I mean, it's fine with Kaos in Skylanders, but in a SPYRO GAME!?!?! That just doesn't make any sense anymore. We moved FAR from that direction, having to ditch humans to focus on all other animals. Who wants that in a new Spyro game these days?!

Yeah, humans in a Spyro game would just be weird. They seemed so out of place in ETD.

they were in Spyro: Orange, too.

you know, human-like creatures (like fairies for example) are one thing, but just having flat-out humans in Spyro games just doesn't work.

That farm level, whatever it was called. I remember because the facial animations were way too exaggerated and looked creepy.

lol, oh yeah. that's a very good point for this thread, too. humans in Spyro games just doesn't seem to work well.

the humans in Spyro Orange that i remember were creepy, you'd flame them (they were enemies), and they'd make this really realistic yell, like you were actually hurting them or something. it was really off-putting.

EDIT: wait, there were those grenade guys in Twilight Harbor! those were okay! ... if not a little out of place, though.

But yeah, flaming those guys in Spyro Orange always made me really uncomfortable.

i just looked them up. apparently you're right, they are gnorcs, they just ... look a lot like humans, for some reason.

hm, there were the humans in Stone Hill and Toasty.

Those are wizards, though, they make sense in a fantasy/medieval universe such as that, and they're mostly covered up.

actually those were just shepherds. those guys didn't use magic like the ones in Magic Crafters. still mostly covered up though, true.

Then there are the balloonists, and the enemies in Gnorc Cove. They might not be human, but do look a lot like it, and either way, they still work, because their faces are hidden behind scarves. Oh, and the cavemen in Skelos Badlands and Crystal Glacier.

The farmers in ETD probably originated from those in YotD. But these, like the cavemen were more like silly little creatures, rather than the gross things we got in ETD.

It seems to me humans still work in Spyro games when they are disguised or presented in a way that doesn't scream out "human".

I guess I never noticed the number of humans in the original Spyro trilogy. So I suppose it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing as long as it fits into the overall theme of the world/level

I was always under the impression that the Balloonists were kind of like undercover resistance gnorcs that rebelled from Gnasty or something, haha. But they are pretty mysterious; it's entirely possible they could be human.

Handel and Greta, the explorer guy from Mystic Marsh and the mayor from that one speedway were all humans. It's pretty strange, I have to admit. But then I look at the movie Treasure Planet and assume that it's some sort of futuristic universe.

Handel and Greta didn't feel out of place in those games, actually, but is the "futuristic universe" a reference to the Spyro games or to the movie?

Went on a rant about humans actually for Spyro fanfictions and their cliches....

Let me direct quote it:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I swear to god if I see anothre story where a human comes through some magical star gate and lands in the dragon world as a dragon I'm going to start flipping tables. More often than not, this is just the writer self-inserting. More often than not, it is not done well. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, THEY ARE THE HERO OF THE NETHERLANDS OR WHATEVER.

Seriously, don't do it. If you can't think of anything in a gigantic world given to you and must add in humans...ugh

If my series ever becomes a thing and people start doing this I will scream.

TL;DR edition; you have run out of idea when you bring in humans. No exception.

Still... Just imagine if they got Spyro into the quality of facial detail and such of today's games, even if they (For those of you who know about the Final Fantasy 10 and 10.2 Remaster) got it into the graphics stage of the newer Final Fantasy games for example. It would be pretty different than before.
