Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

Face it. The new spyro games suck and they have not even started on a sequel. A cheap movie that is most likely a rumor suposobly developed in Korea just might come out. Its now going to be in movie theaders if it does exist it will be on an imposible to find DVD. Spyro is doomed unless they make games exactly like the new ones, not just x, square, Triangel,Triangel, x , x, circle, custreen, boss, game over, credits. Spyro is doomed and we should all face it that eventually spyro will die alltogether and this site will be frogoten. Please do not spam how great the new series is unless you have played the 3 originals

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

Well, there still is a chance for Spyro. Look at Fallout. Who ever heard of fallout 1 and 2? Now it's a huge success! (of course bethsadaids great programming may be the biggest factor...) Or Batman, every one of those games SUCKED and the franchise was passed around more then currency! And then, all of a sudden, being the bat isn't comparable to knifing yourself in the kneecaps with a rusty spork.

True, our purple prince is hitting a rough patch, and this movie may do nothing but make us hate some writers and a few voice actors. True, Spyro may end up going under the radar and maybe completly under alltogher. Let's say all that does happen, no matter what crap game he's involved in, as long as dragons are around, people will always saw "What about Spyro?". The responce may be "he is retarded" for a wile, but it is enevitable that he will become popular again. (fashion runs in cycles, belive it or not platformers are making a comeback, so are RPS's)

As stated above. Everything is equal in death, and eviltilly Spyro will die out completly, as everything will. No amout of kind words can mask or alter that fact (I'd know, I've tryed!!).  "It is a great sin to ignore happyness wile it lasts in favor of lamenting one's fate."   ((and we will always have our "wonderful" fanfics wink  ))

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

Although spyro has been crap recently theres still hope and true we do still have fan characters and people who can make stories better then a game might ever be. The only real slight chance of some game or movie happening is if the franchise is bought or developed by someone who knows what they are doing and what the remaining fans want, and new things to attract new fans. For what he is/was in TLoS is pretty pathetic. More than half of us that use this site could do better. And some people have in a fan story i'm sure.
But maybe we'll get lucky and somehow someone new will take over and do something awsome with him. Or maybe something else of that sort.

I liked the new series, but I loved the old series. Note the significant differance between like and love.

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

kinda like me. except I love the new games and like the old ones. weird. anywho I dont really care what most people think about his future. saying they should bring old spyro back and all. I am personally excited for Spyro's future. now that he is like a real dragon an all (not to mention I looove blizzard! <3 <3 <3). I love that it is more complex. kiddy games are cute. but now that I am older im looking for different games.

don't get me wrong I still love kiddy games. (example being I adore Viva Pinata) but I am kind of sick of the cuddly nintendo games. I have a wii but I hardly use it. I mostly use my xbox now. which in a way explains my hunger for the future spyro. (being exposed to different games, like halo, fable, borderlands) I wanna be a big flying dragon that burns things. not a tiny gliding dragon. and again don't take this the wrong way because I honestly dont care anymore if you hate new spyro. go ahead and hate it. it's your opinion.

But if you do hate new spyro (or old spyro) then I doubt you are a TRUE spyro fan. I am NOT saying I am a true spyro fan. because I know I'm not. I'm not even close. if anything I am a bigger fan of dragons in general. But a true fan of anything would love it through and through no matter what. at least that's how it seems to usually go. ok, that might tick people off by saying that but im not saying that anyone who hates new spyro isn't a fan. just not a die hard spyro fan.

im not try to make people mad. if it really ticks you off that bad then I apologize. but I will not argue with anyone about it. its just what I think. and you dont have to care what I think.

I respect your opinion, SapphireSheep, but I disagree with what you said at the bottom of your post. I count myself as a 'true' Spyro fan, yet I hate TLoS. Why? Because TLoS is not the 'true' Spyro.

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

well it has been confirmed that there will be new games. it wont be the 'Legend' of spyro anymore but it will be based off everything from the Legend. the Legend was basically used to introduce a new story and to introduce spyro all over again. along with introducing new characters.

Thirded.

I'm kinda sick of hearing the "you're not a true fan" argument to be honest. I'm not going to blindly love everything with the name "Spyro" on it no matter how much it sucks.

I guess I'm a "true fan" of the original Spyro. LoS may be calling themselves "Spyro" games, but the fact is it's a completely different dragon than Spyro really was.

And as for LoS being more mature.... I disagree. I think it tries to take itself too seriously and tries to seem more mature but fails. Thanks to those games, I almost believed it was impossible to have games with good epic storylines, but after getting into more mature games on Xbox 360 recently, I've discovered that it is possible. Just not with a little purple Gary Stu of a dragon and a cliche plot.

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

The future is still early to give up.

I've been a Spyro fan for about 10 years (even know I had a 3 year absent [Jan 2004 - Nov 2006])

The reason that Spyro wasn't that much heard of than before, because all of these other games has overtook the popularity (like Halo, Gears of War, Call of Duty, BioShock, Mass Effect, ect.).

It's not because the newer version of Spyro. It's all these other games that took over the popularity is why. If these games wasn't made, then Spyro will still have high popularity, even with the newer look.

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

Well, of course, but only because those games are much higher in quality than Spyro. Take out the competition, and of course Spyro's going to be more successful because it's the only thing available, no matter how bad it is.

From my experience, the newer Spyro games are considered by almost everyone outside of fansites to be of poor quality. They've also gotten generally poor reviews, and not just because there are better games out there. The fact that some games are good doesn't cause other games to be worse.

Uh-huh.

And I don't want Spyro to be all that popular, anyway. That's how you get fantards.

Yea and there are also alot of crap games comming out. With the Craptastic LoS Series came the Craptastic Crash of the Titans. The first game was not that bad, but it just crashed with MoM.

Fact is the writers are running out of ideas and we gamers are getting the same thing over and over again and that is what makes it crappy to us. Say it with me. "XXXX Goes to XXXX to XXXX". Period. That is what all stories I have seen are based off of now.

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

Fact is, video games now, not just LoS, are trying to be like each other while trying to offer something different. All FPS games use the same mechanics, MMORPGS are literally the same despite setting. Its not the game, but they are just using ideas based on what people like. Even though I like LoS, it could still use the extra 'oomph' with some ideas.

And here I am planning on getting ownership of the Spyro Series once I get a game studio up and running and create a popular game franchise. HOORAH!  :*bleep*in:

Unfortunately, its too expensive to be 'original' in the video game biz. What that means is that, if you want to be original then you better have enough cushion money to bounce back on if your original idea fails. Its a safer and possible cheaper route to stick with what the video game market is considering the best genre to sell. Of course you'll have those fans who don't give a crap about the market, like me, but in reality its  majority rules and minority, well you still have your rights, right smile..... <_< yeah who cares when didn't win right?

Good luck for your video game co too, btw

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

well dude...I have played the original Spyro games. in fact I practically grew up with them! those 3 and pretty much every other spyro game ever made on the playstion 1 and 2... I love those old games, could tell ya any detail about them from memory, but... I do also like the new Legend trilogy as well. very much even.

The end is only the end when all the fans give up on the franchise! Even if they are not planning to make any more games ever. as long as there are fans, we can change that. one of us could get a job in video games and might be sucsessful enough to get a crew and do it themselvs, the way weve always wanted it to be... of course you can't please everybody...different tastes and all, But the point is AS LONG AS THERE ARE FANS LEFT THERE WILL BE MORE GAMZ. I grew up with spyro! that's why I'm a die-hard fan...And I'm not the only one out there. I mean C-mon we got a freakin forum and were not the only forum on the net! Spyros not dead yet... and he never will be unless we all die off. and that's not gonna happen for at least another 50 years cause of me and people like me.

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

The whole thing with Spyro "dying" out is that unfortunately, trends change as much as we change socks! Sadly, our hero seems to be really bogged down and I don't think it's just because of the new Spyro games, I think its also due to the fact that kids these days are OBSESSED with overly gory FPS's (first-person shooters)! Not that I necessarily have a problem with shooter games, I love shooter games but this generation seriously needs more Adventure games like the Old Spyro games that have a sense of comic humour to them, not just the emo/angst serious business attitude seen in the new Spyro games.

Yup, definitely not English.

They should have done that in TLoS, but did they? No.

Re: Face the real future of spyro the Dragon

I've met some "true Spyro fans", they're the ones who love EVERYTHING about Spyro, good or bad, they disprove of everything that ISN'T SxC and adamantly believe that the movie has been delayed again. They're funny to me and irritating to some. I had a little back and forth with one over SxC and she called me a sadist because I enjoy annoying the SxC fantards...Clearly she doesn't know what a sadist is.
