Spyro is Legend

When a person or thing creates an impact on society or history, dpending on how the story is told and who tells it, that character is labelled as LEGEND.
Recall the movie "I am Legend."  In order for a character to be seriously considered a legend, it implies that they are dead.
An argument against a game about Spyro's offspring and such states that it wouldn't be a Spyro game without Spyro.  However, a dozen generations after the dawn of the dragon would allow Spyro, provided he's dead, to be an entity like the chronicler or a spirit that burns within each dragon during the current moment in dragon history.  And the best part is that LoS have already paved the way for this possibility.  And Spyro will be in the game, just not phisically.  Imagine playing as a dragon you created and then to defeat your enemies you unleash the fury of Spyro.

Re: Spyro is Legend

And as Ignitus said in ANB, "...feel the power of your ancestors coursing through your body.  In times of crisis they will come to you and teach you... unlocking powers you never knew you had.  Just forget everything you ever thought you knew... forget yourself.  Only through forgetting will you remember what your ancient blood already knows."

"Learn, next time, to unleash the real dragon within you."

the 4th LoS title would be called "Generations"

Re: Spyro is Legend

The Legend of Spyro was a trilogy. And Spyro obviously lived at the end of DotD.

And by the way, you could've edited your first post and added your new words in it instead of double posting.

^This.

And eh, I'd rather play a game with Spyro himself, classic or TLoS, rather than his spirit or anything.

Re: Spyro is Legend

Who knows? The LoS universe might continue in the next Spyro game, since the trilogy was made as a starting point of Spyro's universe and its characters, similar to the Original trilogy and the same characters continued from there until the reboot.

We don't want Spyro to die now, do we? [The mostly-correct answer is no.]

Re: Spyro is Legend

Why do some of you guys insist on a new spyro game that has all of the same old stuff over and over?  It seems any idea for a Spyro game that hasen't been done already is automatically dumb.  Isn't there anything you'd like to see new?  Or are you really Spyro fans to begin with?

Re: Spyro is Legend

Good point. I have seen that often here and there. Of course, Spryo isn't the only one. People keep requesting for a sequal for a game they like by putting a number in front of it. HL Ep. 3 for example. (Not that it's always a bad thing.)

So back to the topic: After some time passes, what becomes of Spyro? I don't exactly expect the same "purple dragon" cycle. In fact, it'll be a long time before he dies with a 1000+ lifespan. Huh, you think physically he looks like a teenager but mentally could be an adult...

.....Because I'd rather they stick to what they have now. Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't make them any less of a fan.

I've seen some really good ideas for a future game that hasn't been done yet, classic and TLOS. But playing a SPYRO game without the main character alive sounds pointless, even if his spirit is there.

Do you see Mario changing every time?

No.  I don't like Mario games for that reason.  The last fun and original Mario game I've played and enjoyed was Super Mario Bros. 3.  Everything else after that is just another Mario game.  Nintendo makes money off it mostly because of the Mario brand.  Unfortunately, Spyro's franchise isn't good enough to sell itself.

But that's just it - Mario is popular because he remains the same. There are other series you can play if you're bored of one series.
