Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
This thread is so I can try and vent all the ideas I've got flying into my head. Here's a list of what I've got thought up so far (and I got NO experience in programming, so if I try to make this, I couldn't until after college if I decide to take a programming path.
EDIT: This is officially now a future plan of mine.
Game name: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (subject to change)
Platforms: PC (I don't think I have the money to get it converted to all the other systems lol)
Genre: Action/Adventure
Rating (Estimate): T or E10, violence, possible multiplayer language.
Characters: Spyro, Cynder, Hunter, Ember, Flame, Bianca...all I can think up.
Storyline: Spyro and his friends have been entered into a strange tournament by a shifty figure. They now have to fight to get freedom, and they all fear of facing eachother. There are some fighting breaks and an adventure spot (similar to the original Spyro series). When the game is beaten, the entire world is now open to explore (complete with world portals like Spyro 1-3).
Features: Arena style fighting in storyline hotspots (the fights in the Tournament Arena). For the first time, online Multiplayer complete with character customization. Pick your species (dragon, cheetah, rabbit, gnorc, rhynoc, etc), their appearances, and their special abilities (mostly focused on dragons in the sake of breath types). The modes are Capture the Flag, Last Fighter Standing (Last Man Standing, we're not talking about humans though, are we?), Free For All, Team Deathmatch, Dragonball (similar to the hockey on Spyro 2), Battlefield King (similar to Halo's Juggernaught), get points by killing the king, but when you kill the king, your are the king. A chat censor is available as well for multiplayer matches incase of profanity. Free for All can be used for online roleplaying instead of fighting mindlessly, and I don't mean like WoW either, you should know what I mean by now on this.
Soundtrack: Remastered original Spyro Themesong (Spyro 1's), I consider this song Spyro's official themesong. Some custom songs mainly ranging around rock, but it will have seperate modes (you can choose your genre).
Controls (can be set): W, forward. S, back. A, Sidestep left. D, sidestep right. F, breath attacks (dragons only). Spacebar, jump. Shift, walk. C, crouch (or for dragons, a ready-to-pounce looking pose). R, charge (works for all, although dragons will cause most damage due to horns). Left mouse button, melee attacks (all). Right mouse button, glide (dragons), will think up more for other classes later. Mouse wheel, switch attacks (dragons, varies from slashing to the attacks from LoS, includes tail swipes) or weapons (for non-dragons). E, block (dragons block with wings, others block with something else). Insert, previous inventory item (left). Home, use selected inventory item. Page up, next inventory item (right). End, view re-center. Apostraphe, battlemode (makes your character look ready to battle).
Being hit and defeated: When your character gets hit, they normally let out some kind of yell to show this. When defeated, the character should fall over somehow and disappear for respawning. You'll have a crosshair no matter what weapon you use.
Maps: The maps can vary from small, duel maps to large full-scale maps (best for roleplaying and lengthy Free for Alls and CTFs).
Game Engine: Looking towards the Quake 3 engine (I've had the most exposure to it), but there will no doubt be a better one by the time I get the experience.
...All I can think up for now, feel free to comment or say your own ideas.

Re: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
The hard part there would be creating the graphics/world engine. Multiplayer servers are easy, but the problem is getting all the graphics in order.

Exactly, you can't just dream about the game if you want to make it real. You have to think about the real stuff.

Re: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
That is exactly the problem I have, I got NO (yells no so loud to shake the Elder's temple) experience with programming, and very little experience in model making (even if that Spyro head I made looked good). Of course, if there are game creaters on this site, I'll let them use this to help make the game...ONLY if they give me credit for creating the idea. Oh yea, and if you want a good example of how this game works, try and find a copy of Star Wars: Jedi Academy (it has the arena style fighting I'm talking about, along with customization, and the Quake 3 engine)

Re: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
start with a story line, characters, and sets, then go from there and think of movements, reactions, etc.

Re: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
Add-on to the first post:
On character creation, you don't have to make a custom character. (This part people should like) You can use the main characters of the game as your player model (Spyro, Cynder, etc.) via the profile screen accessable by pausing the game (won't pause on multiplayer, but the pause bar still appears).
When a player chats, a chat indicator will appear over their heads.

Re: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
Models Addition: Spyro's model will be a mix of the old and the new one: the old one's nose and horns and the new ones body. (Or if people prefer, a remodelled old version, I personally do not like the new version).
The models of the "old and lost" models such as Bianca, Elora, Ember, and Flame will be remodelled as well, but not as drastically as the new Spyro, but their old look with a makeover. I don't know about Hunter yet, as I haven't seen his new version.
The old enemies (Gnorcs, Rhynocs, Riptocs, etc.) will have a model makeover as well. The Apes will have upgraded models to accompany the other upgrades.

Re: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
Add-on to the Game Modes:
Online Story Mode: Have up to 8 players in the story mode in a co-op frenzy! Only 8 players are allowed because...well...think about it, I don't think there would be 2 Spyros or 2 Cynders in Spyro Reality. You'll be in Co-op most of the game, but there is a twist, when you get to the parts where a certain character faces another in the arena, the co-op will still be there as it becomes a team match, 4v4 featuring players only.
Frenzy: A crazed online co-op mode where it's you verses the computer on varying difficulty levels. There total of waves changes on difficulties: 5 waves on beginner, 10 on easy, 20 on normal, 40 on hard, 50 on difficult, and 100 on HURT ME PLENTY! (ROFLOL!!!)...but wait, that's not all. There is one more difficulty level...Legendary Hero. You have to get through 120 waves of insane enemies and...the last 6 waves have a twist...you have to face the OLD BOSSES FROM THE OTHER SPYRO GAMES!!! (Including Gnasty Gnorc, Red, the Sorceress, Ripto, Dark Cynder, and the Dark Master himself.

Re: Spyro the Dragon: The Tournament (Cancelled)
Ok, I'm starting to think people ARE wanting a game like this. I may be 15 and underexperienced with video game design, but who says that we can't come together and create this? I am now officially putting this on my future plans list.
My first order of getting this ready is to get the storyline created. This is a shout to forum members, feel free to help bring this into reality.
