Spyro forgot how to swim.
After spending a fortune in gems to Moneybags in Gateway to Glimmer just to learn how to swim, Spyro enters the Season of Ice and drowns the moment you touch water. Why? I have no idea. Much more understandable on a GBA, but seven so... to touch water and die is pretty surprising by this time.

well, you figure Spyro also forgot how to do bubble breath in AHT. 
he also lost the permanent superflame breath in YOTD.

Ehhhh all very good points. It doesn't matter but when I first got the game (which i got with the GBA alongside Wolfenstein and Doom), I jumped right into the water on the mermaid realm and died.
