Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
What is with everyone and changing Cynder's Personality and looks to fit the old games. YOU DONT NEED IT. Firstly, If you've played DOTD, you'd know she isn't really that serious, and pretty Playful. Secondly, Even Dark characters could enter the originals, Spyro would comment on how "emo" Cynder was, that is all.
Opem your mind everyone!

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Yeah, but I've never liked that "playful" personality to begin with because it dismatches horribly with her character design. It reeks of unused potential for a strong character which is very bothersome. If anything it should be changed even if it wasn't to place her in the old timeline.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
I don't know where you go the whole playful personality idea for Cynder from...as far as I can see the only time I saw something like that was in this little animation posted in Spyro's Liar that simply had her pushing Spyro to gain control of his abilities once more...other then that...I didn't see anything like that in TEN...and in DotD again she was pretty serious about everything...I like her character the way it is...it was built for the LoS series and that's where it is going to stay.
So maybe you should try playing over the games again...and Open your mind to them lol...because it's pretty clear that you would rather observe things that really are not existant....and yes keep Cynder out of the old timeline...that's not the spot for her.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Wasn't she like another version of Sparx in DotD that also went into fits of depression for no reason but is somehow socially experienced enough to console Spyro?
Her character doesn't even make sense to me and it's way too dependent on fueling the nobleness of the mary sue hero.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Well I guess it would depend on how you define the characters you observe...the one thing they could have done to help develop her character better in the series I think was to have at least more then one female character...because yes that makes it pretty dang obvious...but I still enjoyed her character...I just wish they had mixed things up a little bit instead of making it so obvious of her role...other then that though I like her...bring her back for the future with a little bit more creativity thrown in..

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Then again Characters change from games and Companies
i mean Original spyro had a personality
through LOS is too much like the Millionaires son or frodo baggins charater (no that had nothing to do with he actor) LOS also reminds me of peter parker in the spider man movies.
Who knows maybe in the next spyro games cynder may be different, and ember may not be a fangirl

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Yeah but that just depends on Sierra...if they continue with their development with LoS...because if they do I don't think they will change much of anything...I just hope to heck that they reintroduce some new characters...because the stories def need to be spiced up quite a bit....especially if they want to keep fans semi-interested..

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Yeah I personally feel that they should stay away from anything parent related...I really think that it is a question that should never be answered....it's better that way...and if it was Cynder's mother...why the heck would she just have abandoned her daughter at the temple...and where the heck was she when all the events of LoS were happening lol...she must have been one heck of a hider.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Pardon my ignorance, but 'old' implies being in the past. Surely it's an impossibility to take something from the present, and make it exist in the past?

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
My best guess is that they were referring to the old timeline. IE. If they were to continue from or re-make the same Spyro universe that Insomniac established.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Well yes it's all just speculation...such as if they did...like Kazoobie said...remade the games for some reason...which they would never do anyways lol...it was just innocent banter pretty much.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Could be unrealistic....but I suppose you are correct...they very well could do that...but why would they want to in any way?...seriously just leave the old games how they are...no use screwing around with something that is already a legend pretty much...how about I just go with unlikely...that way their is still some small chance that they could...but I still would have to say no way.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
"They would want to" because of many possible situations. Maybe they would want to use a different approach seeing as the critics don't favor them very much, or maybe they release more failure games that get them enough money anyway for them to want to experiment. Activision didn't like what Krome was doing, so they handed it to Etranges, and that actually changed it quite a lot. The same thing could keep happening and so on. You need to think a little outside the box since the videogame industry can be unpredictable.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Thinking outside the box can be useful at times yes...but I am also cursed with a strong sense of realism...I have not been taken by surprise in any of the events that have occurred with the franchise...and most of it has actually been rather predictable....it all depends on how the developers feel with the overall product....and yes they could choose to...but I think if they did anything to alter the old games it wouldn't be a success...but that's just my opinion of course.
Then again when I read your comment I'm not exactly sure which generation of games you are referring too...but as far as I'm concerned I don't see any logical reason for them to alter what has been done...but then again who knows.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
I'm not sure if I would call their move predictable, since I've never actually seen anyone go "oh, well since our last two games failed so much there can be only one simple solution: REBOOT EVERYTHING."
I really don't want a remake of the old games, but it seems a little more possible than actually continuing from where YotD left off, mostly because it's the lazy approach. "Well, since we got our established engine already... etc."
Anyway, I guess you could look at Sonic as a good example. Everyone was all like "ok Sonic is dead now and will never go back to its old roots and charm." Everyone figured Sonic Team didn't care because of their gigantic fanbase that bought games just for Shadow, but then they did. They went back to focusing on Sonic and side-scrolling, made new characters one-timed, and Unleashed seems to be getting more positive reviews even if it was an unpolished game, but they are taking the baby steps to be good again.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
I def see the point that you are making with that...but even then it does depend on the average fan as a whole...to which yes if you look at Spyro..many more fans of the originals still exist then from the new series...at least that's what you garner when you go onto the average forum these days...and many yes have been crying for the death of LoS.
I love both the series for what they are...but if they were to go back to Insomniac's series...and redo things...It could swing either way. They would either put a nail in the coffin for the old games as a whole...or it could garner the interest that the old fans clearly pulled out from LoS. Regardless I don't want to see anything done with the old games...and personally I don't see them doing anything with them.
I'm not ruling it out..because yes as you said video games can be unpredictable...but if something like that does happen then it will be with a new developer with brand new ideas once more for the series...and I don't think Sierra has given up any of its rights so far...and I doubt they would want to reconnect with something that they wanted to break away from to begin with.
But yes...it's certainly possible.....wise?......I'm leaning more towards no...

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Here's a few examples of how I imagine Cynder in my mind if she were to interact with Insomniac's world and Spyro. I like the idea of her being the only character to be able to put Spyro's arrogance in his place. I guess Elora does it too, kind of, but she doesn't intimidate him.
PS. Sorry for the cheap digi-drawings but I did them really fast just now to illustrate my point in the dialogue.
PPS. In the third image Cynder is using a different version of a fear attack, as in the way I re-imagined her world, the dragons from there can manipulate their shadows.

Re: Cynder in the old Spyro games?
Awesome renditions Kazoobie...I really wish I could draw lol...but yeah your idea is pretty believable...I can def see Cynder as being the one to really put Spyro in his spot....and scaring the crap out of him when he deserves it. Sweet drawings!
