I think it

Ever since Enter the Dragonfly, Spyro has had multiple breaths. What happened to good ol' fire? Eh? It was interesting at first but it's just got tedious now. And gems? Gems used to be collectables, but now they're just...well there! It's upset the simpleness of the game by getting too complex. I don't want fancy graphics, I want a fun game.

Don't get me wrong, the Legend of Spyro series is good...but the first series was just awesome!

If they could make a Spyro the Dragon-ish story (an arrogant purple guy, not a modest hero) with gems and things, but with awesome graphics, that's what I'd love.

wink

Re: I think it

You pretty much said it all for this topic but still the extra breaths are okay, i mean he is "the purple dragon the on who can defeat everything at age 7" so yea he should still be able to do more breaths otherwise hes no different from      a regular dragon.

Re: I think it

I agree with you! Spyro is an arrogant, cocky purple dragon who loves toasting sheep with his flame breath and collecting shiny gems! Not a modest legendary hero because of his SCALE COLOUR who can't breathe fire without getting gems!

Plus.

Love intrests.

Cynder. Liked her when evil, but when she was in TEN and DOTD she was just a wet drip. I wanna smash the screen up when I see Spyro and Cynder. It's so obvious. <_<

Since when was he a special dragon? In the pre-TLOS years, he was a regular dragon who, through being really lucky, found himself needing to be a hero. In fact, if he can defeat everything at the age of 7, you get a lack of fraility, with makes the game less interesting. For instance, in Devil May Cry, you will die constantly because the bosses can kill you in four moves, unless you duck and weave like a circus acrobat with rabies. Or oblivion, where you can be the most powerful mage you can be, and then get eaten by a troll.

Walking into a fight when you know you will win is worthless, walking into a fight knowing that if you push yourself to boundaries you never thought you had, you might pull it off is a whole lot more fun.

Re: I think it

One of the most disappointing things about the Legend of Spyro series was Spyro's new Gary Stu personality.

And as for the breaths... in ETD through SL, at least the breaths were useful for solving puzzles and things like that, but in LoS, there are a million different, totally unnecessary ways of killing enemies with breath when just plain old whacking them or using fire works just as well anyway. All it is is another way for Spyro to seem more "special" because he's the legendary purple dragon in the prophecy.

Re: I think it

I agree with Stormy.

(Could somebody PLEASE tell me how to quote?! It doesn't work when you press the quote button!)

They were used as puzzle solving in AHT, particularly the water breath. I spent ages working out that shooting water at the water wheels could make them work, not jumping on them. In TEN it pretty much gives away that you need to use fire to ignite the lamps. -_-'

Spyro being a hero was through a flaw in the original series. He wasn't big and strong; he was small, but he was fast. That was how he managed to dodge Gnasty's spell. Coupled together with his cocky personality made him a hero, not a stupid prophecy and a drippy personality.

A mistake the writers made with TLOS, one of many. Making Spyro a demigod was idiotic and short-sighted.

@Scarlett-Fear-Dragon, do you have BBCode disabled? I can't think of any other reason why the quote button wouldn't work.

Re: I think it

One of the things i disliked in the original spyro series was that spyro was not a hero because he was a good fighter, or smart and confident, But because he was the only one able to do the thing that he needs to do. In the next couple of games, they changed it and made it that spyro was just the only one who DOES do it, But it usually didnt make sense.
In enter the dragonfly, why werent the elder dragons doing anything, i bet they were stronger and faster than spyro. And in AND, I find it hard to belive that cynder killed armies of dragons when spyro could defeat her very easily (Or was Convexity breath the only thing that was more powerful than normal?). Its not like spyro was stronger than say ignitus, he could kill armies in one shot, the only downside was that he was really old. wouldnt a dragon in their prime age be able to own armies...and cynder?

This is what happens when I press the quote button. And what is BBCode? How do I enable it?

I've often wondered about that too, Ratchet. And when Ignitus was fighting the apes in the invasion in the Eternal Night. It took him lots of energy to simply kill a few when Spyro can use his fire breath and knock a whole bunch of them out.

The Guardians are either really weak, or Spyro is a Gary-Stu.

Most likely the latter.

In TeN she was stillok IMO because she was all Emo and "Its my fault I can't look at  you knowing I did this" and she felt pittly and she was been hard on herself but in DOTd they riped cynder APART

she never gave a s*** about her past, she just gave the chetas evil's when they said anything to her
She was bratty
She fell inlove with spyro; In TeN the love of spyro and cynder was still not clear at all i meen it only made them out as friends but in dotd they suddanly out of no where fell in love witch was a load of BS

Re: I think it

I would have preferred if if they were siblings.

Come on...Spyro doesn't need a girl. I mean, I'd like him to pair with Elora, but Elora can kick butt as it is. She isn't pink and powdery and look-at-sugary-sweet-me; nor is she all emo and drippy or declaring love to Spyro after knowing him for about a minute. To be honest, Elora is the only girl I think (true) Spyro could really get on with. Drippy Gary-Stu Legend Spyro can go with who he likes.

BBCode is all the markup tags that make quotes, bold text, italic text, urls, etc, appear. You can enable it by going to your profile and checking yes on "Always allow BBCode."

Re: I think it

Thing is, we hate arrogant, cocky people in real life.

We also hate drippy people in real life.

But there's a difference. Arrogance - you need an arrogant person in a film or game, it brings it alive and makes them likeable.
But drips just dampen the whole thing down...

+1 I liked Elora alot better than Cynder.

I know this thread is old people but still...

Three words for ya Ratchet: Power of Darkness... there you go. That's why Cynder can 'kill armies of Dragons' and carry off the Guardians... And the only way to stop it was to have some prodigy or prophetic hero to save the day... It's just another cliche Activision pulled at of their hat, dressed it up a bit, and make it look like it was brand new... *groans* just, ugh! <_<

I don't think Spyro should love anyone. Come on, this guy saves the world for God's sake - could you run around beating monkeys up with some drip girl clinging to your arm?
