Official "This game sucks!" thread

This is basically an attempt to keep all the negative comments about Skylanders mostly in one place because it seems some users who like it are getting annoyed by the constant bashing. Hate Skylanders and think it's going to suck? Talk about it here instead of clogging up every other thread about it out of respect for the fans. Fans, you're welcome to join in too and debate if you don't mind the negativity so much.

I have no idea if this is going to work or not; it's just something I thought I'd try. If it ends up causing problems I'll get rid of this thread.

I've been waiting for a topic like this.

When I first saw Skylanders, my reaction was incredibly negative. I felt that Activision had truly taken over the franchise. They decided they'd make a kids' game, gave the rights to some cheap developer, and told them to use an expensive peripheral system to make some extra money off of it. The way I saw it, Spyro was just there to make the game stand out more, because he appeals to kids.

Now - while I'm sad to admit that the gameplay looks great, the story has potential, the characters have attitude, and the overall "toy" concept is rather neat - my original opinion still stands (even if it was historically inaccurate), and I still don't intend to buy this game. Why? Because of Activision - not Toys for Bob.

For starters, the way they've put the Spyro fanbase amongst their "kids" audience insults me. Maybe it's me, but I think Activision has forgotten that most of the Spyro fanbase aren't kids anymore. Many of them weren't kids to begin with; because Spyro was once a series that could satisfy gamers both young and old. Apparently, not anymore.

Putting Spyro aside, though, maybe it'll be a good game. Maybe I should buy it, and give it a try! ... However - wait a moment - this is Activision's title. So I need to pay $70 for it. Oh - and to access all the content packed into that 4GB disc, I also need to pay an extra $9-$15 for an additional three characters. And do I want the "full experience"? Let's hope not, because I'll need to spend another ~$100 for the ~25 other characters! (This is only if I import them all from America, where they are likely to be cheaper... minus the postage.)

And indeed, I bet the first hackers to get their hands on this game will be sued once they unlock all the game's areas by their own means. What cheapskates! They don't have the right to access all the content on their disc for free!

I feel so disappointed. This is not what the Spyro fanbase has been asking for over the past three years. Activision have ignored us, and are going their own money-making ways. I'm not even looking forward to seeing the next Crash...

(B.T.W: This was a terribly organised rant. I'm not used to it! Anyway, this is just my opinion, and it is subject to change. tl;dr I hate Activision and will no matter how successful the game is, so let me rant.)

Go ahead and do that tongue , but did you miss the point of the thread? It's supposed to be so people will stop posting in every other thread about how much it's going to suck, leaving the fans alone about it.

What's frustrating about this comment is how well it describes a frustrating Spyro fan about the new game and the valid complaints they can have about. Why couldn't this comment be placed politely in the other threads instead of the pitchfork-sidekick one-liners from Latias.

The older Spyro fans are not the game's main demographic, since the game was made for kids who don't know who Spyro is. That's why Activision is ignoring the harsh negativity and the demands of the older Spyro fanbase.

Maybe that's why I'm so disappointed. The way they seem to think so little of Spyro's fanbase (other than those classed as "kids") is frustrating. They don't seem to want to please us; they'd rather make the money off of a new gimmick instead.

If they indeed weren't targeting the Spyro fanbase - and were not expecting a good fan reaction - then why did they add him into this game? If anything, it'll only re-establish him as a brand new "kids" character, and kick much of the old fanbase out of the door.

But this is only half the reason I dislike Activision, anyway - because they haven't been too pleasing to the Crash fanbase either.

I agree with you completely on that point, but some people are saying that Skylanders is going to be a test to see how well the name sells, and Spyro might start getting his own games again if it does well. Granted, it's likely that if this happens all future Spyro games will be targeted to the same demographic as Skylanders, but maybe they'd be good games that everyone can enjoy anyway.

This game might be good too; I don't know. But I'll probably never find out because there's no way I'm spending that much money on something I'm probably not going to love.

yes. this game is awfull. it can sell 10 million coppies. its still a fail.

Ok sir. I agree with you COMPLETELY on what you said there. Activision seems to think that the Spyro fandom is kids only when it's not. It has a bunch of fans of all ages. Hell look at Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, and Pokemon{Especially Pokemon), There target audience is probably aimed at kids. But the fan following for those game has fans of all ages. Which is why these series got more mature through each game. To appeal to the fans. Spyro however is GOING THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE WAY!!!!!
