my mind is being pulled in 12 places at once! on one hand i want to see our favorite purple dragon on the bigscreen but what if it sux? what if its great? will they continue the
/LOS series?
i just dont know what to think.
but i am (anticipating) it

They're going to continue the LOS series they only have 1 more game left in that series, unless they decide to extend the series to 4 parts or more.

We won't know until we see it.

Now my only problem with this is I can't wait. I am expecting anything of the variety to happen - very good or very bad. It will be rated by only that. It is easy to tell if a movie sucks or not.

I myself haven't watched movies for over a year now.

The movie is being made BECAUSE of the sucess of the games, if they games weren't popular, they wouldn't make a film. And the third game will probably be out before the film is released, films usually take longer to make than video games.

Like Spyrofriend said, the games were obviously big hits, enough to even consider making a movie.

Anyways, I really hope they do this. Even if it sucks, I will see it, and if it does, I will love Spyro games even after that anyways. A movie that they screwed up isnt going to make me boycott Spyro. Seriously.

I just hope they use the same voices/music for the movie though, and make it like the really good cutscenes. The games are so much like movies, they wouldnt have to do much more than convert everything to movie-cutscenes or whatever. These games are definently like a movie.

I say go for it. I love LOS and support this %100 because even if they mess it up I will never stop loving Spyro.

They aren't as popular as the used to be...the film would be a flop. If only Enter th Dragonfly and A Hero's Tail weren't made, things would be so different now. Those gave our lil purple dragon such a bad name...

"straight to DVD" means usually that the film sucks, because otherwise it would be shown in theaters. They made FOUR DR dooolittle films? I only saw the first, and the first really wasn;t all that great.

I saw Hoodwinked in the theater though, and mentally barfed because of the 3D and storyline. Calamitas dislikes seeing god knows how many different views from each character.

But anyway, I have a feeling this is gonna bomb. Most game-to-movie adaptations are, and with the Garfield people doing it? ...Yikes. :<

So true. Not many people have even seen those movies that skipped the big screen. Would be much harder to promote. It's a bit hard for me to see Spyro on the big screen. It can happen but.. Eh. I dunno.
Nevertheless, big screen or dvd, I would still go see it. :-P

Something tells me that if this went to theatres it would probably flop, but if it did go to theatres, well, it was good enough to get there! I personally would love to see it on a big screen.

Mayde it would do good, maybe not, Wallice and Gromit did great in the states. But Garfeild did a fat cat belly flop [wait, arnt thoe guys who did Garfeild going to do Spyro?... SOMETHING MUST BE DONE BEFORE THE KILL SPYRO..... AGAIN!!!!!]

I really think it's sad that almost all of you are condemning the movie before it has even set sail to actual animation.

Why don't we hold our "I think the movie is gonna suck" comments, and instead look forward to seeing abit more to our purple hero?

None of us can predict wether the movie will be good or bad anyway.

It really nags me, that many Spyrofans automaticly throw down the new concept that Krome Studios created - They really did a major job bringing back Spyro, and I think they at least deserve some credit for that.
They even read through many Spyro forums and redirected the new series towards a little of the original gaming - not many companys would have done that, but the developpers at Krome do have an understanding of Spyros fans and are trying to make Spyro acomplisch yet another great era of gaming.
They already said in a pressconference regarding TEN that the LoS series is just the beginning of Spyros new series of games.

And just so you know:
It's a common mistake that many fans think, that Insomniac sold Spyro (or gave him away). Insomniac never owned the Spyro franchise - Sierra did, and they always have. When the original 3 game-contract had been forfilled between Insomniac and Sierra, Insomniac stated, that they had no more ideas for Spyros further continuence, and thus the coorperation between Sierra and Insomniac dissolwed.

The publisher almost ALWAYS own the rights to franchise - in this case Sierra, so Spyro never switched hands on that account.
Sierra just found other developpers to make Spyro, and thats how it's always been with games.
The chance of Insomniac EVER developping another Spyro game is just about zero. So I'd advise the ones who have strong feelings towards Insomniac as developper, to forget it - it's not gonna happen guys.

I'm not trying to enrage anyone here, everyone has their own opinions, but I really belive it's sad that people aren't able to like both the old and the new series - they are so different, they cannot be compaired, and in my opinion, it's pretty infair to do so.

I loved the gaming experience in the old series, and I'm a really big fan of platforming games generally. But LoS has something else, that I like - A great story, and that cuts it for me. I do like the fighting experience and the small puzzels but I mainly play the new games for the story, and the great characters that Krome made! I just hope, that in time, they will develop Spyro games with abit more of the old platforming experience that we all know and love. big_smile
