What do you think about the Music of the "the legend of spyro" series?

lol, happy new year guys!! XD

ehem,
Since ANB came out, the music has changed a lot..
(i'm not talking about the songs like "this broken soul" I mean the main music in the games)
not that happy and funny back ground music like the older spyro games..
now it's kinda churchy if you know what I mean....
(sorry, I don't know how to say it in another way..)
but anyway,
I do like some music of the "the legend of spyro" series.
like ANB's main menu song. it's kinda touchy..and gives a feeling that a new dragon has born.=P (I was happy to hear it again in the beginning of the Valley of Avalar stage:)
and the Song in TEN when you enter the room with the big Malefore statue in Mountain of Malefore(this song is also on the bg when you battle the Destroyer)
the battle with Gaul when Spyro turns Dark Spyro(the song also came back in the beginning of dotd when you you have to face the golem for the fist time. but dotd's version was still kinda different if you listen carefully...)
and DotD's trailer music (also when you're at the main menu and wait a fiew seconds, the trailer will aslo appear with song)

but of course I like Spyro's older BGM like A hero's tail's ones...
but it's just what you think about the new songs?

It's good but.... Really not my kind of music. The only time I like that type of music is when it's from Kingdom Hearts for some reason....
I loved Stewart Copeland's work. Masterpieces. I listen to the first game's opening regularly big_smile

Well it was just ment to run with the serious tone of the series in general....not everyone was going to like it. I didn't mind it....but at the same time it wasn't that good. Parts of it really ran well....while others were a bit of a let down.

Needless to say I'm not as extreme in terms of coming to deal with it as Aicebo is wink ..

The older music was just more feelgood and overall enjoyable music to listen to...like you would go into one of these worlds just to listen to how the music adapted and such...and it was usually sweet....the newer ones are just running with the "epic" feel of the story....two comletely different methods that's all...

"Epic" music works well if it's used properly, though I've seen a few times when it was... distracting (remembers last mission of AC4)

True...but if used in proper proportion it can really add onto a game. The music is very critical in the game's formula....and to really nail a deserving game...all the factors of it have to add up nicely.

I like them both very much.
I've always enjoyed listening to the background music in Spyro the Dragon. It made me feel happy sometimes and brought back a lot of memories. ^^

And TLoS music...well DoTD music anyway is really cool and reminds me of The Lord of The Rings. xD But when I listen to the music in certain places say like the Destroyer or Fury mode...it makes me feel oh so powerful. xD

But yeah like I said at the very top. I like them both very much. ^__^

Not to sound fruity or anything... But the music from TLOS series is alot like a fairy tale or fantasy tale that seems both happy and tragic. Again not trying to sound fruity...lol

Well yeah it doesn't have that pick up and go style that is in the originals lol...those you just feel like getting up and dancing to for the heck of it...that's what made them so enjoyable...while LoS was meant to be more serious and toned down in a sense.

The music for the Legend of Spyro series is absolutely beautiful and epic. They have that "cinematic" feeling and therefore adds to the games.
But as I always say, soundtracks for BOTH of the generations of Spyro have their own way of being epic.

Yes both series are good for what they are....the music in the originals is fun and upbeat while the new ones are more "epic" as they put it. Overall I have to say that I enjoyed the originals more....but I certainly don't mind the new ones.

Anyway, while I do enjoy orchestrated soundtracks, the LoS music was hit or miss with its soundtracks.

ANB: Wonderful level music that really set the stage for the dark tones. The "action" tracks were fast-paced, with heavy instrument and choir use to set the stage for fighting hordes of enemies. Boss battle tracks were extreme misses here. Failed to set the mood for the fight, and rather forgetful altogether.

TEN: The level tracks were not very good, and rather repetitive/annoying. The action tracks were rather bizarre, and lacked the upbeat, heavy instrumentation that really fit the mood of a fight against hordes of enemies. The boss battle tracks however, were very good, especially Gaul and Skabb. Actually, the various tracks of the Pirate Fleet and Fellmuth Arena were the highlight of the game for me.

DotD: Majority of the game reused, lower quality music tracks. The new tracks for the game did not fit at all with the levels they were used in, especially the action tracks. They were worse than TEN's action tracks IMO; they were entirely out of place.

The music is part of why I enjoy the TLOS series so much. I had a feeling I was going to have a blast when I heard ANB's start screen music.

Nice touch having that music come back for flying around the valley of Avalar, I had a bit of a nostalgic moment when I heard it then.
