Should Spyros main series be revived?
Well, should it?
I think so.
Skylanders and spyro are very different franchises, no matter what anyone at darkspyro says.
Basically, Spyro has been abandoned since 2008.

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
It would be nice to see a new Spyro game in the series, though Skylanders would still be developed anyways I would guess.
Basically are two different series, so they could develop the series side by side with no issue.

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
I thought for a while that that was what was going to happen. But now it's 2013 and there's still no word of any games with Spyro as the main character.
As for whether or not it should happen, that depends on what the game would be like. If it was another TLoS, that was already not Spyro anymore IMO so I wouldn't really care one way or another. If they made something like the classics or even like AHT or SL, I'd probably be interested.
I'm pretty surprised people are telling you that Skylanders isn't different from Spyro. While they do seem to share some common elements, they are very different games.

I personally think that eventually activision WILL get bored of Skylanders and attempt another reboot. Only time will tell. You can only rehash the same content with overpriced toys for so long, right?

Wow, I'm the only person who thinks they should not revisit it. Here's the way I see it. It's great as is, why not just leave it alone and let it be a classic?

Because doing that abandons the series.
People want crash revived right?
Well spyro should be too.
Skylander is NOT spyro no matter what anyone says.

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
only if they do it right. if they make another classic, it has to be a classic. nothing updated, nothing too crazy changed, the same "fun-without-being-too-sugary" tone, and, perhaps most importantly, with all due respect to the artist, it looks absolutely nothing like this*.
* don't get me wrong, it is a very pretty image, but it just doesn't feel like an "original" Spyro game.

This is a good point. It would be way too easy for a reboot to be done completely wrong.

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
That's like remaking Casablanca! You can't do that. I agree with KingLambda. Leave it in it's classic 90's and early 2000's glory! Besides, with Skylanders and the Legend Series, most kids today who play those will have no clue of how Spyro started and how different he was compared to the new spyros [to be honest I wouldn't shed a tear if the Skylanders spyro disappeared] But that wouldn't be a good move. The kids might be too familiar with the new spyro adventures, not like the old ones like Ripto's Rage. Leave them in their glory, that's why they're a relic! It'd be like rebooting the classic Crash Bandicoot games.

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
that's what I'm saying. leave them to their own glory. Because too much of something good is a waste, if you over do it, the classics will die!

People most of the time can't remake anything correctly. Look at some rebooted movies and shows It all gets Hollywooded, either doesn't follow the story or there's more love than there is a story or plot [Like every other remake] Continuing the Legend Series seems more practical than rebooting the classics, but I think with Skylanders it wouldnt be possible, It'd be confusing with 2 Spyro Series running <--- Another reason why a reboot would be bad! People would get way too confused

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
I think they should leave the classics as it is. Why mess with already good games? On the other hand they should port the old games to newer consoles.

I think so, yes.
It would be great to see a new Spyro series come out.
I like Skylanders, sure, but I don't see it as a Spyro game, and I would love for him to get his very own game series again....
Oh well.

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
An update like what Square Enix just did to Final Fantasy X and X-2 which is just update the Graphics/Sound to be playable on newer generations of console but left everything else alone.

Have you been following the TLoS series at ALL?!?!?! The main character, Malefor, almost destroyed the world! On top of that, he can see with very keen vision, he can craft chains that are IMPOSSIBLE to get out of, he can make anyone evil, and...he just has so much power, okay?!!? I don't think there could be a bigger threat than Malefor, not unless the story continues so that it's at least 1000 years later and someone's trying to free a now stronger Malefor from his prison. It's one of my ideas of Spyro Enchanted.

Re: Should Spyros main series be revived?
They kind of built him up to be the ultimate evil, didn't they? I've kind of been wondering what else people think could be done with the Legend series after that.

For those who got confused, Stormy meant to say that she doesn't know who could possibly be a new TLoS villain that would be a bigger threat than Malefor, and it's because DotD had an ultimate ending.
Though, the other Spyro series didn't get such an epic ending. I also end up seeing LOADS of pictures with TLoS Spyro with Ember, TLoS Spyro with Flame, Cynder with Ember, Cynder with Flame, etc., meaning that people would BEG for a Spyro game that features Spyro, Cynder, Ember, and Flame. I actually want to do that, but it would mean to give a bigger focus on classic Spyro than TLoS Spyro, since Ember and Flame were introduced as classic Spyro characters. If they're reintroduced as TLoS characters, many people would be upset, for the reason that the most hardcore Spyro fans end up being the ones that played the *bleep* out of the oldest ones. I gotta say, though, a flashback-style game would leave too many people complaining that it's ruined and crap. Do you honestly want Spyro to become the dragon version of Sonic?
Speaking of which, since CYNDER would be in the new game, she would need to be brought in as a TLoS character. Somehow, this would mean that Malefor should come back and that the whole "purple dragons are rare" thing should come back, too. What's even more is that people are used to seeing Cynder with TLoS Spyro, so TLoS Spyro would eventually need to return, too. If we're lucky enough to see a new series, though, then TLoS Spyro probably doesn't have to be reintroduced in the first game, unless he needs to be shown for the sake of important story plots.
Since Spyro was used to kickstart Skylanders, a Skylanders character would need to be used to kickstart a new Spyro game, too, but the character would also need to be connected to Spyro in a certain way. I already told you my game theory in another topic, but, really, I don't know if another classic-style game is good enough, anymore.

Thought it was pretty obvious what I meant; looked back and realized I'd made a typo. Fixed.
And yeah, Spyro kind of went down the Sonic route a long time ago if you ask me....
By the way, Locoguy107, we have a swear word filter on this forum, so please just type out the whole word so it can be censored. Obscuring part of the word with punctuation (or otherwise bypassing the word filter) is actually against the forum rules. Thanks!
