Old Spyro
Let me start this whole thread out with saying how much I love Spyro. He topped Mario on my favorite video game characters, and Spyro won out agaist many of his games as well. I absolutely adored exploring new, vibrant worlds, filled with silly, quirky, and geniunely likeable characters. In each game, there was no plot, but that didn't really bother me. I didn't need to know why I needed gems, or how the characters were in two places at once. Spyro was a series that didn't need a serious plotline, or deep characters. In fact, the lack of seriousness and emphasis on unexplainable wacky behavior, events, and minigames, really added to the atmosphere. This was a game that knew what it was, and was proud of it.Go box a yeti, play hockey with frozen cats. I used to ask, what's the point, why? But it doesn't need a reason! It's a Spyro game! To me, a Spyro game was to relax, to explore. This was a game that didn't try to make you focus on story, because it would be a detriment to it's main theme!Sure, there was always some impending doom, but it always took the backseat to adventure, to have fun, experience. Because, after all, isn't that, what video games are all about? Well, what about the gameplay you may ask, wasn't it repetitive? In all honesty yes, but it wasn't that important. Gems, eggs, orbs, it was all a means to an end! To explore strange new worlds, meet strange new creatures that inhabited them, mess around, or better yet, play. That was what Spyro was all about. Now, over the years, Spyro stuck with me, and with each title I played, even if they wernt as good as they originals, still filled me with nostalgia, of a true gaming legend. Now, I see people say games don't need story. They say "Look at packman, and space invaders!" But they don't need to go that far back. Whenever people say that games need story I say Spyro. And not once has that failed to bring the argument to a standstill. Now, I've always been faithfull to the series, stood up for it, even when it deserved criticism. But I can't anymore. The legend of Spyro is my last straw. They took eveything the series was known for, and abandoned it. They put in a cliched story. They ruined the atmosphere, and made it overly dramatic. The gameplay was changed and over complicated, from the emphasis on exploration and collecting, to combat. Even the characters are unlikeable, the only thing shared between Both universes characters is names. Now, when I play the legend of Spyro series, or hear about that movie, I'm no longer filled with nostalgia. Just anger at the massacre of one of gamings classic legends into something unrecognizable. And sacrificed for what? The cliched storyline, and buttonmashing combat? The annoying characters, and horrible platforming? This whole series didn't gave ANYTHING to do with the original, it didn't even have ANY of the same characters. This was just people making mediocre games, piggybacking on Spyro's fame. Yes the series needed a reinvention, but not a massacre! Go back to the beginning, you just might learn something.

Re: Old Spyro
I think the appropriate title for this topic would be 'Which direction you think Activision will have the next game go?' instead of 'Old Spyro', cause your first post only talks about how you like the old Spyro than the new one and the franchise in your opinion.
I personally think they should continue in the LoS universe. I mean, Activision wouldn't make a good Old Spyro game if they tried to make it as good as the original three.

Re: Old Spyro
Don't really have too much of a opinion on which direction Spyro heads towards with Activision. Though I like both Old and New Spyro, I still think old skool Spyro is better. But for the sake of keeping Spyro alive, I think it'd be better to go on with the New Spyro but there seriously needs to be big time improvements to the overall atmosphere of the TLOS games such as taking away the dark and srs bsns attitude from all of the characters, but not entirely, but just enough to throw in a good sense of comic humour and a more happier attitude to any of the future games. Also, I think that gem collecting should be reincorporated back into the new games for CURRENCY not for making your breaths more powerful or whatever BS the gems were used for in the TLOS games, instead I think there should be large spirit diamonds that generate energy for healing your character and or recharging your breath mania, or even better, bring back Sparx's never ending hunger for butterflies! Seriously, whatever happened to Sparx's never ending hunger for butterflies?! Anyways, this is just my three cents for what I think should happen to Spyro.
