Reviews

Hi Everyone.
I've read some of the reviews that are already on the web, and most ofthem seem to be giving this not a very good score, and it really sounds like the game is practically TLOS with Wonky free flight and nice graphics. But i'm not going to get all negative here as i havn't played it yet so i wont judge it.
On a happy note, Fan'sd reviews seem to be much more positive than critics, with scores around the 9.5 mark.
So what do you give this game? They one's who've played it of cource. And i havn't heard much about the gameplay, so what's THAT like?

Re: Reviews

Put it this way ratchet ... if you go by my reactions and the way that I've rated the game, this one will outclass TEN and ANB put together...

Honestly mate, I can't wait to get it on Wednesday or Thursday then I got all Friday (yeah day off work) to play it ... see how I go from there.

You haven't seen any gameplay ? Take Spyro's lil 5-7 hit combo that he used to do in ANB and TEN, and then add to it the fact that he can pick his enemies up and just beat them into submission lol ... tossing them side to side into the ground ... even combining with Cynder to knock 'em out!

Re: Reviews

Meh, I don't understand the low scores myself. I never seem to agree with the critic's scores, so I've been ignoring them lately.

Now that I think about it...(goes on to type a wall of text)

They did a darn good job with the free flight. It's the best they could've done while keeping the platforming segments (I don't mind the climbing, but hauling the orbs can be tiring). Simply put, flying is fun, and I spent a couple minutes in each area just doing that.

The camera angles are fixed in some spots, but I didn't have any problems with it. They generally give you a good view of the room you're in. Though sometimes they use the camera angles to hide the collectables, not sure what I think about that.

They've got a lot of attack combinations, but they don't force you to use them (Looks at Eragon game with disdain). It's more like "Well maybe this will make the fight a little easier." I know this because I used maybe 2 breaths through most the game and did a lot of fighting the hard way (I got lazy...)

You spend a lot of time thrashing stuff, but you can avoid some enemies, which was nice. Then there's moving to the next area by solving some puzzle or carrying an orb somewhere, but the flight helps with that. They did a good job incorporating the energy tether, they actually made it part of some of the puzzles.

I've been wondering how the armor concept would turn out since it was announced, I think they did well with it. You can use certain pieces from each set, but the bonuses for equipping a complete set are great.

As far as scoring goes, I'd say solid 9.]

Man, I wrote a lot   :-|

Oh great, my lighthouse is on fire again, be right back...

Re: Reviews

You make it sound very good Tornwings, though i'm a bit unsure. It sounds as my first comment went, Just like ANB and TEN but with a few more moves, some free flight and better graphics. What, there's climbing? I thought Spyro could fly whenever he wanted....owell, i was against the free flight anyway.
I guess i'll never know what i really think of it until i try it out. I just hope its nothing like ANB or TEN!

Re: Reviews

Also, this game is a lot darker in the since of atmosphere, because of the war and destruction that's taking place in this game. I was like "WOW!" at some parts, like when you see the endless army of Malefor's minions in the background at Dragon City.

I felt they did a very good job on the since of gameplay, the melee system is amazing, I especially like it when you take enemy by the throat into the air and claw them to death and slam them on the ground, just cool as hell.

Graphics, you're only gonna be able to enjoy the most of that if you get it for the 360 or PS3, PS2 and Wii won't cut it if you want the best of the best.

As TornWings said, the tether system and camera angles are flawless in most cases, I have played the game in 2-player mode from start to finish with my sister and best friend, and its not hard at all to see what you are doing.

If you get the game for 360 you also have 50 fun achievements to get! Also, I don't want to forget the nice collectibles you can get, such as armor, health, mana upgrades, and elite monsters that can be pretty hard to fight sometimes.

Now, as for Spyro and Cynder, they are both unique in terms of elements, so its fun to play as both of them and master their elements. Cynder is a little faster and agile and has more Mana than Spyro, while Spyro has more health than her.

Overall, I give the game a 9/10. -1 only because I only wished it was a longer game, but VERY fun non the less.
