Rumored Spring world never existed
So today, Insomniac Games confirmed in their livestream on Spyro Year of the Dragon that there was never a scrapped fourth homeworld based on Spring. It was all a fan theory.

never knew that! very interesting!
then again, it would make sense -- i don't remember anybody finding scrapped code or anything that would refer to a spring homeworld (like the scrapped ones in Spyro 1, EtD, AHT, etc)

Re: Rumored Spring world never existed
That's strange that they never even planned for it at all. Why base the worlds off of seasons if they didn't plan to make 4 of them? The game didn't feel incomplete with only three homeworlds, but still, I'd have picked different names for them that don't imply a non-existent 4th.

Re: Rumored Spring world never existed
I don't think its necessarily that they didn't think of it for Spyro 2. I think they just didn't plan for more than 3 homeworlds for the game. Remember, Spyro: Year of the Dragon's first homeworld is Sunrise Spring, so they might have just continued from where they left off in thinking of the seasons. "Sunrise Spring" achieves two things. I finishes the seasons off that started in Spyro 2, and it starts the trend of naming homeworlds after times of the day instead of times of the year. I noticed this as a kid, and felt content about it. According to this reveal, its just obvious they weren't planning on it being in Ripto's Rage.

i just had a weird thought. what if "Sunrise Spring" used to be part of Avalar?
i mean, if they didn't even PLAN for a 4th homeworld, the implication is that canonically, there's no "spring" world in Avalar, just the three homeworlds. which is weird, considering these characters speak the same language(s) we do - so you'd think they would account for having four seasons and only three homeworlds and ... maybe name them something else?
and since there's no real geographical "link" between the Forgotten Realms (or whatever they're called) it would make sense for Sunrise Spring to be detached from the rest of them. maybe it could be an extreme case of continental drift or something.
i know i'm overthinking this, i'm tired and i had a long day i just like thinking about the details that game canon doesn't really delve into.
