Re: Do you think real Spyro will ever come back?
No! please! Have mercy!
I know it may sound horrible, but does it ever make sense to downgrade a character? I mean, I'd love to see more Spyro 3D platforming, but Actvision won't give a *bleep* about it. Since classic Spyro is the most respected Spyro, and since the TLoS action and storytelling was actually well respected, this can be a perfect excuse. Trust me, I didn't like this idea at first either, but since classic Spyro is thought to be more of a platforming character than an action and storytelling character, there will need to be a way to combine the classic series with the TLoS series.

Was the TLoS action and storytelling well-respected, though? By anyone outside this fandom, at least? The reviews for the LoS games were mixed at best.

Oh, crap, I was limiting the respect to just the Spyro fans.
Well, IGN gave DotD a 7.5, so it's probable that some people found TLoS okay.
Well, actually, I just remembered this one guy who gave a basic list on what he liked out of the Spyro series:
He only says he didn't like the changes made to some of the characters, meaning that he probably liked everything else. It sounds biased, but that's just my guess.

Re: Do you think real Spyro will ever come back?
Well, it is biased, because that's just one fan and one review. And actually, 7.5 is considered mediocre for video game reviews.
From what I've seen, you can ask most random people what they think of Spyro, and they'll either just tell you about the original games or tell you that every game after the Insomniac trilogy sucked. Pretty much no one outside the fandom cares about LoS, which is probably why there was another reboot in the first place.

Yeah, sorry about that. It's just that I see fan art for TLoS stream into deviantART groups more than I do for fan art for classic Spyro. It's lead me to believe that people respect the series. I know it's not as respected as the classic Spyro games, but some people find it okay. I guess that it's just too little, though...
Have you ever thought that a fusion revival can make TLoS more respected than ever before?

Re: Do you think real Spyro will ever come back?
I don't think that's really how it works. Even if a fusion game somehow got made and was somehow good, it wouldn't retroactively improve the Legend of Spyro games, so I don't think people's opinions of them would change much.

Game review scores, especially ones from IGN are way off. As far as I'm concerned, a 5/10 should be average. The bare minimum that your game needs to be considered worth playing. To IGN, a 7.5 rating basically says "do not buy."
I'm not sorry if I offended you.

I hate that about game reviews. A game needs to be 8.9 or higher to not be considered a bad game these days.

I was simply questioning why LoS is the one and only way for Spyro games to mature and elaborate. Why does Spyro have to be all melodramatic and emo to be mature, why can't the characters(particular Spyro himself) be more like Ratchet, Jak, Sonic or Drake from Uncharted, jokey but has his head out of the clouds. LoS was more dramatic and serious than most M-rated games(which is why most gamers didn't care for it) and took itself too seriously to the point of embarrassment(think, Twilight). Skylanders balanced things out a bit more which I like.

I agree, though their rating system doesn't bother me directly since they usually give my favourite games 9/10's anyway, Spyro 1-3 included. But i can see why it poses a huge problem.

The series was aimed to take place in the medieval times. The developers had the philosophy in which the era was one of the most serious ones, which is why it wasn't humorous.
And I was talking about evolving classic Spyro humor. Make it a little more intense, but in a way that it's kept to E10+. Classic Spyro will come back with a new set of humor, but it won't be the "stuck in the 90s" humor. I find most of the Spyro jokes outdated. The only one I found still funny was the "Aim high in life, but watch out for flying boxes" joke from Spyro 1.
We can make a scene in which Spyro's lost and meets someone who he doesn't trust. To get help, Spyro throws a fireball into the sky, but the other person, dragon rather, he meets tells him not to do that. He keeps on doing it anyway, even when other dragon says, "Spyro, stop that this instant!" When he does stop, he'll smile sarcastically, smirk, and say, "Sorry, what were you saying?"
It may not be much, but if you think about how he can be a child-friendly USA "ghetto" person in dragon form, his personality could be perfect.

I remember IGN slagging of the Atelier series and there critique made little sense.
I mean never played the series myself but one comment was "It looks like it came from a PS2." I don't know what PS2 games hey played but hell, they must of looked good
But one of my old friends took IGN's word as gospel he'd look up games I was playing and send me there review like "LOOK THEY SAID IT IS S*** WHY ARE YOU ON IT!!!!!!!11111" and I just kept telling him over and over and OVER AND OVER! that I could not give two s*** what a website says, If I like a game it is because I like it!
(Note this friend played Nothing but CoD ALL the time might I add, like no joke, he playing nothing else ever!! xD)
EDIT: I remember as well when on Game Trailers people went INSANE that Uncharted 2 got a 9.2. like it was the lowest score ever given to a game! IT'S 9.2 THAT IS A F***ING AMAZING SCORE!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon 'real' spyro is the oringinal, riptos rage, year of the dragon, enter the dragonfly and a heros tale. LoS is NOT real and nether is skylanders.
real spyro checklist:

Re: Do you think real Spyro will ever come back?
Thankfully, with the release from Ted Price saying that they would be open to it, it may be possible, just *bleep* Activision is in the way...
I'm trying to start some Spyro Projects, check my guestbook for details, please throw some ideas to me so I can do as best as I can for the fandom. ^^

Re: Do you think real Spyro will ever come back?
does the direction of a video game series really bother you that much that you have to make this many posts about it, with completely sincere anger every single time, and call people names?
i don't even care that you make the posts themselves, i'm seriously concerned about the content of the posts, that isn't healthy, mentally or physically. do other things bother you this much? even if not, you get really riled up about this issue a lot, that's not good.

You should have never answered, trash hole.
No, you should have never answered with your useless complaining and personal insults.

Re: Do you think real Spyro will ever come back?
LocoGuy, I usually don't like to stick my nose into things like this, but I feel like I can relate, and I have some sincere advice. I did some stupid things on this forum a very long time ago (like, seven years ago) around the time when the Legend of Spyro trilogy made its debut. I couldn't stand how they redesigned him. It wasn't Spyro to me, so I let my anger over the situation get the best of me. But now, looking back at some of the posts I made, I'm embarrassed of them. I realized that I was so immature. And now, when Skylanders came out, I thought it looked stupid as well, but I just chose not to buy it and not to partake in Skylanders because I didn't want to. But what I do choose to do is enjoy the classics. I've played those games so much that I had to buy a new copy of Spyro the Dragon off of ebay because it was worn out, and now, Ripto's Rage is waning too. Instead of wasting my energy on bashing the rebooted versions of Spyro, I now just use that energy to thoroughly enjoy the first three. I play them when I feel stressed and even listen to the music when I'm doing homework or cleaning. I mean, if the old Spyro is what you like, then just like it! Dwelling on Skylanders will not make you feel better, I promise.
Edit: Woops. I didn't realize he had been banned. Well, perhaps he will read this when/if he returns.
