Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

Has anyone here heard about the Dragonfly Eggs? Well, if you connect your PocketStation to the Japanese version of Spyro the Dragon, you can find them in 30 levels. It's awesome.

I've started a series where I'm collecting them all. I'll link you guys/girls the first two parts. Who else knew about this? It seems like hardly anyone talked about them.

The only way to connect a PocketStation to an emulator is to use Xebra. Look at up and you'll see a complicated process on how to get it all working. Have fun and enjoy the videos! spyro

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

The camera reminds me a little of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle where it sorta locks itself almost without the free ability to change camera, or well it made it hard to do so. Although despite that i will say i think it did that job better. Wow it must take away that exploring feel in terms of being able to freely look around and just think "hmm whats over there" and stuff ^^.

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

The camera is really annoying. It just doesn't suit Spyro the Dragon. It's definitely one of the many reasons why the Spyro series never found success in Japan. The charge is as fast as the PAL/NTSC walk. That's just stupid. sorceress

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

Wow, I've never heard of this or the PocketStation before. So were the dragonfly eggs cut content from the game, or would this theoretically work with a Japanese PS1 and Pocketstation? It is strange that it wasn't included in other versions of the game.

Also, welcome to the forums since I haven't yet! I definitely recognize your name from Youtube and probably some other places on the internet.

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

Dragonfly eggs in STD? How come I've never heard of this before,  not even on the wiki?
P.s. Not sure if it's because I'm on mobile but your videos are not showing up at all. Not even sure what it looks like.

Edit: oh wait now they're working lol.

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

Thanks for the welcome! So basically, they exist entirely within the Japanese version of Spyro 1 thanks to the PocketStation device. That device activates them in-game. You collect them and then can raise them on the PocketStation. hunter

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

In case anyone was interested, I'll dump the rest of the Spyro 1 Dragonfly Eggs here. I also just started Spyro 2, so I'll link that as well!

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

Yeah. I've seen your videos on these eggs too. I wonder if there is any footage of the spin-off mini-game that these were meant to unlock. That would be cool tongue

The rest of the series:

On an unrelated note, why isn't there much discussion here anymore? Every time I check the site it's always just comments on SPAM threads and stuff. Not criticising, but I'm just curious.

Re: Japanese Version: Dragonfly Eggs

I'll check it when I get a chance looks good.

To awnser your question people are just focusing on other stuff now. Spyro's still popular around here but just not as much as before we still love him though.

We've just been "Spyro'd" out, you could say. Threads like this are really cool since they detail new things that most people haven't seen before, but almost every other topic has been discussed and beaten into the ground over time. Still love Spyro, of course

Also, a lot of people have been pretty busy with life, so it's just easier to just pop into General Discussion or Spam and say some quick words rather than create new thread I suppose. We just need some creative people to find some new discussion points. smile

Nice videos, btw. I still can't get over Spyro's jumping noises in the Japanese games.
