries that make people force to have an opinion, such as Korea, but this is an international forums, so even if you do live in a country like that, then you still must respect other's opinions.

Look, I've been in several debate clubs, and I'm just trying to give you some advice that others gave me, which is to not take things offensively in regards to what someone thinks of your opinion in what is considered to be a debate amongst smart people. To each individual, their own opinion is their own fact, and nothing should change that, but it won't make their opinion an actual fact, no matter how you may look at it or no matter how much their opinion may seem like a smart-aleck wisecrack. So it's pointless to get offended.
If I got angry and walked out on someone every time I heard the phrase "your opinion is stupid and meaningless to me," I would probably never talk seriously with my own family in get-togethers.
There's this one guy in my class, who everyone considers to be extremely snobby. The first time I met him, he wanted to see my artwork, and when I showed it to him he completely trashed it. He said I was trying too hard, that I'm going back and forth between styles because I was pathetically insecure, and several other related critiques about my anatomy and perspective with non-abstract drawings. When he said all this I just blinked and then stiffled some laughter. He then looked at me straight in the eye and said "I'm quite serious, will you promise to fix this?" but he was smiling. He had a british accent and everything, you could almost confuse him for Simon Cowell. In the end, I took what he said to heart, but I didn't take all his advice. We're actually good friends now and he still critiques me harshly to this day, but we do agree on a lot of other things, and the way he acts in that classroom isn't his true personality. He really is a sweet guy. It's pointless for me to get offended about what he tells me, because he isn't really meaning to attack my person.
Long story short, the thing I would suggest is to just shrug it off and stand firm with your opinion, and don't take it as an attack toward you, because it wasn't.

Wow, if someone ever said that to me or anybody in my school, he would have needed to go into a witness protection clinic. (:)
Anyways, I don't take many things like that at heart, but when it is coming from someone who I actually was being nice and friendly to, I tend to get very offended. A few days ago, someone on the forum started picking on him about his signature and how inappropriate it was, and I made a good clean fact about how his signature is good (even if I don't agree), but when I am nice to someone, I expect to be treated the same, which was the opposite case here.

Re: Count me out
I still don't see how he is treating you in an offensive manner. All he said was that, because you liked Eragon, he is not considering your opinion on the Spyro movie to be reliable. This is perfectly natural. I don't listen to most of you when you say Dawn of the Dragon is going to be good, because most of you liked the other Legend of Spyro games. The only reason I'm going to play it is because I, by my own choice, want to see how good it is. He just happened to put that statement in a snarky way. I guess you can find it offensive if you want to, and ask him to please not make statements like that, but it seems to me like you guys are getting instantly worked up over something that isn't there.
Just sayin'.

When I said "I like the Eragon movie" he said "That statement renders your opinion null". Basically he said that I am not allowed to have that as an opinion, and he was telling me I NEED to hate the Eragon movie. That's what got me so angry, I don't mind if someone disagrees with me, but when someone says I can't disagree with them, that is what gets me mad. I would like everyone to tell me how they would feel if I said they are not allowed to like the color blue, or have a dragon as their favorite animal.

Re: Count me out
No, that's not what he was saying. You're blowing a simple little witty remark out of proportion. Of course, this is probably because you're not listening to my advice, which is fine. I'm not trying to defend anyone, I'm trying to point out the solution in a problem that shouldn't even be a problem. In the end, what he said was just an opinion, he didn't state it as a fact nor did he mean to, no matter how you may have taken it. You can hate him forever if you want, but let's move on.

Re: Count me out
Seriously, Producers of Eragon? TLoS Storyline? Possible Delay? This just does not look good from my point of view. I might rent this if I'm bored, but I'm definately not bothering to see it in theaters. Anyone else share my opinion?
Note: No flames.
I'm with you. If it was the original storyline like with Ripto or someone in the old games, the I would PROBABLY see it. And Eragon was alright. I never finished the book cuz it got boring.

I completely agree. I think a movie is going way to far, and with all those bad points, I don't think it's worth the money.

I'm not going to watch it. It would only make me sad.
That dumb company COMPLETELY RUINED Spyro and Crash. >_>
Crash isn't supposed to be an idiot, he just doesn't talk. In the booklet of one of the ps1 games I have it says that he and Coco are both very intelligent!
