Buried in the discs.....

I saw another site listing some strange things buried deep within the Crash Bandicoot discs and it got me wondering..... Do you think there's anything buried in the Spyro discs, accessible only by deep Gameshark hacking?

We all know about Dino Mines' secret level, for instance. It's in the disc, but not used. Could there be other levels maybe hidden that weren't used? Perhaps in an unfinished game like ETD, stuff that wasn't used in the end? What do you all think?

Re: Buried in the discs.....

in Fireworks Factory, there's an area near the beginning that contains a small, hidden cave with a butterfly in it.

there's this in Midday Gardens, but you can't reach it.

if you go under Evening Lake, you can see "inside" the whale, and the cage where Hunter falls into. *warning, you can't get out of the whale*

from my own personal experience, the only things i can add are like when you knock down a wall or door, it's still visible underneath the level.

unless we're talking about The Legend Of Spyro, too. then i could go on forever, especially The Eternal Night.

36IStillLikeSpyro36 - I'm talking about the stuff you can't see via normal gameplay, even with glitches. The stuff left on the disc when they were creating the game, but never got around to using.

I'd like to try myself, but that bags the question - What game to start with?

even with glitches? then i have no idea, sorry. but with a glitch [which is almost as good as a Gameshark, trust me], i'd say start with The Eternal Night. with this glitch, in the area of Ancient Grove with all the jellyfish [the one with that big tree in the middle that you go inside of], if you go to the beginning, go right and around the back, there's a big tree behind the level that you can knock over.

at one point on the pirate ship [near the beginning] you go on an elevator and go up higher on the ship. there is an area across from it that you can stand on that has a working elevator.

in the White Isle, if you go under/to the right of the area where you first meet the insect things with the balls, you can access the area where you fight one of the knights. but at one part on the right side near the top of that, there's 4 small white stone pillars that you can destroy.

i don't know how to explain it any better without an actual video. hopefully this is what you're talking about, and i didn't write all this for nothing =P

the glitch:

Hidden text

if you have Dark Spyro, and go to ice breath, and press triangle over and over, you can move through the air at the same height.

Every one know the midnight mountain one? The three butterfly jars? I'm almost certain they were going to use that, I mean why else would it be there? To encourage cheating? I don't think so.

Re: Buried in the discs.....

36IStillLikeSpyro36 - When it comes to deep searching, glitches are almost completely useless. They found a fully functional level in Crash Bandicoot's data, but it could not be activated by any glitches, because it was completely unlinked to any of the levels.

ember_da_dragon - I believe they were going to have that as the original entrance to Super Bonus Round, but it was cut at the last moment. After defeating the Sorceress, a giant whirlwind would appear and take you over there. It was cut in the end though, but they never removed the area.

Re: Buried in the discs.....

Woah, really? Nothing? Insomniac certainly know how to make their videogames apparently.

But this Enchanted Castles level..... No more info on that?

Actually, it was accessible on the first set of discs that were shipped I believe. I can vouch for this because I used to have that cd that took you to the 3 lives on that island but it broke years ago and now I'm stuck with the "collector's edition" cd that I recently bought that doesn't have the whirlwind (and Evening Lake's music was changed).

Maybe you can find the original cd on ebay, kinda doubtful though cause all I'm seeing is "collector's edition" "knockoffs". =\

Re: Buried in the discs.....

Oh really? I recall playing a Heroes Tail not long ago. After defeating Red leave the cave and return hug the wall until it starts doing that thing where it turns invisble and if you get at it at the right angle you end up at a highly glicthy room. There is a pool where it looks like there is water in it but when jump into you don't swim. I don't know what is going on there. Try it but I have been able to do the glicth again. But this topic has reminded me of little things I have noticed in the Spyro series. Time for some Gamersharking...
