How are the stories connected between the games?

I'm wondering because I found one of the games that wasn't the first one (I think it was Giants) for a pretty good price. Will I miss anything important in the story if I don't play it first? How story-driven are these games?

Well the games goes down in order: Spyro's Adventure, Giants, Swap Force, Trap Team, and currently Sky 5.

The Skylanders novels take place before Spyro's Adventure, while the comics take place after Trap Team.

Pretty sure that Stormy was asking if there is a specific story of interest that occurs from game to game. Is there a significant plot in the Skylanders games, or are the games just pick up and play?

Well, yeah, each game has a different story plot, and a different set of title Skylanders.

Re: How are the stories connected between the games?

No not really. Main villain Kaos tries to take over Skylands. Skylanders gotta stop him. New Skylanders backstory is introduced. So play away Stormy it ain't really story driven. You won't be missing much if this is your first game.
