What do you hate and what do you like about the Skylanders franchise?

Just thought why not ask this question if you can't come up with a reason why you like Skylanders non-fans that's cool.

I'll start Why I like the series is because it's fun, offers new gameplay elements, and new adventures!

Why I hate it, sometimes repetitive, yearly release, can't explore every area with every Skylander, Giant, and soon to be Swap Force Skylander! Only ones of the right element though this is not really to bad!

I predict this thread is going to get a lot of responses about how Activision "killed Spyro" and how they're "greedy" for making the toys and how Spyro is "ugly" now. Fans of Skylanders often complain about these complaints (lol) having nothing to do with the series and say it should be judged on its own merits. While I've never played the series, I tend to mostly agree that the complaining is kind of silly and feel that most of these types of criticisms have less to do with the quality of the series itself and more to do with an emotional attachment to what people believe the brand of "Spyro" should be. I mean, if you don't like the games, just don't play them, right? There probably wouldn't have been any more Legend of Spyro games anyway. Most of us around here are veterans of this kind of argument and should be grown up enough that we have other interests and can move past the need to constantly hate on a children's video game series.

However, the typical "hater" complaints can be somewhat rooted in legitimate complaints that I can personally relate to a bit, having played and rather disliked the reboot that was the Legend series. When people say Activision "killed Spyro," what they mean is that they dislike the change in the series and miss the old series, even if the language is a bit melodramatic for something like a video game series. I also see their point when they mention Activision being "greedy," even if I wouldn't word it in that way. I too dislike the idea of having to spend a lot of extra money just to unlock certain parts of the game, even though Activision does have every right to make the toys, and some people, in fact, enjoy the collecting aspect. And as for Spyro being ugly, well... he kind of is, as are many of the other characters, and who wants to play a game that they think looks ugly?

TL;DR because this got longer than I intended: Never played Skylanders, mostly indifferent on it, and even though the haters get pretty annoying and repetitive at times, I sort of see their point.

Hate:
1. This is not spyro
2. Cant jump
3. Poorly designed worlds
4. Toys are required to play
5. Looks like the smacked spyro in the face with a frying pan until he looked pure retarded
6. terribly annoying music
7. Very bad voice acting
8. Overpriced figures
9. Portal has no built in battery
10. Basically used the spyro name as a selling point. They pretended the first game was spyro, but it had nothing to do with him, and later games dont even have his name in it to begin with.

I think I forgot to say what I like about it, so... I like that it's actually a platformer and not repetitive hack-and-slash like previous games (again, haven't actually played it, just going off what I've heard). They were going to do some violent, "mature" thing, but they realized that wouldn't really be Spyro and came up with the bright and colorful Skylanders world instead.

I like how it's not as spooky and scary as the legend series. I actually enjoy it and stuff..... But I don't like how the toys are expensive. Luckily I got all the ones I want! wink

Disslike:-Spyro and in all manner of speaking all the skylanders look ugly, the whole "YOU NEED THIS TOY TO PLAY" bull crap.

Personally I believe that Activision should just give up on Spyro and, if not return the rights to Insomniac than at least put it on the shelf until someone from Activision that has a soul can see what made the originals so good but until that happens I do and never will like the new Spyro series, classic series forever.

I know, I'm posting on an old(ish) topic, but Skylanders isn't all that bad.

Pros:

1) I think the whole idea of the real-life figures "coming to life" on the screen is an interesting idea.
2) Skystones is fun xD
3) The worlds are vibrant and colorful.
4) George Takei voiced the Arkeyan Conquertron in Skylanders Giants.

Cons:

1) The real-life figures are a way to throw your money down the drain. And the drain leads to Activision.
2) There's hardly any thought involved figuring out a route to get to the end of a level.
3) Button-mashing mania.

I might add more later.

Pros: cool figures, cool level design, fresh gameplay, etc.
Cons: Still no new Spyro game.

Likes: Figures (I like collecting.), the comedy, the actors in it, the improvement in gameplay through out the series, some of the ideas, the coupons that can use, fluffy cute and silly animals, the art, reusable figures, and occasional sales.

Dislikes: Certain variants, buying multiple portals (but it's for a good reason. So it's reasonable.), Cynder's design (Rule 1 to female dragons, dragons don't have boobs.), Beenox ("They developed the Wii version of Swap Force, with somewhat bad quality.), The rise in prices for adventure packs and triples (from 20 dollars to 25 dollars e.e), Separate Skylanders in mobile and console starter packs of the game, Release dates, and the scalpers.

Dislikes:
- Cartoony (As I guess so. But that's pretty much personal.)
- Ugly Design
- Too much weird fighting
- No interesting storyline
- Too expensive
- Toys must match each game, so if you don't have the toys to the next game, you must buy it.
- No Sparx
- Buy toys to enjoy more of the game
- Worst voice acting ever
- Too much comedy and laughing
- Humans
- Kaos. (what the hell? is he supposed to be the villain?)

It's not for everyone I find it hilarious and just like Spyro's catchphrase it gets me All Fired up. As I watch my heroes The Skylanders protect Skylands and her people and stop Kaos.
