"Something to Fight For: Celeste's Story" by Kale

So, this is my first fan fiction!  Hurray!!
It follows the lives of Celeste and Jin, my two fan dragons, pretty much right after The Legend Of Spyro:  Dawn of the Dragon.

I hope you enjoy it!  And make sure you leave a comment telling me of what you think!  Should I continue?  I'll leave it up to you!

*****

Chapter 1

“Hurry, hurry! Get into the ruins!”
“Move faster!  The Destroyer has almost finished the ring of destruction!”
“The world is coming to an end!”
Celeste stared in amazement.  Chaos had erupted in the dragon city, just as it had started to fall back to normal again.  She had heard that the army was going to stop the destroyer, but it seemed they had failed.  Was this really the end of the world?  She could not believe it.  She could only stare blankly.
“Hey, you!”  Called a rather obnoxious dragonfly.  She snapped back into focus.
“Yeah, you! The Silver one!  Stop quivering on the spot and get into those ruins!” the dragonfly snapped.
“R-right!”  Celeste stuttered as she unsteadily followed the crowd rushing to the gates leading to the ruins of Warfang.  The voices of moles and dragons, screaming in fear around her as the mob of madness descended down the long corridor toward the open space of the ruins.  The yelling buzzed in her ears; the erratic movement hurt her eyes.  When would it stop!
At last she reached the deep core of the ruins, tired and exhausted she slowly stopped running, she had hurt her leg while dashing clumsily with so many others.
“It...hurts...” Celeste forced out of her mouth before collapsing on her side.  All she could see were worried faces, crying children, frantic dragons and moles getting people settled in.  She lost her cares however, when she remembered what The Destroyer would do to the world.  It was over; there was nothing that could be done but wait for death.  These pessimistic thoughts flooded her mind as she slowly lost consciousness.

~-+-~=~-+-~

“Mom...who’s there?” Celeste called from her bedroom in her family’s cave.
“Celeste, stay where you are, I’ll handle this.”  Her mother called back
    “but, who...”
A loud crash was heard from the entrance.  Celeste called her Mother’s name, but her voice was drowned out by the sounds of fighting.  She could hear voices, on she recognized, one unknown.
    “Where is the fire elder?!”
    “I don’t know!”
    “Don’t lie to me wench!”
A red cloud flooded the home suddenly, and before Celeste could react, her mind gave way on her, she began seeing horrible images, from deep within her imagination.  This was fear itself, and she knew who was visiting now.
    “MOM, NO!”
“What is wrong with you?!” Came a male’s voice.
    “NO!! LET ME GO! MOM!!”
“Wake up, *bleep*!” The voice sounded again.
“Mom...I-...ungh...”  Celeste was coming awake now.  She slowly came to her senses realizing the horrible nightmare she just had was of that horrible day when she was just a child.  She wiped tears from her eyes.
“Where am I...” she said weakly.
“*sigh*...In the ruins, where else?  I’m guessing you fainted down here during all of the excitement.”
Celeste looked up, there was a red dragon lying down near the edge of the cliff, looking back at her.  He had a flowing blue hair extending down his back and dark black wings that were flattened tight against his body.  What Celeste noticed most immediately of him however, was his glowing gold eyes that practically shone right through her.
“You were having a nightmare, girl.”  The dragon sighed.
“Who... ah, my leg.” Celeste winced.
“Yeah, you sprained that pretty badly.  I patched it up for you, but you’re gonna have to do the rest.”
Celeste stared at her poorly bandaged leg.  “Where is everybody?”
“Back on the surface, I was there earlier too.” He blinked at her.  “Oh, I guess you haven’t heard the news?  The world didn’t come to an end...clearly.  Two dragons were sent into the burned lands by one of the elders to stop the Destroyer, and it looks like they succeeded somehow.”
“Why are you here?” Celeste was slowly coming back to her senses.
“This is my favourite place to come and relax when things are too noisy outside; I come down here all the time, without the elders knowing of course.  I happened to find you and, well, what, was I supposed to leave you here?”
    “I don’t-”
“Save it, we’d better get back to the city, the elders are holding a public announcement pretty soon.” he said to her, while standing up and stretching.
    “I... thank you...”
“It’s Jin,” He smiled at her while holding out his claw.  “Need a hand?”
“Celeste...” She breathed, averting her eyes.
The two then took flight through the vast open ruins, heading towards the exit.

So what did you think?  Shall I continue or not?

Oh, and here's a picture I drew of Jin, using GIMP and my mouse: http://kaledragonfan93.deviantart.com/a … -118225497
I will be drawing a pic of Celeste when I get around to it.

Hmmm, pretty good. I can think of some published books that you beat. Although "The world didn't come to an end, clearly." didn't quite hold the reaction I expected  smile

But keep it moving. I like the idea of story fourth-person.

It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living.

Here's chapter 2, and once again please comment, your feedback helps my story improve!

*****
Chapter 2:

In no time at all, Jin and Celeste had made it to the city, and eventually landed inside a crowd of dragons and moles alike, who looked very anxious to hear the news.
“Looks like we made it in time.”  Jin said.
“What is this announcement for, Jin?”  Celeste asked.
“Probably just to give everybody an update on what’s going on.” He answered.  “Look, Terrador’s here.”
The large Earth elder flew down to the scene and landed atop a small platform surrounded by the crowd of confused beings.  He outstretched his wings, let out a huge sigh and began to speak.
“Ladies and gentlemen!”  He started, “I have gathered you here today to tell you all what has been happening lately.  After our army... failed to stop the destroyer, Ignitus decided it would be best to send two young dragons through the belt of fire and to confront Malefor.  Although, we do not know the details of their journey, we know that the world is now safe, and that the Dark Master has been defeated!”
Cheers erupted from the crowd, and Terrador looked pleased before continuing on.  “and although their whereabouts are unknown, we know that this world could not have been saved without the efforts of Spyro and Cynder!”
Celeste cringed as more cheers sounded throughout the town.
“Celeste, what’s wrong?” Jin had noticed something was wrong.
Terrador went on, but with a more serious tone.  “However, although it is an event worth celebrating, there will be time for that later.  There is still plenty of work to be done!  There are cities that need to be rebuilt, grublins scattered throughout the world that must be eliminated, and fires that must be put out!
“Celeste...you’re crying, what’s gotten into you?”  Jin began to look worried.
“I-I’m fine...” She said through sobs
Terrador still spoke.  “This is why I will be assigning anybody capable of helping out to any one of these tasks.  Over the next few hours you will all be receiving messages on you’re assigned task.  You’re co-operation is greatly appreciated, you are dismissed!”
The crowd began to disperse, but Jin hadn’t moved.
“You’re bleeding now, are you...are you biting your lip?  Celeste, you need to tell me what’s wrong!” Jin couldn’t get an answer from her.  “Ugh, you are a pain, look let’s get out of here, my home isn’t far from here, we can walk okay?
Celeste nodded and let him lead the way.

~-+-~=~-+-~

Before long, Celeste found herself inside a small building sitting on a bed she assumed was Jin’s.  The home was very messy, but she could tell that it made Jin feel like he belonged.  Something she had longed for for years now.
“Are you feeling better?  You really looked disturbed back there.”  Jin asked with a smile on his face.
“I think so...I’m sorry.”  Celeste looked away.
“So, what was wrong with you during Terrador’s speech?  I think I deserve an explanation.”  Jin sat down beside her.
Celeste looked at Jin for a few moments, she had never told anyone about her past before, and she hardly knew this guy.  Maybe, she thought, letting it out was a good thing to do.
“When I was a kid, my Father left me and my mother alone.”  Celeste began to see Jin looking sympathetic and decided to continue.  “I haven’t seen him since, and I haven’t a clue where he might be.  My mother was my only parent as far as I was concerned.  Then one day, there was a visitor to my cave.  My mother immediately ordered me to stay downstairs when she saw who it was.  I... I heard sounds of fighting and shouting from upstairs, but was too afraid to help her.  Very soon, a dark red cloud came from the front of the cave, and I lost consciousness.  It’s mostly a blur now, but I had heard the visitor’s voice before... it was the... ‘Terror of the Skies’.”
    “Oh no...” Jin’s eyes widened.
“Yeah, it was Cynder.  The Cynder who has supposedly saved the world from destruction is the same Cynder who... killed my mother.” Celeste could feel the tears forming in her eyes.
“I’m sorry to have... I didn’t mean to bring that up.”  Jin said slowly.
“It’s okay... it’s about time I got that out of me.” Celeste closed her eyes.
“You shouldn’t cry Celeste, it doesn’t suit you.” Jin put his wing around her.
“Thanks, Jin.” She forced out a smile.
There was a knock on the door, and a burly voice sounded from outside.
    “Is Jin home?” It said.
Jin got up and opened the door, a small mole was standing there holding a clipboard in his right hand.
The mole stood up straight and began to speak.  “Good evening sir, I am here to relay your assigned task given to you by the dragon elders.  You are to go through the forbidden tunnel to the Valley of Avalar and help out at the village of cheetahs that reside there.”
“Oh, I’ve always wanted to see the valley.” Jin said excitedly.
Celeste got up and walked to the door. “What about me?”
“Oh, and you are?” the mole inquired politely.
    “Celeste.”
“Let’s see here.”  The mole looked to his clipboard.  “ah, yes!  Celeste you have been assigned to the Valley of Avalar as well.
Celeste and Jin looked at each other.
“You may leave whenever you like, good luck you two.  I must be off now.”
With a small bow, the mole turned and strolled down the street.
“Well, I guess that’s that.  I’d better be going now, thank you for bandaging my leg, Jin.”  Celeste said shyly.
“Hey no problem, have a safe trip home.” Jin smiled at her.
“Yeah sure.” Celeste started out the door.
“Hey Celeste wait, I just had an idea.”
    “What?”
“The forbidden tunnel is boring and dark, how about I take you on a little detour?  I know a great place that’s on the way to the valley.”
“That sounds great.” Celeste smiled again.
“Awesome, meet me here tomorrow morning and we’ll head out, okay?”
“See you then.”  Celeste took flight towards her home feeling a little odd.  She didn’t remember smiling that many times in one day.
