Re: Turning Spyro into something he's not
I do not think that we will ever get peace between new and old fans. Namely the old Fans, as they are usually the ones who start the arguments (Because TLOS lovers have no reason to be angry). AS I've said on another topic, As Much As I try to think I dislike TLOS, Its probably done more good than bad IMO. The only real problem is the fact it gives Spyro a bad name, IMO anyway. Its hard to explain to my friends, who have played TLOS and think it sucks, that I do not like those games, and I like the older ones, which were much better. They don't listen and Just think I'm an idiopt for liking TLOS. Now it juist doesn't make me angry that My friends think I like a stupid series, but the fact that Spyro has been put to shame and turned from something of legend to a laughing stock, IMO anyway. But Don't jump to conclusions. Because As I've said, TLOS is better than nothing. For one, It gives me things to argue about, and argueing is fun (to me anyway)
But Really, When I say that they should go back to the older Spyro, I Mean It is fine if they go back after 5 more TLOS games, And I'm happy for TLOS to continue, except I would like to see another Original style Spyro game, even if it is made in 2015. And If the Timelines are connected, I would be delighted, as then I Could feel that I could support both Series.

Re: Turning Spyro into something he's not
Who knows what they will do. I can only go with the knowledge that Sierra doesn't care if they lose fans seeing as how they lost many over the change...and I don't see them connecting the two series in any more relations...but who knows....depends on how long Sierra owns Spyro.

Yet another reason why I hate Sierra.
But Yes, If They want People to stop argueing, they will have to do something. Original Fanboys/girls wont just back down like that, and that goes for all the TLOS fans who go "ST0P ARGU3ING!!!!!!1111"

Re: Turning Spyro into something he's not
"Can't we all just get along?" is pretty much what I got from Piano Angel. If it were that easy the world will be dull and boring. Not poking fun, just saying.
I don't know where I fall in this fan biz truthfully. Some might think that I long for the old ones over the new ones, yes that is true, but that doesn't mean I despise the new ones...
I will admit this: After I played ETD I stopped playing Spyro games because I thought they were just going to recycle the same thing that happen before. Yet say its completely different from the old ones. But now that I see this new Trilogy, perhaps, just maybe there is hope.
But wait, you said it yourself that you prefer the old over the new ones.
Yes, and still do. Why? This is why, because the old ones had a better execution then the new ones. What does that mean? It means that someone had an idea / concept, and the team that was able to grasp that concept executed superbly, or executed so well that it went over the expectations of what their publisher or leader had originally thought.
I don't hate, loath, despise, or whatever negative word you can can come up with for this new trilogy. But in turn I don't like either. So what do I like and what do I hate about it? I actually enjoyed the idea of Spyro being this prodigy like dragon. Found it to be specular actually (A little Nickeloden Avatar'ish, but good nonetheless). I enjoyed the Idea that Spyro's main enemy was a Purple dragon bent on destruction. Loved it, it was "en fuego!". There are more ideas / concepts about this trilogy that I loved, but I'm feeling a little listless posting them right now.
But what I don't like, is the fact that the people who grasped this concept executed horribly. Whether that was their fault or Sierra's fault it doesn't matter to me. I can't really give Krome or EL an A for effort because I don't know their work history or ethics. I can't really blame Sierra either, because I don't know how much involvement they had with each Dev team.
So, I can only go with what I got, and that's the games. People are going to argue, fight, bash, you name it over anything and everything. But that doesn't make it all bad. In fact I actually like seeing people find faults and if not dislike certain things about the old and new trilogy. It means to me that whoever has Spyro can't get away with everything. Because someone out there, will catch, it and will make note of it and share it to the whole world(IE post it on the internet).
Who knows, maybe I'm not fan but a critic :?: . Or maybe I just a fan who really wants to see someone execute the ideas of someone's so well that it will blow our minds. I know it won't happen over night, but that doesn't mean I wanting a Spyro game right here and now. I want them to take their time on it, and cycling their ideas and make sure that are hardly any cliches rip offs, you name it in the story and game engine.

Re: Turning Spyro into something he's not
If people prefer one thing over another that's just how it is...it's human nature to disagree over personal beliefs....no use in really arguing about it because it's not going to prove anything. It's all out of our hands...so all we can do is speculate about what the next move is going to be.

Yes, When Humans argue, they do not care what it is going to achieve, they just complain, and hope it will be better. And you know what, people do it ALL the time. On Forums and in every day conversation.
As Much as The TLOS games are around, and the old games not, There WILL be complaints and arguements, and there's nothing you or me can do about it.

That's a good outlook to have because yes we don't know just how involved these companies are in the development process. We don't know if they really care about the character or not.
Over the years that I have been in business I have learned that companies will go for wherever the money is waiting...and they will do everything they can to make a good profit out of something....so is Sierra just mooching off the franchise?...Certainly....but that's what every company is in business for.
I have said it before....but having passion behind development is a gift that is not see very often....it's hard to have good developers who truly care for the finished product....but it's harder to come by with games that have as rich a development history that Spyro has with Insomniac...but even they were thinking about the money when they decided to let go of the series and do something new...they didn't want to risk the collapse the character would suffer in the years to come.
I don't take anything away from the developers who tried to make Spyro into something great....at least they did try...and I can't hold anything against them seeing as how I was not in the office creating every single idea alongside them. I don't know just how much effort and passion they put in....and we never will know.
I can only continue to support whichever direction they will go with the character...I may not like it....like I once did...but things never stay the same...that's just part of the way things evolve...and we cant just hold onto things even when we know they are not going to come back.
We are not going to get a long because yes the fanbase is so split now that nobody is going to want to change...but if Sierra did have any intelligence then they would try to find a way that would please both sides of the argument....but that is very very unlikely...I like LoS for what it is...I like the older games for what they were....overall I'm a Spyro fan...so I want the franchise to continue and have more support then ever...and thankfully...as much as LoS is despised by some....it did bring some life back to the character...and that in turn was much better then where he was heading.

There's nothing in there that I can disagree with. That's all we really can do at this point, and passion for any biz is something of a rarity or if not something only for family biz or grandmas toy shop.
But I think now everyone who comes to this thread knows my position and quite possibly everyone's else as well.

Wait, what do you mean? They'll be unhappy because the style has changed, and the whole style-change thing has been part of the original fans argument against TLOS...
So wouldn't they basically be angry for the same (legitimate) reason that some of the old fans are about TLOS?
