The 2 Challenges That Almost Everyone Seems To Hate.
I don't understand why people think they're so difficult. They're really easy!
On my most recent playthrough, which was last year, I did the You're Doomed challenge without dying at all. All you need to do is retreat whenever your health goes below 50, and go in and out of rooms until a critter appears, and keep doing this until you get back up to 100 health.
I can also do the Tank Blast challenge without taking a single hit. I can do the first part without even entering the arena, and in the second part, I can hit 6 of the tanks before I have to enter the arena. I can do both parts of it without any of the other tanks doing anything at all. By doing this, it's nothing more than target practice. While this strategy is incredibly slow, if you're not very good and/or unlucky and/or being trolled by the AI, it could actually be quicker.

i didn't know there actually were challenges like this. the only ones i heard about were speedruns, and "fun runs" - where you have to charge through a certain area without stopping.

Re: The 2 Challenges That Almost Everyone Seems To Hate.
well, i'm surprised to hear people hate "You're Doomed" - now that i know what it is, i have to say i never had all that much of a problem with it. it was just sort of a standard challenge to me. the strategy you mentioned is something i do remember doing a lot in Fireworks Factory challenges, though.
as for the one in Haunted Tomb, i always dreaded that. it's interesting that you can do most of it without entering the arena, but i'm not sure how to pull it off.

Have you ever noticed how the vases don't completely protect the other tanks? This is why you can hit them from outside of the arena. In the second part of the challenge, 1 of the tanks can be hit even though it's invisible from certain angles when you're outside of the arena, including the angle that you can hit it from, and 4 of them can't be hit from outside of the arena because there is a limit on how far the cannonballs can travel; when the cannonballs reach this limit, they will explode as if they have hit an invisible barrier, and those tanks are beyond this limit, meaning that you have to finally enter the arena in order for your cannonballs to be able to reach them, and 2 of the tanks, including the one that's invisible from certain angles when you're outside of the arena, aren't protected at all. Be careful while doing this though, because you can still fall off the stage, and 2 of the tanks can still start moving if you're unlucky.

Just because it's easy for you doesn't mean it is for everyone.
The strategy you suggested here is efficient but NOT until you clear the first two rooms as the first critter is at the end of the second room and that took me 4 lives to manage though I was reimbursed by the every ten butterflies concept.
Admittingly it's been at least five years since I last played and now I feel like I could manage it again if I had to.

The strategy you suggested here is not possible for getting past the first two rooms as there is only one critter from what I've seen located at the end of the second room and I had a lot of trouble getting that far. After that point, however, this strategy did get me through it without losing any more lives than I did on the way there and, in fact, I even gained a few of them back from the every ten butterflies concept.
You just go back and forth until the critters respawn. Also, this is my 100th post on this forum!
