I think it would be a hilarious stunt to officially confirm they are siblings. It would be a huge bomb dropped on the SpyroXCynder crowd.
That could also be a reason why they wouldn't do it.
Wake me up... when September ends is here...

Given the bad name the Spyro/Cynder crowd has given the franchise and the fandom as a whole, something could stand to be done about it, but I doubt anything will beyond the pairing being ignored in all future installments.

Cynder saying "I love you" isn't different from Luke Skywalker kissing Leia before he knew she was his sister.
Back in the day, though, that was a pretty big "WTF" moment when they revealed that...

Are you kidding? Most of them are perverted scalies who would just be like, "Oh, so they're siblings... Incest? KINKY!!!"
Anyhoo, I don't think they should be siblings for a number of reasons, and even so, it's very unlikely to happen.
While the GBA version of tEN specifically named them brother and sister, the publishers weren't pleased when they discovered that error, and have since made it official that Spyro and Cynder are not related. And the last scene in DotD was completely intended as a romantic moment.
So maybe they ought to be siblings to un-cliché the story a bit, but it's not going to happen.
