Re: What if this game was on the N64?
anyway, if the game was for N64 and not PS1, it would have changed everything. 'cause Spyro was the first reason I got a playstation in he first place. But if it was on the N64 'too', then it wouldn't have changed anything. it would have more popularity, thats for sure...

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
The cycle would eventually land spyro in a crappy Wii game where the detail of the characters in the game leaves something to be desired, as if we're so stupid to not realize that Wii graphics are horrible, since we were dumb enough to own a Wii in the first place.
Not all games on the Wii have terrible graphics.

Skylanders is already beginning to sound like that, but i'm not gonna jump to conclusions.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
Yeah, I like Sony, etc. But personally, I like Nintendo the best.
Just saying. I have plenty of reasons to back myself up, but I don't feel like typing it all, just throwing that out there. I think people just like to turn Nintendo in a... stereo type of some sort?

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
I must agree that graphics are not everything but if Nintendo did get the license to spyro at least it might have been safe from falling into the hands of activision and staying a good or at least decent franchise and also according to some people I know activision is trying to make every one forget about the original trilogy like how Sony is trying to make us forget about the legend of dragoon or George trying to make us forget about the star wars Christmas movie which was a discrase and a living hell that will never be seen again

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
Problem is, it may not of been possible.
The original spyro trilogy used an advanced type of engine and high quality sounds, music and voices.
It was perfect for PSX due to the PSX using 700MB CD-R disks, but sadly, the N64 used 60MB Carts. Sure, some BIG games got ported. Resident Evil 2 which in total is 1GB with both disks somehow was ported to 64 WITH ADDED FEATURES. But this game was not nearly as advanced as the engine and contents of Spyro 1-3.
So in otherwords, that outdated N64 could of never ran this game.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
Fun fact: The Playstation was originally going to be a cd addon for the Super Nintendo, but Nintendo rejected the idea. What if they hadn't? Insomniac would've likely went to Nintendo, as the only other option was the Sega Saturn (ew.) If Nintendo hadn't made what in my opinion was a slip-up, as I see it, since Sony is now a competitor with Nintendo, we would've had exactly what this thread is about.
I'm not sorry if I offended you.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
I'm choosing to respond negatively, so prepare yourself.
Every Nintendo title that had superb popularity usually got cycled in what I call the nintendo neverending land. If year of the dragon was for 64, it would have been rereleased as a "new" game on DS as Super Year of the Dragon. The cycle would eventually land spyro in a crappy Wii game where the detail of the characters in the game leaves something to be desired, as if we're so stupid to not realize that Wii graphics are horrible, since we were dumb enough to own a Wii in the first place.
Of course, the crappy Wii game would only be played seldomly, as just dance 2, mario galaxy 2 and the new zelda game that comes out this next christmas will be the games that are always played. Just remember to be in bed by 9:00pm on Sunday, because you have school the next day.
Thank God for SCEA. At the time, anyways...
I can kinda see were it goes. Its sorta like Yoshi's Island on SNES, that was fun. But with the new releases, it gets reharsed in some way
I think playstation should stay playstation and nintendo stay nintendo ^^

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
If the original trilogy was on n64, we would have gotten HD remakes by now. Sony is pretty much the reason we don't.
However, a better question would be if universal didn't have hold of Spyro in the first place, we would still have GOOD Spyro games coming out. And Spyro 3 would have been finished.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
Well, not really HD Remakes as Nintendo are a bit behind in the console technology market and their consoles cannot render full 1080p. But saying that the PS4 and the Xbone can "Render" 1080p but just not very smoothly at all. Then comes PC! XD

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
There was a tiny area in the game that they removed access to and forgot about because they ran out of time or something like that. You can see it in this thread. I don't agree that that makes the game unfinished, but I think that's what Attackfrog277 means.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
there are also other minor things like the pathway in Fireworks Factory and the yellow "hallway" outside of that room at the beginning of Midday Gardens, and that island in Midnight Mountain, there are also unused rooms in the billygoats' houses in Sheila's Alp.
those are minor things though and i *would* consider YOTD generally a finished game. they forgot to remove the *extra* things, but they did make a complete game.

There's also a whole list of things here (Revisional Differences): http://tcrf.net/Spyro:_Year_of_the_Dragon that had to be changed for the Greatest Hits version.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
I think it's possible, my only concern would be the music quality or whether or not they can get all the music on the cartridge. The voice clips as well might be an issue. I'm not a tech guy, so this is all just assumptions.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
I sort of wish he was on the N64, he would've gotten remakes by now. However selling him directly to Sony rather than Activision would've still gotten us good new Spyro games.

Re: What if this game was on the N64?
Lol. N64 wouldn't even have been able to handle the music or droves of polygons. Insomniac stated that in their making of Spyro interview.
