First, In a new beginning they were enemies. But in Eternal Night they were big friends.
They have the same age
They are two dragons survivors
Gaul used a strong word to Spyro when he came to rescue Cynder - it's "affiamento" in italian game, probably in English was harmony, I don't know sorry -
Spyro saved Cynder in more situations, Cynder saved Spyro when he was becoming a dark dragon

So I think that in the third game, finally they fall in love saving the dinasty of dragons, destroyed from monkeys
