Re: Adult Spyro

You beat me to it, SpyroGirl! smile (Granted, I'm still waiting for my copies of the original trilogy to arrive in the mail.) Odd... I always remembered that background being white...

Still, this is awesome to see again! smile

Re: Adult Spyro

Have you ever played any of the original Spyro games before?

Re: Adult Spyro

Oh, gosh, yes! ^_^ I have very fond high school and college memories around the original three games by Insomniac. But my copies of the games (along with my PSOne) were lost to various moves (and my sister, who destroys game systems D:), so I recently re-purchased all of them in the form of the collector's edition. I am very excited to play them again. ^_^

I can beat the first game like falling off a log (it's one of a very few games that I have memorized). I only played "Ripto's Rage" once (it freaked me out back in the day, but I don't expect to have the same problem now) and "Year of the Dragon" didn't get much of a chance because I moved shortly after I got it and, as mentioned, it was destroyed.

Re: Adult Spyro

Wow, adult Spyro...  That's kind of weird. o_O His horns are so short, though.

Re: Adult Spyro

A bit of an anti-climax, isn't it? Unless that medallion has some sort of summoning power.

Something about it raises a question - Were some of the elders we see now like Spyro in their youth and were anthropomorphic heroes? And maybe another will come along when Spyro is an elder. Do you think the stuff Spyro is going through right now is part of an elaborate cycle?

Re: Adult Spyro

Well, everyone was a kid at one point or another. big_smile It's probable that at least a few of the elders (definitely those that are leading their tribes now) had their own trials to get where they are today.

I personally think there's a cycle to all of this because that's just how history works (unless enough people notice and consciously make a change; to date, that has not happened). I don't think it's the same for every dragon, but every few generations, something major happens and a few of them end up making a name for themselves by saving the rest.

Re: Adult Spyro

When I first saw that pic in the instruction manual, it puzzled me. Certainly doesn't look like the young Spyro we all know, but I could imagine him as this when he grows up. He looks like the typical Artisan dragon.

Re: Adult Spyro

I still think that's an older Spyro. You've seen how different the adult dragons look from the little ones in the Insomniac games. Also, his horns are the same basic shape and he has all of Spyro's markings and patterns. He probably got the medal for saving the dragons from being trapped in crystal (since this was in the booklet of the first game).

Re: Adult Spyro

I'd guess that this Spyro is at least as old as the first dragon you rescue in the game. His tail spade is the same, but his wings have grown in the natural way and it looked like a lot of dragons grew beards and had different spikes as they aged.

Re: Adult Spyro

I always found the Dragons with beards a bit weird. Guess they couldn't jus give them wrinkles in the 32 Bit world tongue

Re: Adult Spyro

I don't believe that's Spyro's dad in the first cut scene, nor is that his grandfather. Spyro is officially not even an Artisan dragon (his race is unknown, though most would say he's a Peace Keeper). That was just a random dragon talking to the dragon reporter. big_smile

Re: Adult Spyro

But I can't see how They would have camera technology in a dragon world.

Maybe it is just Spyro in a Modern world, like today's world.
