Some features you might not have known about...

I thought it might be a good idea to let you all know about some potentially helpful features that the new forum has. And I was bored and wanted to make a new announcement. tongue

BBCode Shortcuts:
The help page lists some bbcode shortcuts. For example,

[forum=1]Spyro the Dragon[/forum]

produces Spyro the Dragon, and

[user]10[/user]

becomes https://www.spyroforum.com/profile.php?id=10. Check out the help page for other markup you might not have known about.

Email Subscriptions:
You can subscribe to topics so you know immediately (or whenever you check your email) when people reply to them. This can be useful so you don't forget that a topic you made (or Spyroforum itself D:) exists. In the subscription options in your profile (under Privacy), you can check whether or not you want the full text of new posts to be emailed to you for topics to which you are subscribed, and you can set the forum to automatically subscribe you to every topic you make a post. If you just want to subscribe to a few topics, you can click the "Subscribe to this topic" link at the bottom of thread you'd like to subscribe to.

Private Messaging Emails:
Also in the privacy section of your profile are PM options. You can check whether or not you want to receive emails when you get new messages, and whether or not you want the email to include the full text of messages you receive. You can also disable private messages altogether, but I wouldn't recommend that.

I suppose while I'm here I might as well make a plug for Spyrochat and SpyroPedia. Spyrochat is a group chat (IRC) where all the cool people hang out. (:P) SpyroPedia is our wiki, which could really use your help (with edits, not donations).

I know for a fact (because Feedly told me so) that I am the only subscriber to the RSS feed, so I can vouch for that! Just copy the url of the "Atom topic feed" link at the bottom of the page and paste it into your favorite RSS reader.

Those ones that I just mentioned actually came installed with FluxBB. But if you want to add your own custom ones, there's a parser.php file that you have to edit. You will need to know regular expressions.
