Re: Spyro 1, 2 and 3 remakes (and why they won

Did you actually e-mail insomniac and suggest the idea of remakes to them? O:    I'd buy that day 1.

There are rumors of Insomniac going multiplatform.  Maybe there's a chance...

Yo, Spyro
I'm really happy for you, but Jazz Jackrabbit is one of the best platformers of all time.

Re: Spyro 1, 2 and 3 remakes (and why they won

Defiently i know already that Activision failed to make Spyro 4 and i quess that Insomniac quited to make anymore Spyros just because they wanted to make they first PS2 legendary game series: Ratched and Clank but i quess there will be no remaked 1, 2, and 3 because for me they "fear" they failing and/or its because it all making cost really much...

I m so tired for this all mess for dragons are they evils and killers or not?

Welcome to the forum!

Remakes are quite common in games these days.  You got Pokemon Fire-red and Leaf-green, you got Super Mario 64 DS, 3D remakes of Ocarina of Time and Starfox 64.  They all turn out better than the originals because of added features and improved graphics.

If Insomniac were to give Activision the rights and the code, and they eventually released it, I would definitely buy the remake of Spyro 1, or the whole trilogy if it's on one disc.

It seems unlikely, but if it happens, gaming history will be remade

Don't forget Halo CE anniversary, Sonic CD re-releases and Heartgold/Soulsilver! And yes. I totally agree that it would make gaming history. I don't really see a reason for them not to remake the originals; it would probably be extremely popular among older fans, and probably quite popular in younger audiences too.

Are we forgetting MediEvil being remade for the PSP as MediEvil: Resurrection?

Re: Spyro 1, 2 and 3 remakes (and why they won

They wont happen for 3 reasons:

1. Although spyro and skylanders are not the same series, activision seems bent on abandoning the series and its fans.

2. Activision clearly cares less about spyro.

3. Or its fans.

I wish they would sell the series to someone who would actually CARE for it and actually make GOOD games. Like sony or nintendo.

With sony:
- You could expect classic spyro to return.

With nintendo:
- A reboot, but really spyro. Not skylanders.

Uh, wat? Cares less than what?

...than the other games they produce? Well, I don't think so, I'm pretty sure they care about Skylanders as a whole, just not about Spyro as a character now that he's part of Skylanders.

Flapjacks, making irrelevant posts like that is much worse than topic bumping. Please refrain from member-moderating.

Welcome to the forums, Sparkifyed! I haven't heard of those games, but yeah, remakes seem to be pretty common these days, so in that way, at least, a remake wouldn't be too far out of the question. I would guess the reason they're not doing it would be either something to do with the licensing of the original source (I really have no idea how this works, though tongue) or that the original trilogy simply doesn't fit in with the current direction the IP is taking.

I didn't mean it in an offensive way, I was just pointing it out. There's not much point to resurrect an old topic unless you really have something important to add or question.

Re: Spyro 1, 2 and 3 remakes (and why they won

No, there's still no reason to point it out. All you did was derail the topic as your post had no relevance at all to its subject. Furthermore, I don't enforce the bumping rule anymore because of how inactive most of the sections of this forum are. Please also note that it's also considered rude for members to try to act like moderators and, as I said, refrain from doing so in the future.

If you have anything else to say about this, you can PM me or talk to me on Spyrochat, but we should leave this topic alone now so it can get back on track. Any further posts attempting to argue with me about the rules will be moved to trash.

What? lol

No, they can care less. This is evident by killing spyro for Skylanders, and even using his name just as a selling point for the first game.

Re: Spyro 1, 2 and 3 remakes (and why they won

I think what you mean is they "couldn't care less," not "can care less." tongue

He is right, though; Skylanders is Spyro now, and Activision obviously does care about the franchise a lot because of how successful it is for them. What you're saying is that they don't care about the last iteration of Spyro, TLoS, which is true. Why? Not enough people cared about that series for it to be profitable.

Re: Spyro 1, 2 and 3 remakes (and why they won

Even if it's highly unlikely (if it's even possibly to begin with), I would love to see a classic trilogy remake. Although I can imagine there will be small changes for nitpicking, if it were able to copy enough stuff over with a completely refreshed look I'd like to see that. We'd also get a good shot at seeing a few small bits of added content. Plus it'll bring in some of the newer generation to the older spyro, even if the remakes do something completely wrong we'd probably see some attention get redirected to the PS1 versions. It couldn't really go wrong in the end, as we're not losing anything. If you're 100% purist, or the remakes just fail there is always the PS1 games out there. If it works, hey we get a burst of attention and hype and more reason to enjoy spyro all over again with a new coat of paint.
