Should I get this game?
I've never played ANY of the Legend of Spyro games, but I'm thinking about getting this one, is their anything I should know about before I play this? I don't care about story spoilers, I just want to know if this is worth the $20...Thanks...

Its not really worth $20 imo, 10 at max. (OR go my route which for legal sakes I will not mention)

Re: Should I get this game?
For $20, I would say go for it. It's very uncommon to find DotD for that cheap since it's rare for some reason. I found the game to be pretty frustrating, but you might like it. A lot of people do. And if you don't, you can always try to resell it. (I'm still hanging on to mine and might give it another try one day...)

Re: Should I get this game?
DOTD is very different from the first two TLOS games, it has a way more "epic" atmosphere than the moodier/darker one of the first two. it also feels more "open" compared to the first two.
all three games have a lot of combat, tons more than the classics, and are pretty linear, but DOTD isn't nearly as bad with that, the enemies are a LOT more varied and most of the levels are way more suited for exploring.
main problems are that "free flight" doesn't really live up to expectations considering the invisible walls, and some of the dialogue (especially Cynder's) is, shall we say, not up to standard. whether it's worth it depends on whether you'd be okay with not having true "free flight" as it was advertised. it's a fun game for what it is and i'd recommend it.
edit: since you've never played any of the TLOS games i should also point out this is a lot harder than the classic games, and even though it's comparatively less dark, the game still has a much more serious tone than the classics.

Yes, we all know Moneybags is selling bootleg versions, let's try to put that behind us...

Yeah, I'm getting this on XBLA so it's just $20 and it looks beautiful honestly. Maybe it's cause I'm a sucker for this type of style of art. I haven't played a new Spyro game since Hero's Tail and I'm in the mood to play one. I also checked and...yeesh this game IS expensive...why?!

Free-Flight is the biggest reason I'm getting this lol. The difficulty won't bother me. I watched the trailer and the thing I need to get used to is the more serious tone...and Hunter...is that Hunter?
Thanks for the advice everyone I'm still not sure yet, I rarely come across money so this is like a tough decision for me, it's either this, Nights Into Dreams HD, or Season Pass for Batman Arkham Origins...MY TINY WALLET!!!
Is the game long, and is there any sort of replay value?

Re: Should I get this game?
nine normal levels, and one final boss. which makes it sound like ETD, but with all the combat and all the different things they tend to have you doing (you'd be surprised how much you can accomplish in one giant field), the gameplay is definitely more involved than ETD could hope to be. also with the collectibles and elite enemies, that gives you something to do, too. i personally think this has tons of replay value, it's one of the only games i bother replaying anymore.

The only place I found frustrating was the "fight" with Leviathan in Warfang :I I've played it with my sister, and We were like "-We're dodging this way! -No, We're dodging this way!" and then we both got smacked in the ground xD
Never ask what I'd do for a klondike bar. No one wants to go down that road.

Not as hard as it was to play. That was probably the most frustrating part as far as we got. The catapult repairing was pretty annoying, too, though.

That was one of the most terribly-designed boss battles I've ever played. Co-op was actually restrictive too because you fail if you or your partner dies. I remember being so nervous that we would *bleep* up the quick time event at the end of the battle and have to go through the whole process again...
To address the topic: In my experience it's not worth picking up, but if you're desperate for Spyro, go for it. It's a pretty looking but overall lackluster video game from a design standpoint. A lot of people did enjoy it though, so maybe you would too.

Re: Should I get this game?
I saw "rare." Maybe I can help you guys on why this game I "rare." You know how Vivendi got sued for an epilepsy issue in Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly? I believe that was sometime after TEN's release, because it eventually triggered a warning message for all mothers in the world to not get the game for their kids. One day, I picked up a copy of DotD, and my mom said to put it back, since it'll cause a seizure. She then pointed to the orange oval that read "pressure sensitive," telling me that this is a warning for the to very likely cause me a seizure. That's not what it means, but the message must have subconsciously got to her from an employee. When also placing in how parents heard their kids saying that TEN was "too hard," and some other evidence I'd rather not mention, it makes sense that this game would sell like a box of blank movie films - the authentic ones - would sell nowadays.
If you want to get it, get an emulator.

Re: Should I get this game?
The Wii version lacks a lot of visual effect. If you have an xbox 360/ps3, I suggest you get one of those.
Personally, I think the game is amazing. Though TEN was slightly better I think...

Re: Should I get this game?
I haven't had the opportunity to play Dawn Of The Dragon, but I have played A New Beginning. But I found A New Beginning hard! But my mother's friend is letting me borrow her Dawn Of The Dragon, so I'll see what it's like then.
