Re: Spyro Modifications

If someone built a level editior or some tutorials on how to make a mod, I'd like that. I think you'll need to use a emu to test it though.

Re: Spyro Modifications

A heros tail plays on PCSX2 but EXTREAMLY slow.
Enter The Dragonfly just blanks out, Does not even get into the game.
ANB I have not even tried yet, I will now but i would not even *bleep* with that *bleep*.

You could also do it on a chipped PS2, All i've worked out is how to change all the text in the game, Any text anywhere i can change.
I'm getting swap switches put in my PS3 just so i can mod spyro.

If anyone knows what any of the files do exactly or any info let us know, I want to start creating spyro mods.

The swap switches are only so i can play burnt PS1 and PS2 games, That way i can actually play the mods, But i was thinking ujust now i will actually start with Spyro 1 as there files won't be as much on lock down as files on PS2, I will start with some small texture mods (If i can even work that out." Somewhere there is a list of software they used to make the game, Maybe if i can find that that will help.

Re: Spyro Modifications

If you have the swap switches you just burn it on a normal DVD disc.

Re: Spyro Modifications

Go to google, type in spyro 1 downloads and you should get tons of results, and i know how to do it on dvds but i havent figured out Blu ray disc yet, mainly cause it can store way more than a dvd, i could put all three spyro's on one if i could work out some bugs.

Re: Spyro Modifications

well if anyone would try to make a level editor it would be very hard and if anyone tried to use it, it would be very hard to.
but i really want to see some spyro hacking tools in the future!

Re: Spyro Modifications

Why don't we all do a *bleep* load of research and put something together......
I was thinking more along the lines of finding out exactly what the programs they use to creat the levels and just use that, It shows it on the making of spyro video but i have to find out what the name of it is.

Re: Spyro Modifications

Insomniac developed thier own level designing program to efficiently build Spyro 1, 2, and 3, as the same engine was employed for these. Tweaks and improvements were made to the Spyro 1 engine for 2 and 3, but the original 3 are all on the same engine. Every Spyro made after Spyro 3 had its own engine built from scrap.

Re: Spyro Modifications

We can make it ourselves.
I mean, I've seen a Mario hacking forum, where they hacked Super Mario 64, and made A LEVEL EDITOR.
Yes.
We could always ask him for a little advice, but please, don't go insane. He worked for over a year on this project... and Its finally finished. But, all it can really do is move and replace existing objects with other objects in the level. So yeah. It doesn't edit the polygons or anything, atleast... not yet.

So, if he can do that, we can make one for Spyro 1/2/3. Just little edits with the code to make it open 1/2/3 stuff, like, for 1, deadly water, but in 2, Metal sharks. You see what I mean?

Take note that the PCSX2 can't emulate all PS2 game fully yet. It takes awhile until there's a patch for newer games.

Ahh ****! They gave spyro to VU games but they never gave someone the level editor? I'm jealous.  <_<

Re: Spyro Modifications

If someone can get me 3d models of spyro characters and objects, I can try my best at a level editor.

Re: Spyro Modifications

Your sure? Just hope that the pure pressure of all this work piling up gets to you. I did modify a model of Yoda once for JKO (Jedi Knight: Outcast). When I was done, He looked a little different. All I did was give him tattoos.

Re: Spyro Modifications

I could probably extract all the files from the first three games but that's gonna take weeks with Hyper Ripper. Maybe someone could slice a disc image of the game.
