Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

Not suppose to happen..., managed to grab some freetime. I wanted to post something random here since I didn't want you guys to think I abandoned such progress.
I just recorded this to gif because it was funny since it looked cartoony while I was working on fixing the animations again.
tlu7zXW.gif
You also may have noticed some graphics may have changed a bit
e1GWxzU.gif

(posted while in class, I'm so bad.... I'm like trying to get like one line every time i get a chance (And yes, I'm back, dont know for how long i can keep this up tho))

What I learned recently, Interfaces are your friends, and animation transitions by code is better than doing it in the editor. More on that issue on my blog.

Currently sheep are indestructible again... yea. *bleep* those sheep. After fixing that issue I do plan on adding the first enemy.

Oooh, HOPE big_smile

Well, it's good to see you haven't given up on this smile I don't expect anything ambitious such as a massive update as I know this takes a considerable amount of effort to produce. You've done really well so far. Congrats big_smile

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

Im going to make more gif's up to a point where its possible to make a video for the people on youtube to see, I feel its better to do this way because i feel like I'm forcing people to wait for a decent amount of content to be posted on YT (mainly 3 new things like i have been doing it before). Then this one guy on YT still not liking it for some reason, but that's a different story.

Also heres a GIF of the whirlwind even though theres is an image

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

I have a few more things to add before creating another video and possibly and an actual demo of it uploaded in gamejolt. Possibly before the end of December, if not, then somewhere around January. I really want this one out there, hopefully the time I just given myself is enough.

Here the link to the game in gj: http://gamejolt.com/games/spyro-the-dra … lpha/84112

No real name for this game so I just left it at that.

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

Ok, so this game looks really good. In some ways it kinda looks like that Unity Super Mario 64 HD project (that got taken down) but its probably just because of Unity.
It also looks different in other areas, But I wish the Spyro had bigger eyes, kinda like how the original trilogy had it.

Oh, I really hope that's not the case for me to happen, I really liked that Mario 64 project but it probably got taken down since Nintendo still makes games with similar/same mechanics as well as ripped assets. Mines, well activition moved away from the old game and its mechanics and models (even though everything you see is from scratch) so I hope I'm okay and Insomniac sees us as good guys in some way. (And maybe buy back Spyro (IDK I'm just thinking to much about this lol))

No, No, No. I'm saying that the lighting, and flat green terriain, and the hills around the edge is what makes it similar, and that is probably because of Unity. I really don't want this project taken down.
I'm starting to get used to how Spyro looks. This project really has come so far, and I understand that no assest are ripped, which is what makes this so special. Continue on with your excellent work, this really is a pleasure to see more updates come from this game.

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

Man, this thing is looking amazing so far.

Spyro's eyes are still way too small, though. Something about it just looks really... off-putting. But other than that, this is great.

[https://www.fanfiction.net/u/5597209/spashthebandragon] I've got fanfics for Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, Frozen, and Spectacular Spider-Man. Err, separately, I mean. Not some weird crossover thing. Those are all separate fanfics.

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

Really cool stuff Spyro, and Sparx, look great, the level design, and enemies, plus music gives you a classic Soyro feel, and it's great to see his signature charge and flame attacks they'll always be my two favorite attacks of Spyro flame first and charge second. But it's great to see them, the old health system with Sparx and the butterflies looks great! Amazing stuff keep up the good work!

I'm going to have to make my own eventually. But not now, you can say they are place holders for now, including the music. I tried making my own, but its too much for me.

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

Hi! Really great work so far smile

I wanted to offer you my help with the project! I'm an artist, and even though i know barely anything about 3d programs, I've got some knowledge of anatomy, design and colour, so I could help in making spyro's movement more natural, and also help on designing levels and on getting the right atmosphere through colours.

By the way, I've posted a couple level designs here: https://www.spyroforum.com/viewtopic.php?id=15007

Let me know if you are interested!

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

I honestly thought this project had been left last year. Great to see it still going. The latest update looks great. I especially love the wind effect you have when he is charging. I also love the music changes when entering a menu

My only major feedback for now is: speed up his glide between 1.5 or 2x faster. And lower the volume of his footsteps a little.

Every other comment in youtube states the same. Its fixed already, but when you say faster you meann the horizontal movement right? Not vertical? IDK, I'm focusing on other things atm.

Yes his horizontal movement is quite slow making him seem as light as a feather.

Re: A new spyro fan game following the classic trilogy?

Hello! Your project caught my attention, and I LOVE everything bout this! It's good to see somebody motivated to do stuff like this, helps keep a dying fandom alive!

Let me introduce myself, I am an ex-concept/reference artist for the (now dead) Project Frixion Spyro Movie and had spent 3 years working for them back in 2010. I am here to offer my services for free as a concept artist (For environments, objects, characters, magic, ect.) and a model-sheet maker for your CGI modeler. I have two galleries, but the FA one is the one I tend to update more now-a-days. But, my DA account features a LOT more of my older works with Project Frixion. My art has improved vastly since then, and it doesn't disappoint! Please feel free to contact me through my FA or my DA by note so I may exchange emails or other means of contact.

Got water/swimming mechanics down. Probably need to tweak values as it seems harder to control compared to the actual.

Yay for more progress! (I wish there was support for Gfycat here as gifs are being unreliable to me recently)
