Activision's original plan

So...Recently I have read something that caught my interest. Apparently Activisions original plan, aka Spyro's Kingdom, Was meant to be this super edgy M rated blood and gore game with humans. Now if this was true. I think even the people who dislike Skylanders can agree that that would have been a terrible idea. Cause the last thing the gaming world needs is another Shadow the Hedgehog. >.>

Re: Activision's original plan

Agreed. I didn't care too much for Skylanders myself. But that would've been even worse.

Re: Activision's original plan

Mmmm I would love to see a dark, bloody, gritty game. But still will humour. XD

Re: Activision's original plan

As long as humor was involved I think I would have been fine with it wink. Of course, it depends upon how good it was, but that goes without saying.

Yes, the idea of Humans in the game is pretty good.

Thank God they didn't make an M-Rated game, Spyro scares me already...

Re: Activision's original plan

Spyro with fun and calm gameplay is how it should be. A mature one that just gives me nightmares thinking about it.

Re: Activision's original plan

dude, i still have the demo of that on my computer. it looks like it could have been really fun actually, it was supposed to be an MMORPG, but it's only one (of four, if i'm not mistaken) planned areas, and overall it would have just needed work yet. it's cool for a small demo, though.

Re: Activision's original plan

That does look coo. Could have used some more work but cool. But I'm glad they went through with Skylanders.

Re: Activision's original plan

While this might not have exactly been a Spyro game, I think it makes at least a little sense to have "Spyro" in the title since it still takes place in the same universe as TLoS (I think?).

I at least wouldn't object to it calling it that any more than I would object to calling TLoS or Skylanders a Spyro game. I've been saying from the beginning that TLoS should've just come up with a new dragon character rather than rebooting the Spyro franchise, though, which was always a little controversial back when TLoS was more popular around here. Doesn't really matter all that much what it's labeled as, in any case.

I do agree that the concept of Spyro's Kingdom would've been better off as a completely new IP, though. To be honest, if it had actually been released without the "Spyro" label, I probably would have been much more excited to give it a try. New IP = no preconceived notions about what that IP should be = no disappointment when it doesn't live up to previously set expectations.

Re: Activision's original plan

Even the first game was a bit violent. But nah, at least Skylanders is better than nothing, right?

Re: Activision's original plan

Yup. But to be fair. A dragon running around flaming and charging enemies. I don't see how that's as violent. As Spyro decaptating enemies or shooting things. *Shudders.* I see your point though. Now I gotta get that image outta my head.
