interesting stuff in Spyro World Viewer
Spyro World Viewer is a program that lets you freely explore Spyro levels. while doing that, i found three interesting things. the first is in Sheila's Alp. behind each of the billy goats' houses, there's a black room, like the doors were going to open into something.
(warning for people with slow internet: the images in the spoilers are all 1600x900 res.)
the next thing is, in Winter Tundra, the hallway to Ripto's level is just a hallway that just kind of ends. but in the *cutscenes*, it's something different entirely. it's a shorter hallway with a hole at the end, like for Crush and Gulp.
part 1:
part 2:
the third thing is less interesting. oftentimes when portals aren't open yet, you can still access them if you can get underneath the portal. i found this in a cutscene area underneath the Dragon Shores portal:

the lava underneath Ripto's Arena (that appears later when you get the superflame powerup) is the same way, and that's always bugged me. you can't reach it early.
your post reminds me of a couple glitches, actually. cool dream!

Re: interesting stuff in Spyro World Viewer
I've taken hundreds of screenshots with the Spyro World Viewer of Spyro 1, 2, & 3 with the highest quality textures and in 1920x1080 resolution.
You can download the World Viewer for yourself here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THkI6FJ2jDc
Enjoy.

Is there any reason why you can't view the character/object models in Spyro World Viewer? Yes I know the keyword is 'world' but I find it odd someone created a software to view Spyro level models only.

Because they are stored in different formats.
As for why the level models are easier to find it might be because their polygon count is significantly higher, thus it would be easier to find a pattern in the game data. They also refer to textures, something which most (however not all) other game models don't use but instead rely solely on vertex colours.
Anyway, nice finds and that's a fancy piece of software

Interesting - the worlds are actually much smaller than I imagined. And Insomniac seemed to cleverly conceal the fact that they used only a few textures per level. Spyro 3 has less repetition, judging from the top down view.
I'm a secret duck who lives in the glitchy but nice Honey Marshes. My day to day job is to spy on the blue guys so they won't get up to much mischief.
