The last Spyro game i bought was enter the dragonfly. After playing that i didn't want to buy new spyro games cause that didn't feel like a spyro game. Those original Spyro games had something special in them. I will never get bored to play those.

For me, the Spyro series ended after Spyro: A Hero's Tail.

I agree. Except just omit Enter the Dragonfly all together; that game was awful. AHT was pretty fun in its own way, not sure why a lot of people didn't like it.

i'm going to guess it was partly the child-oriented influence on the graphics, and the fact that it was too different from the sameness of the other ones. (then, of course, TLOS came out and i'm sure everyone was like "lolwut" at their reactions to AHT.)

I tried to enjoy later spyro games for what they are, but could not. No spyro games are nearly as good as the first 3.
Insomniac made a big mistake ditching the series.

They upset the fans, caused the series to die.
They ditched spyro for some boring over the top franchise ratchet, and a generic shooter Resistance.

i haven't played much Ratchet and Clank, but from what i've seen of it at my friend's house, it seems like Spyro is the better series. shooter games will by default be boring imo.

I don't normally like shooters either, but I love Ratchet and Clank. It's a lot more than just shooting; it has some great characters and fun platforming gameplay. I kind of see it as what Spyro could have been if Insomniac had expanded on it more.

I told myself that alot when i played the first ratchet game.
The worlds were great, and so were the graphics. It makes me kinda ticked that they ditched spyro like that for this game. R&C could of been something good, but all the latest games have taken a turn for multiplayer and other boring aspects. Typical modern game developers. hmm

But anyway, as for the multiplayer stuff Ratchet and Clank has been doing, I know a lot of people don't like it, but I like All 4 One. It still seems like the same Ratchet and Clank even though the gameplay is a little different. Only problem is if you don't have a group of four people to play it with it's not quite as fun.

Isn't it good that Insomniac stopped making games when they ran out of ideas, though? They could have tried to force something out, but it probably wouldn't have been very good.

I just feel betrayed. They still continue the Ratchet franchise even though it basically is all the same rehashed content and never goes anywhere. Kinda ironic that they are not doing new things with ratchet, but Ted Prices supposed reason he left making spyro was "They cant do anything with him anymore". Really?

I personally think there was more to insomniac leaving then Ted Price will tell us. I think he is lying.

Possibly insomniac requested more money for future spyro projects and Universal refused? Remember that Universal published Disruptor and Spyro 1-3 for Insomniac. They had a good relationship. However ever since they stopped with spyro, universal and insomniac never once worked together again.
I think what happened was Insomniac requested more money, universal refused, so Insomniac refused to make a new spyro, so they moved on to sony.
Then, likely Universal was ticked off that their multimillion dollar series had no developer, so they quickly off the street assembled some studio full of right out of college game designers, then started work but only gave them a little time. Then what likely happened was Check Six/Equinox stepped up to ask for more time but universal refused and still made it so it releases in Winter 2002. Then after it flopped, I remember that Ted Price was ticked off in an interview because he was mad at how it failed, and it might make his company look bad since people might think they made the game, so he thought it might hurt insomniacs then upcoming project, Ratchet and clank.

Just a thought, but possible. o_O

I remember seeing the trailer for the first Ratchet and Clank game, and flipping out when it said at the beginning, 'FROM THE CREATORS OF SPYRO THE DRAGON'. xD It had me sold at that moment. I played the first four Ratchet and Clank games, I believe? I enjoyed them a lot, but Spyro has a bigger place in my heart because he consumed the most of my childhood.
