Spyro Horizon (mobile)

I was thinking of making a spyro mobile game, except i don't know what app can i make it. It's probably a Spyro game based on a mix of Forza Horizon 2, Need for Speed Carbon, Midnight Club Los Angeles, Burnout Paradise, and Asphalt 8 Airborne. I don't have the computer, but i have an android tablet. All I need is the soundtrack, voice act, 3d models, textures, and the app that lets you publish it to Google Play.

I don't have the images to preview it just yet, but there will be.

Does anyone agree on this project?

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

Well, keep in mind you'll need considerable programming skill as well, or someone willing to help you out with that. You'll need to know Java to make Android apps.

Actually Stormy, he kind of needs to know either JavaScript, C#, or Boo instead. There's this program called Unity, and it's the easiest tool to use if you want to port a game to multiple systems. It's actually supposed to have very decent Android support. Sadly, the only Android Unity game I know of fondly is Geometry Dash. Unity is actually a 3D engine, but it also supports 2D editing. Oddly, you can't edit or make raw mesh models in that engine, though. You'd have to use a 3D modeling tool, like Maya or 3ds or something.

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

Unreal Engine 4 has decent support for making mobile games. Just need to set the controls up to use the touch screen instead of buttons and when you are ready to export it make sure you select the Mobile - Android/IOS so it exports it as the proper file type. (APK... etc)

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

Yeah, that too. And it can also be bluetooth controler compatible as well.

This project is gonna take a while because back then, i don't have a computer, now, i finally got one. It's a Windows 7 computer and one chalenge i faced was the password recovery. it's a used computer and the previous owner haven't used it in 2 years, and that's when he forgot the password. the screen on the computer has a few black marks, but it still runs like new. I have a computer technician that can work on it, so its probably takes much longer due to a process of password recovery.

Javascript is browser based, C# is a Microsoft developed language so therefore used primarily for Windows and Windows Phone apps, and Boo I have no answer for because I've never used it and don't necessary feel like looking up.

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

Wasn't going to bother responding to that, but yeah.

I've never even heard of Boo, but it doesn't look like it has anything to do with Android. I'm not familiar with how Unity works, never cared to learn anything about it, but "actually he needs to learn ____ instead" is not necessarily right because, yeah, the Android SDK is Java, and Unity isn't the only way to make a game.

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

I installed Unity on my tablet, but not the laptop. i just got because i'm trying to do my best to reset the unknown password that a previous owner of it forgot it the other day. Anyway, don't get confused on a new character to the series because this mobile game is referred to Need For Speed Carbon, which was a wingman feature, there are 3 types of wingman: Blockers (when activated, your wingman knocks out a rival crew member), Drafters (when activated, your wingman overtakes you in order to leave out a slipstream from behind the wingman just to make your car faster, one tip, 2 cars are faster than 1, just like nitrous), and Scouts (works automatically at any time when your wingman finds a nearby shortcut just to make it easier to overtake other rival crew members). There will be 2 blockers, 2 drafters, and 2 scouts. the new character is a blocker (yes, he's an ally to Spyro) and he just joined in.

Here's what the new character looks like (the one in the racing helmet)

Unity can use one of three scripting languages; JavaScript, Mono (which is a platform independent implementation of .NET which aims to also clone the C# syntax) and its own "Boo" script language.
As for Unity being the end-all game creation solution, I'm not too sure. You cannot edit its underlying source code and while true, it is a very efficient and portable game engine that can be extended through scripts, sometimes you end up having huge work-arounds for something that would have been a lot easier had you just been able to write the code yourself. Do keep in mind that a pre-made game engine limits you in that you must work within its confines and as such there might very well be a high learning curve because you have to find out lots of intricacies of the engine to actually make it do what you want at all times. I won't deny Unity is a pretty awesome suit of software though.

@spyrothepalmontcityracer: you should be aware that you will not be allowed to publish anything that uses media made by other people unless you get their explicit conscent to do so. I'm mainly mentioning this due to your posted music tracks but it holds true for still images, textures, models, sound effects, etc. too.

I did not know that, but even after looking into it it still converts it to Java to make it work natively in the Android platform. I for one would not trust something generating that much code for me.

That being said, Scaler's implication that you would use javascript, c#, or boo instead of Java is still false. Using the Android SDK to make a game is entirely possible.

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

@Ulfbjorn I can edit the music so it won't sound like explicit music, i use WavePad, it's a music editor that lets you edit an .mp3 file, you can easily convert an explicit song into a clean song.

for example: I an editing 'Hollywood Undead - Levitate' (edited version used in Shift 2 Unleashed), and i'm trying to do the same that EA does it. i usually split some sections and replace them with an instrumental version and mix it in with an echo like effect.

Uh... that's most definately illegal.

Electronic Arts must then have paid a license fee or otherwise come to an agreement with the owner of the intellectual property (in this case, the music) they used.

Not to rain on your parade but you probably want to rethink this. In the same way, you wouldn't be allowed to sell a game containing the intellectual property of Sierra (Spyro) or Turn 10 Studios (the Forza motorsports games). If you release it for free that would probably be a different matter, however the owners of any intellectual property used are in their full rights to serve you cease and desist letters or, failing that, sue you since you are making unauthorized use of their property.
That said, a Spyro fan game with all homemade models, textures, sounds and music, released for free as a pure fan game would probably be allowed to exist. You can't be 100% certain though; for example Squaresoft ordered the shutdown of a Chrono Trigger fan game a few years ago.

Wow what and exciting idea can you make Hunter one of the racers. I love racing games and I bet Hunter would be a great driver Spyro probably couldnt even hold onto a steering wheel LOL smile

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

Of course, if he'd would be in this game, he'd woupd be driving this...

Asphalt-8-Airborne-Dodge-Viper-SRT-10-ACR-X.jpg

This mobile game has a reference to Need For Speed Carbon because of 3 types of crew members, so, there's Blockers, Drafters and Scouts.
Blockers blocks other drivers from other rival crews
Drafters leaves out a slipstream area that only you would have to follow in order to increase speed, 2 cars are faster than 1, just like N2O
Scouts locates a shortcut that actually helps you out.

if i put Hunter in it, i would assign him to being a Scout, he would actually locate a shortcut.

and what'd you said that Spyro wouldn't handle the wheel, this game sets off at a realistic fictional urban city on present day (2015). That should be the time when Spyro gets used to the Wheel.

and there will be a new character on that game, if you played Need for Speed ProStreet, the protagonist you'd played as will be on this mobile game, but he won't be driving that ugly Nissan 240SX, actually, he would be driving the same BMW M3 GTR that was used on Need For Speed Most Wanted 2005.

Re: Spyro Horizon (mobile)

this above user was correct.

for the teaser trailer, this song will be used

[the teaser trailer starts off when Spyro was wandering around when he suddenly saw a Saleen S7 slowly customized and finally opens the driver side door, Spyro got in and he got used to driving a supercar, then Cynder showed up in the driver seat of a Nissan GTR R35 V-Spec, along with Hunter (Dodge Viper ACR) and Ryan Cooper (BMW M3 GTR from NFSMW2005) and then a wild blue Toyota Supra showed up (could be Cyril) spinning out]

Song info:
Artist: Hadouken!
Song: Mic Check (Camo & Krooked Remix)
Album: (Original appears on) For The Masses

I think Spyrogirl101 is right it takes months or years of work to make a game like your describing and it also takes a dedicated and skilled team also Spyro racing sounds rediculous and what the heck is ryan cooper doing in a spyro mobile game? This is just the opinion of an old man but i think you might be crazy mr. spyrothepalmontcityracer. also I bet Hunter wouldnt be caught dead in a dodge, give that cat a Bugatti Veyron.

Well you do not really have to have a team to make a project, just time and enthusiasm(And resources, dam I am bad at animating with skeleton meshes).
I made a small platform game on UE4. I wanted to use cynder as the player but I need the skeleton meshes and animations (As I requested in another thread :<   )
