Suggestion- Images

Hello, I have an idea for you, I think it would help the site.
As I spend my time in Quotev, when you put your mouse (NOT CLICK) On the link for a picture, It appears in a box.
So, Instead of waiting to send a big picture Plus the img code, I think this way would be more easier.
However, thanks for looking at this, and I hope this will be put into good use. smile

Re: Suggestion- Images

I would rather the images stay as they are. The main, non-technical reason for that is because it would be confusing - people post links for more than just images, and it would be a little inconvenient to have to either look carefully at every link to determine whether or not it's an image, or just hover over every link. If the image is just right there, you don't even have to do anything.

I'm not sure, but I think you're also suggesting that image load times would be faster if this was implemented. They wouldn't - you would have to wait just as long when you hover over the image for it to load as you normally would.

This might improve page load times over all if people were posting lots of large images all the time, but it's not really that common. Same principle as the Youtube Fancybox suggestion from a while back. Every little script and customization added slows the site down just a little bit more, which is why I'm trying not to add too many.

The nice thing about forums is that they're not a tiny, limited comment section on some article - the comments themselves are the focus of forums. We don't need to eliminate any formatting from them.

Re: Suggestion- Images

Plus interactive elements like this cause problems for Phone browsers with no HTML5 implemented.

Re: Suggestion- Images

This would be Javascript rather than HTML5, but yeah, I can definitely see it causing problems with mobile browsers since you can't really "hover" without clicking. This site is already pretty mobile un-friendly as it is.
