Spyro to appear in upcoming Skylanders tv show

Activision Blizzard recently revealed the existence of their new film and television studio called Activision Blizzard Studios, that will develop original content based on the company’s popular IPs. Their first production will be a CGI Skylanders tv series called Skylanders Academy, and ironically it is Spyro's very first appearance on a television series.

Spyro will be voiced by Justin Long for the tv series (known roles being Ask Me Anything, Jeepers Creepers, and Alpha and Omega).

Surprised it took this long. Skylanders seems like the perfect franchise for a cartoon show. And I've been seeing kids wearing t-shirts of it for a while now. tongue

New updates on series from tv writer, Eric Rogers' twitter page:

*Each episode will be 30 minutes, will even have story arcs
*The show will be a mixture of Gravity Falls and Futurama
*Show will air Fall 2016, a teaser of it will be released soon
*Cynder won't be seen until Season 2
*No network or channel is chosen yet
*The show is canon.

by "Each episode will be 30 minutes", i wonder if they mean each episode will fit in a half-hour block (22 minutes + commercials) or if they actually mean each episode will be 30 minutes.

also, i haven't seen much of Futurama, but i've always been under the impression it was meant for older audiences, like Family Guy. if i'm right on that, i'm not really sure how to feel about a Spyro TV series being compared to it.

Just like Spyro was used as a marketing stunt for Skylanders games (kinda scrubby as I see it) I fear it's the same for the show. He shows up, people get excited, then he magically disappears later on after he's done getting people's attention. Same goes for Cynder.

Also to mention, Eric Rogers said that Spyro WILL be the main star of the show. So there is no need for the "Spyro is tossed aside again" complaints or something like that.

The art style seems good actually. Also, thanks for the update. It sucks he still looks like a goblin but I'll check it out regardless. Any ETA on this or is it still early in development?
