(What I think are) Top 5 most hated orb challenges
I've been watching a lot of people play this, and I've gathered the top 5 most hated orb challenges.
#1: Fracture Hills- Break down the door (supercharge challenge.
I personally don't hate this one, mainly because I did it a lot as a younger kid and have made it easy on myself. I would always try to get the skill point "3 laps of supercharge" and it took forever, but once I got it, I kept trying to do it over and over again until I could run through the entire thing without failing.
#2: Scorch: Retrieve the flags
I didn't find this one particularly hard either, for the same reason. I'm an only child, so if I had trouble getting an orb, I would ask my mom to do it, until one day she told me I could do it myself. Yeah... I don't think I ever really LET her play spyro again.
#3: Metropolis: Ox Challenge (I forgot what it's called)
I hated this one. This one always took me hours upon hours to complete. I'm going to have to practice this one more, huh?
#4: Sunny Beach: Keep the turtles out of the cauldron 1 & 2.
I hated this one too. Never really able to keep them out. I always miss one...
And last, but not least:
#5: Skelos Badlands: Lava Lizards 1 & 2.
I didn't really mind this one. To help me, I drew a map of the area, marked which Lizards would go where when, memorized it, and it always seemed to help. But I've long lost that paper, and I forgot the order, so looks like I'll have to make it again.
Well, I didn't get this from anywhere but watching youtubers play this game and these seemed to be the most hated challenges among them all. Post the top 5 challenges you hate the most below!

Re: (What I think are) Top 5 most hated orb challenges
I remember the 2nd Lava Lizard challenge giving me a lot of trouble too. Other notable ones I can remember are the Agent Zero mission and of course, "TROUBLE WITH THE TROLLEY, EH?"
For me, Spyro 3 had a lot more challenges I always resented doing when I replayed the game.

the 2nd lava lizards thing was really bad for me.
it wasn't on the list, but the orb in Molten Crater where you have to fly around was really annoying, too.
THE ALCHEMIST.
i'm surprised it took three posts for him to come up.

The alchemist, the lava lizards, and, although I don't have any problem with it now, definitely the crystal challenge with hunter in Magma Cone.

Re: (What I think are) Top 5 most hated orb challenges
So far in my recent gameplay, in which I've just finished every land in Summer Forest 100%, the following orb challenges have given me grief staring with the least, more annoying than difficult and ending with the most difficult and frustrating:
*Hurricos - Factory Glide
This wasn't the worst by far, but those windmills and moving platforms were tricky and it's kind of a *bleep* that there isn't a whirlwind/save point once you get past the windmills. Next go, I'm gonna try this trick with the windmill button that I found via Google.
*Fractured Hills - Alchemist Escort
This one is more annoying than difficult. There isn't even any sense or logic to it, that weird long route isn't even necessary given that Hunter is right next door to where he starts. Most of the time my issue here was keeping myself from getting smashed, but I would have been able to squeak by that in a handful of goes at it had I not been confused for the longest time at the end by where he was going and so attacked the wrong earthshaper.
*Scorch - Retrieve the Flags
Again more annoying than difficult. It was not the easiest of challenges but was far from the most difficult. It was dodging the bombs that gave me trouble and mostly just the last one but it only took me a few tries.
*Sunny Beach - Turtle Soup II
The first round was fine once I understood how it worked. I finally did conquer it after several goes at it, but it was a *bleep*.
The trick is to take them one at a time, if you're keeping up they DO appear slow enough to. Start by meeting the first one coming from the top right about halfway from the pot and charge it into the pool, then flame the second one coming from the bottom left off to the right of the pot and charge it into the pool, same with the third coming from the same direction and etc. With speed and charge precision this will get it done.
*Aquaria Towers - Manta Ride II
It was the precision requirement that made this difficult for me. A lot of the time it failed me I wasn't that far off the mark, with a second to make a slight readjustment I could have made it through the *bleep* ring. There were even some moments where I wasn't off at all, it failed me based my grazing just a centimeter outside the ring with the manta ray's wing.
NOTE: The sixth tower in the baby seahorse rescue challenge was also difficult with all those levels of electricity, I ended up managing on my last life by just purely hauling *bleep*. hehe.
*Skelos Badlands - Lava Lizards II
Again the first round was fine once I got the hang of it but in the second, there is always that one that I can't get to on time because of distance issues, particularly the one in the middle that doesn't hatch until there are three others to tend to in the area to the left of it. I've found a way to manage that one but then it leaves another that is inaccessible in time.
Finally, I got it, though.
It's all about the knowing the hatch and destination pattern of each lizard and speed. I'm now able to see from the perspective of players who say it's not so bad once you figure that out. They're quite right. It only took me four or five goes once I did. It was only the last one that continued to be a challenge then.
Start with the first three that hatch in front of you; left (starting ledge), middle (second ledge), right (second ledge) IN THAT ORDER, make sure to get that one on the right BEFORE it rounds the first hut.
Then charge over to the left where three more will hatch at the same time. Take them out very quickly before they can part ways; middle, left and then right.
Go around the back of the hut to the right for the last one and continue straight from there on across the ledge to the backside of the furthest hut on the middle island (you can access this area by going back around the way you came but that takes too long, you CAN NOT be successful that way).
From there, continue straight ahead for that last one.
You'll have to charge to get to the last three.
*Fractured Hills - Free the Faun
This was more frustrating than anything especially because it can't be strategized, you just have to keep at it. That *bleep* supercharge track, just ugh!
I can't figure it out, but somehow the one in Robotica Farms was less frustrating to get the hang of even though it had a few really sharp turns (they are actually pretty easy to time once you understand how the track flows). I feel like it took me less time to complete than freeing the faun (within an hour),but then Fractured Hills has that second required use of the track to break that gem case which took me another several goes.
I'd googled the hell out of cheats trying to will one for the permanent superflame to exist.
*Magma Cone - Crystal Grab 2
Hunter is one fast son of a gun, true to the Cheetah's status as the world's fastest land animal, this one took me several nights to conquer (I've only been playing at night from 11pm to 2am when I retire to my bedroom since that's where my PS2 is set up).
The trick here is to keep the crystals from him by following him around and nabbing the ones he's going for. This DOES NOT by any means make it easier because not only is he fast but he'll zigzag quite a bit making it a challenge to keep up with him which had me wondering if he was actually trying to shake me off his *bleep*. Then a lot of the time even when I was practically humping him and the crystal was right on me he'd still end up with it. It was especially tricky when there would be two or three in one spot.
When Hunter is standing still waiting for an incoming crystal to come up is when it's easiest to make the steal because in this case Spyro's small size and being on all fours is an advantage. If you position Spyro directly over the opening its headed for it'll be delivered to him before it even reaches the surface let alone Hunter's height.

Re: (What I think are) Top 5 most hated orb challenges
The second Crystal Orb is the only orb that to this day still can cost me in a speedrun. There is a slight element of randomness which is a speedrunner's worst nightmare :V
