Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
Free-flight could have been so much better than it was, and it forced some changes in level design while still creating frustrating barriers to players. That said, I'm glad they put it in, I just hope they work to improve it before releasing it in another game.
And for pete's sake, get rid of those stones! There's no point in giving players a cool new ability to only to randomly turn it off for the occasional platforming sequence (I wouldn't have to climb this vine if I could fly just a little higher!). In reality, free-flight should have resulted in major changes to the entire game design, but the devs wanted to have it all.

I didn't mind the game but it could've been much better...I mean,I loved the flying and all that but it didn't last too long..Anyway..I think that it was at least better than the other two TLoS..

Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
I liked the other two better. I don't think Spyro should've had free flight. He's never had it. Jump-and-glide has always been Spyro. It just has.

Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
I'm pretty sure that it has been said before, but the whole free flight thing is a joke. They had to enforce pretty much the same limits anyways...so what was the point other then to sound appealing.

Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
Free flight also served as a faster means of traveling than walking. This let them create "larger" environments, although they didn't really feel that large.

I know, but think about how much faster we could traverse the Valley of Avalar while flying rather than walking.

Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
I'd say about twice as fast, if not more.
The whole flight thing did make the game more visually appealing, but the limits they put on it made more opportunities for platforming. Although they were short and sometimes easy, they made a nice break from constant fighting.

Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
I think it was not the worst game ever, but it's not very good game in my opinion. . It was too easy.
I hope the next game will be better.

Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
Just quickly...
Compare BeautifulCynder's avatar to her banner.
In her banner, Cynder is BLACK i.e. the color she is supposed to be.
Hallelujah!
Anyways...I didn't like free-flight. We should have had like a few levels of flying, like in ANB. It was too limited! They wasted all that time on something not much use except in one level because of the huge river that flowed through it, time that could have been spent on making the game better.

Re: Anyone NOT like DotD?
I dislike DotD. -.-; I almost regret getting it now.
There are some nice additions in it, I'll admit. The graphics are stunning and most of the character designs I liked. :3 The addition of free-flight was cool, though it was a bit quirky and had annoying limitations.
The characters themselves bored me after a while. Sparx made it funny sometimes, but most of the characters were so typical. I still really like Spyro, I just wish he had more independence and more of a fighter-attitude, instead of just letting Cynder wail out on him near the end. The whole time I was thinking "Don't just stand there, Spyro, hit her back! After all you went through, saving her countless times, get back at her!"
It was a sweet notion to not want to bring her harm, but the whole world's at stake! There's just some things you've got to do. xD
Hopefully the movie will bring my opinions of the current franchise back up.
