The Legend of Spyro: The Piano Collection - I need your help!

Greetings again, all!

It's been a while since I've last been here, honestly. >_> I should keep up with you a little more often.

Anyway, I've come here today to promote something that had been in the works for over a month, and that is me doing a piano tribute album for the Legend trilogy. I've wanted to do this due to the overwhelming response for people seeing me play "This Broken Soul" on it, and so I felt happy to take it to the next step.

This is where YOU guys come in. Due to the undersupportive nature of my Youtube subscrubers, I've come here in hopes that you would be a very big help in this field. I need songs to play for it, which means I would like you to request me to play any song from the Legend trilogy.

These are the songs that have already been confirmed to be on the album:

* Overture (Cinematic) [PREVIEW]
* Spyro's Homecoming (ANB Credits) [PREVIEW]
* The Night of Eternal Darkness (TEN Celestial Temple ~ Celestial Cave Action ~ Spyro's Dreams)
* This Broken Soul
* Twilight Falls (yep, all 3 cues from that level in one!) [PREVIEW]
* Burned Lands [PREVIEW]
* Guide You Home (I Would Die For You)

I want MORE songs than that to play though, so if you have a song in mind that you want to play, then DO THAT. I would LOVE to hear back from you as soon as possible.

But if I get nothing in a week, then the entire album will be CANCELLED. Harsh, I know, but I put the blame on my ever-so-oblivious Youtube subscribers.

Anyway, please - I want to hear back from you. Thanks for responding in advance big_smile

Very good idea to come here to the forum, you're bound to find some that are interested in your album big_smile

Well you have the support of the Moderating crew, I personally have never heard you playing LoS music on the piano but if you have your own album or are planning one you must know your stuff.

I haven't studied the music really closely but if I get any ideas I'll let you know smile

*cracks Fingers*

A swamp hide n' seek: The first music you hear in ANB, or the tutorial stage so to speak... its tempo is slow and I think it could be a good start.

Liar : Outside of Cynder's citadel or the Catacombs from DOTD... again this "should" be quite easy, slow tempo and quite spaced out.

Train chase: When you are pursuing Steam for the first time in Mutinous Forge... faster tempo if you can do that one, then more power to ya. smile

Gondola: I'm not sure on this one, heck I don't think I can play this one on Piano... but if you can, go for it. Also this is the music you play when you are riding, well the Gondola in Tall Plains.

Those are the only ones that I think can be put into Piano... I used to play piano when I was way younger, so if you can take these tracks and put them into Piano version, then I'll be greatly entertained.  :*bleep*in:

Well, I wasn't expecting the sticky O_o but the response I've received from the places I've pimped (except for DarkSpyro) is flippin' amazing, the pair of you included. I offer a much belated thanks for your help; you both have pretty much helped me start filling up the tracklist a lot more.

Due to my decision to split it up into 3 acts of roughly 25 minutes each, it's going to be tough to fit everything in so far but I'll see how far I can go. Again, much thanks for your contributions; very much appreciated big_smile

Not a problem, such projects deserve attention big_smile...hopefully the stick will help you out with that.

Re: The Legend of Spyro: The Piano Collection - I need your help!

*had to rewrite the post again... D:*
After considering of hearing the Spyro music in piano form, I must praise you for making a recreation of the Spyro music pieces in a piano form. :3 I think it might even attract both of the composers if there's enough voices in the internet. big_smile For example, the piano version of the ANB credits felt wonderful to my ears... the sound of the piano pieces, heartwarming if you ask me.

Here are a couple of questions for this project:
Did you play the piano or used a program to simulate the tune while adding in the notes?
What kind of recording tool did you use?
When did you start this project? Not too long ago?
How did you exactly reproduce the tunes?

Note that I haven't heard all the LOS music, so I might not be in very much support since I'm trying to get the games so I can play them in order. So I don't want to spoil myself at the moment! XD But here is a small tibit of requests, "Black Powers" from The Eternal Night, and "Valley of Avalar" from Dawn of the Dragon. They're both wonderful! ^_^

Re: The Legend of Spyro: The Piano Collection - I need your help!

Consider the requests set. It doesn't matter if you haven't fully played the trilogy yet - it's the support that counts.
As for your questions:

* If you saw my recording for "This Broken Soul", you see that everything happens realtime through a Yamaha E403 keyboard.

* The recording tool of choice is Steinberg's Cubase SX software - I'd never go anywhere without it smile

* I had been wanting to do the project since the announcement of Dawn of the Dragon, though I never really had the time since finally playing it to get the ideas off the ground until just last Summer. The first preview, "Overture", was released in mid-August.

* Everything is done by ear - I make out the melodies and most of the riffs, figure out how the hands should play them, and start playing out the ideas into practice.  I've been doing videogame piano material for nearly 5 years now (this being my first one ever), so this kind of thing comes naturally.

Once again, much thanks for the post big_smile

I've listened to your piano skills and I must say i'm truly impressed!

Keep up the good work!  smile

P.S. You could try the Floating Islands Level theme, it would sound great on the piano!

This is great music. I thoroughly enjoy these piano renditions of the Spyro
music that you played. You have talent. Don't ever give up on that talent,
either. The ability to play a instrument well is something to be cherished.

I looked on both iTunes and Napster for this song. It has an actual name,
which is "Credits (With Choir)" on the "The Legend of Spyro - A New
Beginning (Original Game Music Score)
" album.

Floating Islands song would be nice. It's from Dawn of the Dragon.
The Dam song would also be nice. Also from DotD.

Both of these songs can be found on kneubuhlmann.com website.
