Possible explanation for date change.

It has come to my attention that the reasen for the change in the Spyro movies release date could be to coincide with the release of a new Spyro videogame.  I have found minimal evidence to back this up but it seems more likely than the producers of the movie dropping the project. So all you Spyro fans out there, keep your fingers crossed to see your favorite purple dragon and his new girlfriend up on the silver screen and back on your tv screen!  Remember though... you didnt hear this from me. :-X

Spyro is one of the greatest games of all time ever since the first came out.  He's had his ups and downs but he's even better then before so...

Re: Possible explanation for date change.

They've actually stated that they've cancelled it.... Aura24 contacted them, and they sent her a reply. Apparently it's been cancelled for a while, and they just never said anything.

Re: Possible explanation for date change.

It would be great actually if the reason they once again cancelled it was because they were making a new game.

3D animated film (cancelled)

On October 25, 2007, it was announced that the film rights for Spyro the Dragon had been purchased by The Animation Picture Company.[6] Daniel Altiere and Steven Altiere wrote the script, which was going to be based on the recently released The Legend of Spyro trilogy. The film was going to be coming out from Los Angeles, California and would be animated in Korea by a South Korean Animation studio, Wonderworld Studios. It was also going to produce the movie along with Universal Animation Studios. The film was also supposed to be produced by John Davis, Dan Chuba, Mark A.Z. Dippé, Brian Manis and Ash Shah. The film was to be distributed and advertised by Velvet Octopus along with Universal Studios. Mark Dippe was going to direct the film. This film was originally supposed to be released in theaters on Christmas 2009 for the United States and Canada, but it was delayed and it was also supposed to be released on April 10, 2010, but was never confirmed and has proven to be false. The next day, it was confirmed by Daniel Altiere himself that the movie had been officially cancelled due to decisions made by Activision.[7]

(hate to say it but it got canceled ><..at least spyro wont be ruined at least..like Eragon ruined the book) do i have to keep spreading the truth?

Thats the thing. When it comes to a franchise, remakes don't ruin it...movies don't ruin it....The FANS ruin it....Deny it all you like, but fans ruin a franchise for everyone...Hell, fans ruined the Sonic franchise for me with their petty complaints over stupid little minor details. Don't like it? Don't watch it or play it...Don't be selfish and ruin it for people who actually want to give new things a chance.

God! and here I was hoping the Spyro franchise wasen't gonna go down that road...But you guys are just as bad as the Sonic fanbase...and thats PRETTY *bleep* low...

The LoS series did NOT ruin the fandom. Nor would a Spyro movie ruin it. The fans are doing that themselves by their constant whining and complaining about small, idiotic things. It's the Sonic fandom all over again.

Re: Possible explanation for date change.

Ah I see, people who like the series talking about their opinions will ruin a series, I see, yes.

Oh wait, that's total *bleep*.

What effect does the fandom have on a franchise, hmm? They provide the revenue for one. And they are also something the makers must pay attention to unless they want to crash and burn. Presumably, you think the ruination comes in the second point.

Still not right though. After all, if the developers listen to what the customers have to say, they will churn out a product more suitiable to their customers, and thus, in a commercial and entertainment field, better. Sure, if we don't like something we probably won't watch or play it. What happens then? Spyro is a franchise that is rooted in its fanbase. They try to leave the fanbase, they are going to crash and burn. And the Spyro franchise dies. Simple as. As a fanbase, it is our duty to make the games good, to make the games successful, and to keep our franchise alive.

If all fandoms were to all shut up and simply ignore games we didn't like, their franchises would go downhill. You have to listen to the players and then take into account what they want.

I would have made a better case, I feel, if your post hadn't been so vague and whiny.

Pot calling the kettle black with that last sentance?

Sorry, but no. Fans are ruining the franchise by whining about stupid little things. You can't just avoid the things you don't like about the series, can you? Of course not! That would make too much sense!

I'm not whining. I'm just getting so sick and tired of people claiming that certain things would ruin a series WITHOUT GIVING IT A CHANCE!! I'm complaining because your judgemental whiners!

You all complain about TLoS because it's "not Spyro"...Err...Lets analyse...Purple dragon? Check...Annoying lil dragonfly? Check...Gems? check...Multiple breathes? Check....Survey says...It's freaking Spyro! not Spyro..What a stupid remark...

If a game is playable, I'll play it....Sure i'll like the story, but I really don't give two craps about story and character development.... I just wanna play the game...Hell, Left 4 Dead didn't have a story, yet it's one of the most popular survival horror games around...Plus it kicks *bleep*..

In short...Just play the stupid game and start complaining about crap that actually matters....Like how the NHS is failing...or how BP suck for causing that oil disaster...Or how about complaining about how the goverment dosen't give a flying...duck...about us and spends millions of pounds/dollars on unecessary road works and stupid little 'Keep such and such Tidy' signs when they could be using it to build more houses and shelters for homeless people!

Oh wow. I wrote up a beautiful response to this, and then my computer spazzes out. Wonderful. Well, looks like I'll just summarise.

You're complaining about people who complain about something that doesn't matter. Pretty sure that makes you worse.

It's not "stupid little things" like control configuration. It's the gameplay, the plot, the levels, the flying, the co-op, the lack of shiny collectables, etc.

I've played all of the console games. Gave it a chance, as did most anti-TLOS fans. Also, isn't it odd to tell us with one breath to avoid things we won't like, and then insist we try it.

Spyro didn't originally have multiple breath types, so you just slapped yourself in the face. On a higher level, there's more to Spyro than a purple dragon. It's the feel-good nature, the insanity of it all, the variety. We used to have slugs bazookaing the hell out of a pigeon. And robotic sharks. We don't get that any more. Thus, it is not the Spyro we knew.

TLOS had more focus on story, and yet, had a worse story than the originals (excluding ETD). Again, you slap yourself in the face.

I wonder if you have actually played all the games we're talking about. How many of the first three have you played? Doesn't seem like a lot to me.

Judgemetal remarks agaaaaaain~!

Yes, I've played EVERY Spyro game. Hell it was the first playstation game I ever played.  I like all the Spyro games. Or is that not possible?

While I liked the older Spyro games, they got boring after a while. The games were practically the same story. Over the top bad guy does something over the top. Spyro has to collect or free or destroy certain amounts of whatevers to access new areas. Then the 2nd game introduced Moneybags who takes your gems to open up new areas when really I just wanna fry his big fat *bleep*! Also, the older Spyro games were cute for when you were like 9 years old. But I'm 21 years old now. Bright colours, sparkly collectables and cheesy one liners are not appealing to me anymore. I still play it once in a blue moon. But purely for the nostalgic value.

At least LoS has a solid storyline that took 3 games to tell, which appeals to a slightly older audience, mainly the fans of the older games who have now since grown up AWAY from kiddie games. To appeal to the grown up fans, a more solid storyline was told and a more varied style of gameplay was introduced. One of them was that Spyro could actually fight without the use of his breath powers. In the older games, all you had for a secondary attack was the head butt, which was USELESS against certain enemies. At least with Spyro's fighting moves, he can defend himself from enemies untill he gains his breath back. speaking of the breaths, it's not jsut standard blow fire, electrcity, etc. Theres a little bit more variety to the breath attacks, which is awesome! Also, in Eternal Night we were introduced with the ability to slow down time, which is useful when your getting gang *bleep*ed by enemies. and in Dawn of the Dragon? Spyro did what he, as a DRAGON, should have been able to do in the first place. FLY ANYWHERE! He's a dragon for god sake! He's SUPPOSED to fly whenever he wants. How come in the older games he could only do that in certain stages? It dosen't make sense!

In short, LoS was designed for the fans who had grown up. Frankly, I find LoS more appealing for it's more mature storyline and wider gameplay variety. Also, having Gary Oldman in the games was a bonus for me too. Oh and Spyro actually LOOKS like a dragon instead of some Care Bears reject.

The Sonic games did this too. They started off bright, colourful and kid friendly. and by time Sonic Adventure came out, the fans were a little older and straining away from kid games. So the plot of the Sonic games became more in depth and the gameplay more varied to appeal to it's fans.

For the record, I'm not complaining about the younger fans. Of course they'll find the older games appealing than LoS. I'm talking about the fans that are closer to MY age talk all this bullcrap about it 'not being Spyro'.

It's a purple dragon saving the day. IT'S SPYRO! Get over it! Times change, people grow and video games evolve to hang onto their grown up fans. Deal with it.

Judgemental? Just calling 'em as I see 'em, sweetie.

Fine, just so I'm sure. You just didn't seem that familiar to me.

Hold on a second, last post you said you didn't give a *bleep* about the story. You can't have it both ways. And besides, are you now into gothic landscapes, mindless fighting and linearity?

You could use the word "solid" to describe the story of TLOS. If you ignore the rather out-of-the-blue declaration of love, the inexplicable ending, the nonsensical rubbish spouted by Malefor. And the phantom jewellery. Apart from those small bits (all of which occured during DOTD, suggesting it could have been a decent story up to that point), solidity could be attributed to TLOS. Interest, originality, and critically acclaimed however, could not be use. Also, that slightly older audience? 12 year-olds.

And to the gameplay. Varied? As in you get to both walk and fight? Variety in the fighting yes, but the originals had hockey, different characters. There was variety as in different things to do, rather than an expanded single thing to do. Plus, flying whenever you want? It was like being in a plane covered in bondage gear. Hammering X was the only way to move and it still didn't work if there was a slight breeze.

Once again, 12 year-olds. Plus, who are you to say what dragons should or shouldn't look like. They don't exist! There is no basis for their appearence in fiction! Terry Pratchett made dragons that were size of dogs and tended to explode when threatened. And I for one didn't bat an eyelid.

So that's why video game franchises die. I've been wondering. Eventually the fanbase grow too old, or die.

Listen, darling, you can make any number of games featuring purple dragons, but unless they match up to the standards I personally have attributed to this franchise, I will not recognise them as "Spyro". That makes me think actually. Perhaps we should see what the fandom as a whole regards as "Spyro". See what the mean is.

A movie would not have ruined it.

Sonic sucks full stop.

spyro fans ruind it for me.

a film. ruins it for me compleatly.

the only sad sad thing is...

the film was killed off unfortunetlly the fantards can't be.

Okay. You REALLY expect me to take you seriously? You can't even freaking spell properly.

Learn to spell first before trying to debate with an adult.

The LoS series did NOT ruin the fandom. Nor would a Spyro movie ruin it. The fans are doing that themselves by their constant whining and complaining about small, idiotic things. It's the Sonic fandom all over again.

Re: Possible explanation for date change.

This is coming from the one who takes a video game series way too seriously...

Oh thats rich! Coming from what I've seen in this forum.

I am just so SICK and TIRED of these so called fans clashing at each other for the most idiotic reasons!

'OMG! I hate the new Spyro! This isn't Spyro at all!'

Do you realise how STUPID that sounds? I hate the fact that because someone dosen't like something part of the franchise, they immediently refuse to acknowledge it! It's stupid and idiotic.

I don't complain about the games. That would be pathetic. I complain about the fans! Why? Because fans destroyed the Sonic franchise! Sonic fans are ridiculed and abused now, all because a group of fans took things WAY too FREAKING far!!

The Spyro franchise is going down the same road as the Sonic franchise! A once great game will be ridiculed because some morons here decided to take things too far and B***H about the most stupid, insignifficant little details!!!

Gaming has gone down hill and I blame the fans! You coulden't just enjoy the games you like and ignore the ones you don't like. NOOOOO. you had to go proclaim your never ending hate and will continue to complain, cry and moan about 'how a series has gone down hill.'

Yeah. The series is going down hill. BECAUSE OF YOUR IDIOTIC B*****G!!!!

Sorry, all I saw was whining about fans that are easily ignored.

Yeah. Because you don't want to admit that the series has gone downhill....Face it...The Spyro franchise is going in the same direction as the Sonic franchise...and thats why I left it...The fans destroyed something great...and now your doing the exact same thing..

You know what...If you want to be ridiculed for being obsessive, whining fantards, then go on then....I give up on this series...Maybe it's a good thing you destroyed it..

Re: Possible explanation for date change.

ACtually the fans didn't ruin it.

The LoS team did when they completely ripped off of everything and made a *bleep*y game series that is srs bizniz. And it fuckign sucked. You don't want to admit it so you blam ethe fans. Fans are ignoreable. The story, however, is not. You are annoyed with it so you think the fans are ruining the series.

Excellent coverup
