Re: Spyro: The Mirror Shards (fan game): Newest Update: 5/1/2010 - NEED IDEAS
Ratchet, I would be willing to draw up Level designs and names along with character sheets, but i need to know about how large the level can be and how many characters there will be and whats the final boss to be like? Since im training myself to become an author i have been able to get out of writers blocks and make things up to reach from point A to point B. Since the Game plane is only in one Dimension it will be easier for me since I have little Big Planet and I could build it myself to test and see the difficulty on that and relay it to you.

Re: Spyro: The Mirror Shards (fan game): Newest Update: 5/1/2010 - NEED IDEAS
Dragon protector X, that sounds great! I will put 10 "mirror shards" in one level. The levels are about 1.5X as a super mario bros 3 level if that gives you an idea. usually there is a linear path and subparts sproting off those. 2 or more sub areas per level, and 2 minimum shards per sub area (Exceptions)
As for the last boss, Dont really worry about that. and more than anything i need ideas. sheep is happy to sprite....i think
also i use game maker 7

Re: Spyro: The Mirror Shards (fan game): Newest Update: 5/1/2010 - NEED IDEAS
Ok and those Sub areas, are they to be like another path to a dead end with a goal to get those shards? or like re make a whole new smaller map for like a gate or something that will be there that the path separates to?

The sub areas are like minigames, like in spyro 3. though its ok to have different rooms for different portions of the level

That should be fine. It won't take me long, unlike when I was in South Africa and it took me 2 hours to do anything

Re: Spyro: The Mirror Shards (fan game): Newest Update: 5/1/2010 - NEED IDEAS
Hey Ratchet, if your creating your fan game with PNG files, I recommend you to compress your files... with PNG Monster!
http://www.vbgore.com/PNG_Monster
You'll be amazed on how much size your game will shrink. PNG files have a "lossless compression" coding. Basically, it means if you use this program to compress your images -- they will be sized down yet retain the very same image, yet load faster. Cheers!
In my world, I believe that there are many, many ideas that are waiting to be created; by inspiration, renewing an old idea, or just by accident.

Re: Spyro: The Mirror Shards (fan game): Newest Update: 5/1/2010 - NEED IDEAS
Ok Sorry about the wait heres some minigame ideas
1. races against flying enemies
2. cannon based games
such as lighting and aiming a cannon to a specific object to get points
and also hopping in one and aiming to get to specific areas like maybe from cloud to cloud
3. cloud based games
like using cannons to launch, ladders, and flight to get to cloudsbut the clouds are all different, some are lightning some are snowy and some are regular, and some bouncy when you land on a snowy you might freeze and be in danger of sliding back off. And lightning would make you shoot higer upward when you land on it.
4. Arena classic waves of enemies that you fight until its over. With some special like invincibilty that fall every now and then.
5.obstacle cources. whatever your scenery is can make a timed course of jumps glides climbs and whatever else you can do to get to the finish in the time alotted.
6.egg thieves like on spyro 1 chase them down through an area and get the eggs from them but only by ramming.
7.sports against enemies like football soccer and basket ball
You coul push a ball around past enemies to get to a goal in soccer.
In football you could hold it in your mouth and try to ge to an endzone point ad if you get hit enough you drop it. basket ball you could push it and then ram it to try and get it in the hoop.
8.gem riding
a big gem that you sit on and steer down a hill to try and collec as many little gems as you can before you reach the bottom.(by going over them)
9.sky diving into targets.
10. Helping a friend character with a task
like finding a certain thing for them,or defending them while they try to do a task
11.memory
let say some special gems only work if breathed on with the right breath in the right order lets say it lasts about 10 blinks of a color representing a breath on 3 to 5 different gems also could work for getting past doors and traps.
12.find and break
like the elder stones or whatever there called in ANB,you have a time limit to find an smash them all in an area, each smash giving you more time.
13.riding a vehicle down paths
lets say a train cart where you must ride down a path and turn it a certain way when something is blockin it an duck when somethin is over you and also it could crash and you have to tr and fly to the next one.
14.hide and burn
enemies run off in a enclosed area with many nooks and crannies and you have to find and torch them(or ram or any breath) once you find them all a wall opens and you escape.
15.Dark paths
its pitch black and the only light you have is what flame you can produce theres holes that could be fatal and traps activated by stepping on foot pads if your not careful.
If you want more let meknow and tell me what youthink about these.
And if youneed help with the story, characters, or design, or anything else really i can help just let me know. Sorry if my typing is off my keyboard is old an failing.
