every level of my game loads lovely, as a game should :I all levels except Sunny Flight and Crystal Flight
my disc isn't too scratched or anything, every other level loads perfectly... makes me sad to think I'll be at 98% forever and never get to play Gnasty's Loot :C

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
Yes. After a time it couldn't load Icy Flight or Alpine Ridge. Spyro keeps flying and nothing happens.
Though it is not too scratched, lazer it. You know, like they do in some shops, take a thin layer off and erase scratches.
I did it, though there were almost no scratches and it worked perfectly again.

Nintendo has good disks, but if the slightest problem happens to the reader, you lose your Wii for a couple 'o weeks...

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
ah! yes, that's exactly what happens to me... Spyro flies endlessly :v
this disc was just one my friend gave me to play until my order of all three games comes in :3 long story, so I probably won't bother buffering it unless I can find somewhere that does it for free
thanks for the replies guys ♥

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
It hasn't happened to me on this game, but on my old copy of Crash Bandicoot 2, only some of the levels load. It'll just have a black screen while the Playstation sounds like it's having a seizure. I wish they would make their games more durable.
I think I've gone through 2 copies of Spyro the Dragon for various other problems though. The most annoying was the music skipping. I mean, you can't play StD without the great music.
This is a bit unrelated, but does anyone know if you can play PS1 games on a PS2? I thought you could, but my Ps2 won't play any of my Ps1 games. It does have a problem reading regular disks though, so I was just wondering if it's a problem with my Ps2, or you just can't play those games on one anyway.

I have never had problems with playing PS1 games on mine, so I believe it is your Ps2.

Games like StD and CB are fragile. The smallest scratch can ruin your game. It became worse with me (Yes, CB2 was broken). I couldn't even start it up normally, weird sounds came out of it and then I could only play the intro, then saved. No level could be entered. Looking at my memory card data, no save file was created. Instead, three grey blocks were there. "Corrupted Data". I could not erase it.
I went to lazer my disc. I was happy, and it worked again like it did before, the corrupted data disappeared.
Your Ps2 needs a fix. Probarbly the reader is broken. A Ps2 should be able to read PS1 discs. That's why I sold my PS1 when I got a PS2. It works normally, so I think something's broken there.

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
A lil offtopic. Sure.
Yes spyro and crash are fragile as could be. My Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage disk works perfect except for when you want to start a new game. One of the videos not working ._. ... All because of a scratch that is kinda deep... Already had it filled and it still does not work...
TBH: Personally I think they should just remake the series for PS 3 or something (well PS3 noob here. Do not scream if you CAN get them for PS3) because it is not like the games are produced any more. You could get them on Ebay. Sure if you want to pay $30 bucks for a "SEALED COPY"... Which I just do not believe really.
Ironic MrX-Link, I have had my copy of Crash 2 (Well I hardly played it for about 3 years) and it is in absolute perfect condition. But if a speck of dust gets on it the silly PSX will not read it. I would take it down to a repair shop if I could turn back the clock like N. Tropy... Because I bet there is a problem with it if the PSX is freaking out over a speck of dust ^^.

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
Alright, thanks guys; I assumed it was probably a problem with the PS2.
Not too long ago I bought the Collector's Edition PS1 Spyro trilogy off Ebay. It was very nice to have all the games nice and working again. No way I'm letting anything happen to those.

gah, you Americans are so lucky :c I don't think they have a collector's edition of the PAL version... I would have definitely bought it -weep-
my PS2 is what I'm using to play Spyro D: all PS2s should play PS1, same as PS3 plays PS2 and PS1
reckonin' it's your PS2 that's got a problem 3:
btw, definitely agree with the music skipping point, though I just get around it by muting the in-game music and playing the soundtracks on my laptop c; if anything, it works out better because I can use my awesome headphones too ♥

Aw, that sucks. I thought NTSC and PAL were just different versions of the game, but as you could tell by my last comments, I'm not too smart when it comes to game systems. Good thing the games I got turned out to be NTSC then, because I didn't even check when I ordered them.

Yet another reason why I want a PS3 now. I'm surprised my old PSX still works. That thing's got to be at least 15 years old now...

I don't claim to be nerd standard either but I know enough to prevent myself from losing valuble monies :3 there are tiny differences between NTSC besides the playback~ I hear that the NTSC version has Haunted Tomb music for Cloud Spires in Spyro 3... or the other way around, I dunno XD

still have my old PS1 too, I just can't bear to let it go... ♥ if your PS2 is giving you trouble playing the old games, why not plug in your old PS1 and play? I hear the PS2 and PS1 cables are exactly the same, the PS2's cables are just... black o: to match the console and all c:

Yeah, that's what I was doing for a while. (Before my sister took the Ps1 and Spyros to college) I just thought it'd be more convenient if I didn't have to keep switching consoles. I've played those games so many times over again anyway, it's probably good they're gone for a a while. XD I used to be obsessed with the skateboarding minigames in Spyro 3.
When we bought our PS2, we were planning on selling it, but they would have only given us $15, so we decided just to keep it; it's a good thing too.
I've been occupying my extra time playing Ratchet and Clank now. They're really good, and also developed by Insomniac.

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
The only games ive had trouble with are spyro 2 with the bit inbetween summer forest and autumn plains where hav to skip the movie otherwise it takes and hour to get through it XD, and also spyro 3 when a certain save file wont let me in the bonus area, but ive worked out ways around the probs. Spyro 1 has no problems whatso ever though , but if you want to sort the disk either: get some disk wipes, get it reapired in a game shop or finally change the position of your save file.

I have never had a serious loading issue, but several levels' soundtracks skip during the second half of the song. A little annoying...

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
Been playing the first Spyro on my Ps1 for years. Like you said with yours, I myself never want to let it go.
I love the old thing to death. I occasionally play it on my dad's silver Ps2 though.
I've never really had any level loading problems, well aside from when I was going to PeaceKeepers in the Balloon, but that was a loong time ago.
He never moved from the center of the screen so I had to restart the system.
Every now and again, the music skips in certain places.(Toasty skips like no tomorrow.. gosh. Makes me sad 'cause it's such an epic track.) Sometimes it even plays different music from other levels, say I'm in Clifftown and I turn off the music, then go back to PeaceKeepers, turn the music back on, and it'll still be playing Clifftown's music.
Aside from the mess ups here and there, I still happily play it to this day~
винт это. винт все это и оставь меня.

Re: anybody else have this problem with StD?
Those soundtrack glitches can be blessings in disguise, though. If you're lucky, the soundtrack can skip to alternate versions of the soundtrack that are unheard throughout the game. And there are quite a few of them:

.__. I never knew that was a glitch when that happened. I always assumed the game just thought I might be getting bored of the level music after looping the same thing five times and wanted to play something else for me.
If I remember correctly I'd always get the Magic Crafters or Peace Keepers alternate when running around Haunted Towers trying to figure out what to do. XD
