Spyro Fanfic Worldbuilding ideas
So I have this fanfic that I am working on which is basically another reboot to the Spyro franchise. I plan to incorporate many ideas from the original series as well as a few from the Legend of Spyro trilogy. I already have a lot of ideas for what the world's going to be like but I do want some opinions on the matter too.
Here are the things I want opinions on in this thread.
I was planning on delving deeper into the dragon culture. Are there any ideas you have about this?
Dragons in the original series seemed to emit magic and influence their world with it. Do you think I should do something with this?
What different races from either series did you like and would like to see in this particular fic?
Don't be afraid to speak your mind. I can't garuntee I'll take your ideas, but I do want to see what appeals to people.
Liked the original games, didn't like the newer ones. You go ahead an like whatever you want though.

This definitely has the potential to turn into something interesting. Is this gonna be a bigger project, or just a short, quick one?

What do you mean by this?

Thanks, that pretty much clears it up.
I have an story idea that may or may not work. Basically, something bad happens, and the dragons form an alliance with one of their previous enemies. Just a quick idea that I haven't really put too much thought into.

Wow....So far a lot of good material. I especially like the bit about the sea dragon.
To answer Afflict's question on how big this projects going to be, I can't really say for sure. I already have 5 pages posted on Deviantart that I hope to post here. It's written as a script as it's suppose to tie into the idea of a rebooted game series than just a story.
The story part of it I already got down. I won't spoil too much but it does involve the dragons being turned into crystal like the first one.
The Forgotton realms, the 5 Dragon lands, and Avalar are definitely going in. I also want to put a new spin on some of the history. I know I want the dragons to be a bit arrogent and pompus, and not made out to be the ideal creatures some of the games tend to portray them as.

I used that idea in my own fanfic, as well as trying to make my characters have a more natural feel by making them age, marry, have kids- the general things expected of sentient beings (i believe they must be sentient, otherwise, how can they have a culture of their own?)
For delving into their culture, I'd suggest specifying basic facets of their culture, starting with language and religion I actually don't expect them to speak English like in the games; they should have a unique language and a set of religious beliefs. I also believe that you should add details on how their society is organized. For example, in my own fanfic their society is hierarchical, but it is up to you in this regard.
i am Cynder, Queen of all dragons...
Don't mess with me...maybe i WON'T eat you.

An example can be Higher class and lowerclass, and how the class system divides them (or how it dosn't as the case could be)

Re: Spyro Fanfic Worldbuilding ideas
I've always imagined the Dragon lands having certain class distinctions and biases against each other. I know the beastmakers are probably going to be thought as crude and lower class. The magic crafters always struck me as higher class. Artisans were kind of mixed. I don't know. I think it's important to establish cultural differences between the dragons as well as how they are different from the outside world.
