I agree with Rurik. I found the story and characters (especially LoS Spyro and Cynder) unoriginal and unbearably cliche.

Also, for the millionth time, what happened to no arguing in this section? -__-

Yeah I acknowlege its faults. But for the record how many books has each of us read? And what AAA book series have you read? Im just trying to get a feel of how many stories we've all absorbed over in our life times. For me I've read most of Dean Koontzs work and all Harry Potter, Eragon etc. Plus so many other things. But hey everyone is a critic and to be quite frank its hard to come up with original ideas these days. (did anyone else notice how similar DOTD was to Lord Of The Rings??)

Spyro isn't the only series that is getting slammed for unoriginality. The Halo series gets it too. Fantasy Action and Scifi titles take the most hits I think and they need a break. Sure TLOS wasn't what it could be, but it wasn't a complete disaster. Im not trying to cause an arguement because that would be juvenile. Anyways, what were we talking about??

Like it says in the rules threads, we don't really want debates and arguments in this section of the forum. If you want to debate about the quality of LoS or Cynder as a character, this isn't the place to do it since this is supposed to be a thread just for "Cynder-haters." Same goes for the Cynder fan club: we don't go there and bash Cynder there. If you make another topic or find an existing topic about Cynder's character, I'd be happy to debate about it there.

Honestly I'm really thinking about trying to get this section removed. It's pretty pointless and barely gets any activity anyway.

This is the thread of my dreams. LoS was the worst thing that could have happened to the series. It was such a fantasy cliché. It's like Elijah Wood refused to work unless they made the game EXACTLY like his beloved Lord of the Rings. And Cynder, well, no. Just no. She just made the series even more cliché.

It seems like Estranges Libellules and Activision made Cynder the same
level of importance with Spyro, which is downright wrong. I don't mind the
addition of Cynder, but don't make her a primary character like Spyro.[/cololr]

She's an important character, and they were chained together in the last game. If one of them were to die, the other would have a very hard time getting to Malefor.

Still would of beaten Malefor but i guess it would of turned spyro into a villain or anti-hero.

Having lose cynder and Iggy would drive him off the edge.

How can you hate such a hot dragon, despite the fact that she's not real and is a complete figment of our imagination?! tongue Blasphemy!

So ya, they should have made her ugly or fat just to balance things out. Or they could have killed her off in the first game, which would have never started the horrific sh!tstorm of fantards that were sprung from Activision's loins.

Maybe then fanfiction would be actually fun to write.

You can't compare Zelda to Cynder.

First of all, none of the Zelda games have a continuous linear storyline from game to game like LoS. Many people expect changes in Zelda.

Second of all, "The Legend of Zelda" is just a title. They could have perfectly called it "The Legend of Hyrule", "The Legend of the Master Sword", "The Legend of Ganondorf", or even "The Legend of Link" (which they did call it in the second game I think).

Third of all, people expect continuity between games of the same type. The reason people were upset when TLoS games came out was because it lacked continuity from the old games, which is why most refreshes end up horrible. Same thing with DotD, the gameplay was changed drastically, and one of those things was Cynder. I can bet you that there are an equal amount of people that dislike Cynder that also dislike the flight, or the boss types, or even Hunter.

LoZ is an exception to the continuity, as is Final Fantasy and other games that change from game to game, because it has the continuity OF changing. It's kind of a deep idea to think of, but that's how most gamers work. One example was Starfox Assault, where many complained of the on-foot combat. It was a great idea, but gamers just don't like drastic new additions to their favorite games.
