Nintendo

Does anybody besides me think that Nintendo would have cared better for Spyro if he'd been exclusive to N64 instead of the PS? Nintendo pretty much owns the kid market, and if Spyro was as successful on the N64 as he was on the PS I reckon they'd have made sure a good company got it.

Re: Nintendo

What your saying is if Insomniac made Spyro for the N64 instead of the PS, and if Nintendo liked Spyro (rather because of its sales, or over all design) Nintendo would have scooped around for a good developer that they know and trust that would continue to enhance the series?

IF so then its possible BUT, they tried to do that with Star Fox. . . and it wasn't pretty <_<. Star Fox was Nintendo's on creation from the start and they haven't made a game for it since Star Fox 64. Since then three different developers tried to make Star Fox and they all got pretty mediocre scores because of it <_<.

A lot of old Star Fox fans (myself included) didn't enjoy the sudden change of perspective that the new Star Fox games ventured to. Star Fox Adventures was a Legend of Zelda clone, Star Fox Assault was just bland and inspired, and Star Fox Command completely, and quite possible metaphorically, killed Star Fox from ever having a sequel.

My point is that Nintendo, even from that time, seems to be only interested in their big, big, big, top sellers. Which at the time was Mario and Zelda. Even now we still don't see Donkey Kong games for the Wii and or Nintendo's hand-helds as much as we see Mario games.

My point being is that, Nintendo needed to have some sort of soft spot for Spyro in order to give it the attention as they do with Zelda and Mario... OR create a sub team that is dedicated to enhance Spyro within their corporate offices like they do with Mario, Zelda, and some other games.

Do I think that Nintendo CAN do it, of course they can, but WILL they do it? I highly doubt it. It would be nice to see if a big time veteran company like Nintendo try to enhance Spyro, as well all know Nintendo is quite picky on some of their games and they will deliberately delay it if doesn't meet their standards (Blizzard does that too BTW smile). Also Nintendo is also know to poke fun at themselves for the games so it should be a nice match-up for Spyro wink... IF it ever happens hmm

Re: Nintendo

I wouldn't be too sure. Seeing as Nintendo have had their fair share of rubbish and shovelware.

Yes, but one Star Fox game was done by Rareware. If any company would do a fantastic job on Spyro, it would be Rareware. Look at Banjo-Kazooie - it's a legendary kid-based animal collectathon.

I just think that Nintendo would have cared for him more. The publishers of the original trilogy were all like, 'Well, we're done with Spyro - I know, let's give him to a company that have never made a game before and hope it doesn't turn out too badly!' Nintendo, as their publishers, would have thought more thoroughly and handed him to a developer that actually knew what they were doing.

If we didn't have EtD then I bet that we wouldn't have TLoS.

True, Rare is a good developer, at that time. Since its migration towards XBOX Rare was... split. Besides Star Fox Adventures as a game that was previously and completely different from Star Fox and any other game known at that time. However, Nintendo thought that Sabre, the main character at the time, looked like Fox and so the horrible transition commenced.

Also note, that Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and bolts was completely 180 from the original Banjo-Kazooie franchise. Nonetheless, Rare does have that whimsical charm despite their 180 transition from Nintendo to Xbox. Don't know how they manage Spyro but it does look promising... :-|

All in all, Nintendo IMO, does have a higher chance of making a good Spyro game. They really use the 2.5 - 3 yr time span wisely and to their advantage. If Nintendo can provide the resources and budget and let some well known Developer make Spyro, then I would think we got a good Spyro game coming our way.

However, Spyro in its current state, with Activision and Blizzard, as its publishers... its possible that we might see better quality games do to Blizzard's involvement. It might take a while but I rather wait for a good game then get a mediocre game instantly <_<.

What makes you say that?

ETD was the game that started the decline of Spyro. IF not for ETD, they might not have felt like they needed to reboot the entire thing.

Oh, makes sense. But the handhelds came before ETD and those were also bad

That is true... it looks like we may have to wait a while for a Spyro or a Crash game for that matter.

Guess that shows how much I know about Activision, I could have sworn that COD was made by someone else, guess I was wrong hmm

Re: Nintendo

If Nintendo owned Spyro he'd have a spot in the Super Smash Bros Brawl game imo-that would've been awesome. :-P

Re: Nintendo

I've been thinking that Nintendo would do a great job with Spyro.  Most Nintendo exclusive games are very high quality.  Plus, they rarely use the same exact gameplay and style twice.  All Mario games have very innovative features, like in Sunshine, Galaxy, and 64 (which paved the road for all 3D platformers).  a long wait between games from the beginning could have made the original Spyro even better.

Yo, Spyro
I'm really happy for you, but Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the best platformers of all time.

Re: Nintendo

i don't think thats a really good idea because most of the people don't own a nintendo 64 and it will be better if they put spyro characters on supersmash brawl if there is a supersmash brawl2

Re: Nintendo

Well if Crash got in there i see no reason why Spyro could not.
