"Who would want to do this to Dragons though?" Petalance said as she carried on walking. "Do you think that.... Well.... Other Dragons could have done this? I know that we have no other real natural enemies except, a mad few. But wars go on all of the time between ourselves."

Petalance looked over her shoulder at Zyrnoth.

"Yeah, but does it take a lot to annoy Krucifi? It didn't look to me like it did." She looked forward again. "Trouble is, is it just Krucifi having a mad-half-hour, or is it something bigger than that...."

Arus narrowed his eyes. "All the more reason for us to stick together...and certainly more reason for you to care about this situation. When we get out of this city it shouldn't be a problem losing him in the countryside...and I'm quite sure that four dragons stand a pretty good chance if we stay as one."

Arus felt a more strengthened resolve within him. For some reason he felt it was his duty to get them all through this. Didn't know why...perhaps finally finding others like him brought this upon him....but within the past twenty four hours he had experienced many new emotions already.

He slowly looked over at the female dragon beside him. Giving a slight crack of his neck Arus couldn't help but stare a little...after all....he had never seen another dragon ever nevermind a female dragon. His mind screamed at him to focus again but the mental messages were ignored.

"Didn't that hurt?" Petalance said to Arus, refering to his neck, without taking her eyes off the landscape around them. She noticed that even though they were pretty much out of the city there were still structures on the sides of the road, old buildings or shelters perhaps?

Arus broke out of his trance enough to reply in a semi intelligent manner. "Um...oh no....I'm use to it I guess. Kinda happens thanks to nearly having it broke years ago."

Arus looked at her gently. It wasn't very often he brought up the past....but he had read her emotions clearly, and she was more then worth telling.

"I was just a young dragon then...no more then a decade old. I was still learning the ways of this world. Learning to fend for myself.....but I still wasn't big enough to defend myself against the larger predators......but I have to say that Wolves are very dangerous when hunting in packs."

He turned away again...unsure if he wanted to share the exact events of that day with someone.

"Don't I know that...." Petalance said, interrupting as she clearly saw that he was uncomfortable. "Me and my two older sisters were attacked when we were.... I don't know, about 15. Our brother jumped in and saved us by shooting the Alpha with an earth bullet. Wolves haven't bothered the area since.... Though my brother has a scar on his chest to prove it.... No wolf is unbeatable though." As she said the last part she cast another glance at Zyrnoth, wondering what he would say to her comment.

Arus looked back at the silent water dragon before turning back towards Petalance. "Well....that's how I got all of these scars...at least most of them."

Arus pointed towards a scar over his left eye and another that ran from the top of his right shoulder across his chest. "Needless to say it's still made me stronger......the wolves nearly killed me that day....but for some reason spared my life. I was found and taken care of by a few of the remaining cheetahs in the area......but have since learned that involving others in my affairs is not always the best for their safety." muttered the dragon while giving a sympathetic glare towards her.

Petalance cocked her head to one side and then replied:

"My experiences quail in comparison.... Being attacked by wolves is about as 'exciting' as my life has gotten... Until I met all of you.... Trouble seems to follow us around now, I used to always say I wanted a bit more excitement, its why I left home in the first place.... But I think I got more than I bargained for...."

Petalance smiled, he had managed to comfort her. Ture, she had gotten more than she had bargained for, but at least she wasn't on her own. Not anymore. She looked forward and was silent for a while before she spoke again.

"So, where are we actually going?"

Arus smiled slightly. "I know somewhere outside the city where we can relax for a little bit and figure some things out....I created several "safe houses" all over this continent if ever needed....although I never thought I would actually use them. Trust me though....it's about as safe as we're gonna get around here. Hopefully that insane creature doesn't find us first.."

Arus snapped his head to the sound. The ground shook slightly beneath their feet as a large plume of smoke extended high into the darkened sky. The rain was still falling, albeit more slowly.

"Could that be your wolf friend again Zyrnoth?"

Reevan had been startled when the explosion occurred, but the travellers didn't seem to have noticed when he carelessly snapped a twig

For a very small amount of time, he had been following them as carefully and silently as he could; not on the actual road, of course, but hiding alongside it. The structures helped, as did the springy vegetation that muffled footsteps.
They had been travelling with a purpose seemingly apparent... Wherever they were going, it was probably a fairly protected spot involved in some commerce. And if not, well, at the least if that water dragon got alone, he might be able to remove that shiny metal trinket covering his front...

(Reevan believes it is armor, not... whatever it is. At any rate, a removable object.)

Petalance spread her wings and flapped them a couple of times experimentally.

"Anyone up for flying up a bit to get a view and see what's what? I don't think going any closer is a good idea, but still...." She trailed off, she didn't want to openly admit that she was just curious.

She didn't have to. Arus felt her questionable and curious nature from the moment he first sensed her emotions. "Well alright then I guess it wouldn't hurt to take a look. Let's go."

The black dragon extended his wings and lifted himself towards the sky above.
