That was kind of mean, but to be honest, I live in England, so 9/11 has had virtually no effect on my life. As horrible as it was I can actually make jokes about it because 'it didn't happen to us'.

I don't think he meant it on a moral level. I think he meant on a more "well, it isn't so traumatic to me that I can't have fun with it" way. Also, about the whole "no effect on my life" thing. We did kind of go to war over that attack.
